EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: July 17, 2026 – Celeberate Yourself, Be Happy
Do you know that celebrating yourself attracts positivity? A grateful and joyful heart opens the door for greater blessings. When you appreciate God for where you are today, you are telling Him that you trust Him for where He is taking you tomorrow.
One day I asked a lady, “Today is your birthday. Why are you not celebrating yourself?” She replied, “I don’t have money to celebrate.” That answer reveals how many people think in this way today. They believe money can bring true happiness. They believe celebration depends on having plenty of money.
They believe that joy and happiness will only arrive after they experience a major breakthrough in their lives. That is the wrong mindset. If you continue waiting for money before you celebrate yourself, you may continue postponing your own happiness.
There will always be another need to meet, another bill to pay, another challenge to overcome. If you say, “I will be happy when everything is perfect,” you may wait for a very long time. God never commanded us to rejoice only after receiving everything we desire.
He commands us to rejoice because He is faithful, because He is good, and because He is always working on our behalf. Happiness is not something that automatically happens to you. Sometimes, it is a decision you deliberately make. Beloved, one of the greatest gifts God has given to man is the gift of life.
Every other blessing is meaningless without life. Before you complain about what you have not received, remember what you have already received. The fact that you woke up this morning, breathed without the help of a machine, and can still call upon the name of the Lord is a miracle many people desired but never experienced.
Many people spend their lives chasing tomorrow that they completely forget to appreciate the blessings of God in their lives today. They are always looking for the next breakthrough, the next promotion, the next miracle, the next contract, the next level.
There is nothing wrong with having ambition or praying for greater things. However, if your happiness depends only on what is coming tomorrow, you may never truly enjoy today. Many people are waiting for a major breakthrough before they permit themselves to be happy.
They say, “I will celebrate when I get married.” Others say, “I will celebrate when I buy my own house.” Some are waiting until they get a better job, become wealthy, travel abroad, or fulfil a particular dream. As a result, they spend years postponing their joy.
Beloved, do not make that same mistake. Happiness should not always be tied to achievements, success, connection, relationships. If you cannot thank God for where you are today, you may not appreciate Him when He takes you to where you are praying or hoping to be in life.
There are people who have everything money can buy, yet they have no peace. There are others who have little, yet they wake up every morning with gratitude in their hearts. Joy is not determined by possessions; it is produced by your relationship with God and your appreciation of His goodness in your life.
One dangerous habit many people have is comparing themselves with others. Comparison is a thief of joy. When you compare your chapter three with someone else’s chapter twenty, you will always feel behind in life. Remember that God has a unique timetable for every life.
Let’s look at this: Joseph became a governor at one stage. David became king at another stage. Moses began his assignment at eighty years old. Caleb was still asking for his mountain at eighty-five. John the Baptist completed his assignment before Jesus began His public ministry.
Each of them fulfilled God’s purpose according to God’s timing. Therefore, stop asking, “Why is my life not like theirs?” Instead, ask, “O Lord, help me fulfil Your purpose for my life.” Beloved, your greatest achievement is not becoming richer than someone else or more popular than someone else.
You see someone building a house, and you forget to thank God that you are alive. You see someone critically ill, you refuse to thank God for giving you good health. You see someone getting married, and you forget that God has given you beautiful children. You see someone’s witn a new car, and you forget that God has protected you from accidents.
You see another person’s promotion, and you forget to thank God for giving you wisdom. When you begin to complain or not satisfy with the level you are today, you may have difficulty in growth. Instead of celebrating God’s goodness in your own life, you begin to complain about what you do not have.
Beloved, God is writing different stories for different people. The fact that someone else’s testimony came before yours does not mean God has forgotten you. The fact that your friend is doing well more than should not stop you from celeberating yourself and living a happy life.
Your own season will definitely come. Until then, celebrate those who are celebrating and continue thanking God for your own journey. Remember, envy steals joy, but gratitude multiplies it faster. God never called you to compete with another person’s journey.
Your assignment is to become the person God created you to be. Celebrate every little victory. Celebrate your good health. Celebrate your family. Celebrate the grace to wake up each morning. Celebrate the progress you have made, even if it seems small. Celebrate the prayers God has already answered.
Celebrate the lessons you have learned through difficult seasons. Above all, celebrate the God who has never abandoned you. The Bible says in Psalm 103:2, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” Forgetfulness is one of the greatest enemies of thanksgiving.
We quickly remember our problems, but we easily forget God’s goodness in our lives. Beloved, stop measuring your life only by what is missing. But measure it also by what God has already done in your life. Some people are alive today but cannot walk.
Some can walk but cannot see. Some can see but cannot hear. Some have money but no peace. Some have influence but no progress. When you begin to count God’s blessings in your life instead of your disappointments, your heart will naturally become thankful.
Look around you carefully. There are people whose battles are greater than yours, yet they still wake up every morning with gratitude. They are full of joy. They enjoy every moment in their lives. They refuse to allow their circumstances to overwhelm them.
Then there are people whose lives are filled with many blessings, yet they remain unhappy because they keep focusing on what they have not received. The difference is not always the size of the problem. The difference is mentality. Whatever you focus on will influence your attitude.
Make it a lifestyle to celebrate every milestone in your life. Thank God for another birthday. Thank Him for another year of His faithfulness. Celebrate your wedding anniversary. Celebrate your graduation. Celebrate your child’s achievements. Celebrate your ministry growth. Celebrate every answered prayer, no matter how small it may seem.
Do not wait for people to organize a big celebration before you appreciate God. Gather your family and thank Him. Sing praises. Share testimonies. Give thanks. Even if all you have is a simple meal, eat it with joy and a grateful heart. Beloved, happiness is a choice.
Every morning you wake up, you have two choices. You can either spend the day complaining about what you don’t have, or you can thank God for what He has already done. Another reason you should celebrate yourself is because you have survived battles that should have destroyed you.
Think about where you were five or ten years ago. Think about the storms you have overcome Think about many times God has protected you when you were not aware. Think about the disappointments, betrayals, sicknesses, financial struggles, family challenges, and moments when you almost gave up.
Yet today, by the grace of God, you are still standing. That is worth celebrating, and be happy for. The enemy expected you to quit. People expected you to fail. Some even thought your story had ended. But God kept you alive and strong. Every scar you carry is evidence that God has seen you through.
Every testimony you have today was once a prayer request. Every smile on your face today was once hidden behind tears. Beloved, celebrate God’s faithfulness in your life. Thank God for every honest effort you have made. Thank Him for every positive step you have taken.
Appreciate the grace He has given you to keep moving even when life became difficult. Your greatest achievement is fulfilling the assignment God has given you. There are people who have reached the top of their careers but have no peace. Others are famous but no true joy and protection.
Some have accumulated wealth but yet they are living in fear every day. True happiness is not found in possessions but in God’s presence. Jesus said in John 15:11, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”
Notice that Jesus spoke about joy, not temporary excitement. Happiness that depends only on money will disappear when money is scarce. Happiness that depends on people will disappear when people disappoint you. Happiness that depends on circumstances will disappear when life becomes difficult.
Happiness that depends on gifts will disappear when the gifts stop coming. But the joy that comes from God remains even in difficult seasons. Some people have forgotten how to be positive. Even when God blesses them, they quickly move to the next complaint.
They rarely appreciate what God has done because they are always thinking about what He has not yet done. Nobody will celebrate your life the way you should celebrate it. People may congratulate you today and forget about you tomorrow. If you depend on people to make you happy, you will often be disappointed.
Learn to appreciate yourself because you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. If you continually focus on your disappointments, that discouragement will grow. If you continually focus on God’s faithfulness, thanksgiving will grow. Take a moment today and look back. God has protected you when the enemy wanted to destroy you.
Some people are afraid to be happy because of the environment they live in. They believe that if they laugh too much, people will think they are proud. They feel that if they are too happy, people may take advantage of them. Others usually feel uncomfortable celebrating or happy in front of others because they think someone may become jealous.
That is a wrong perspective. Being happy is not pride. Being happy is not suppose to be evil. Giving thanks is not arrogance. Celebrating God’s goodness in your life is not showing off. There is a difference between gratitude and pride. Pride says, “Look at what I have achieved.” Gratitude says, “Look at what God has done.”
Never apologize for thanking God. Never be ashamed to laugh again because God has been good to you. Never allow negative people to make you feel guilty for rejoicing in the Lord. The devil wants believers to remain discouraged because discouraged people easily lose hope, stop praying, and stop expecting good things from God.
The devil wants you to focus so much on what you do not have that you forget what God has already done. But a grateful heart attracts God’s presence and keeps the spirit of joy alive. But when you maintain a joyful heart, your faith becomes stronger.
Joy gives you strength to continue believing. Joy reminds you that the God who helped you yesterday is still able to help you today. The Bible says, “The joy of the LORD is your strength.” Notice that it did not say your strength comes from having no problems.
It says your strength comes from the joy of the Lord. This means you can still rejoice while waiting for your miracle. You can still worship while trusting God for your breakthrough. You can still celebrate His goodness even when you have not yet received everything you are praying for.
Beloved, make a decision today to stop postponing your happiness. Thank God for where you are. Appreciate how far He has brought you. Celebrate every victory, whether small or great. Celebrate every answered prayer. Celebrate every good thing in your life. Celebrate every opportunity. Celebrate every breath you take.
Its wrong to wait until you own a mansion before you rejoice in the Lord that kept you alive. Its a bad mindset to wait until you become wealthy before you praise God. It’s bad to wait until all your battles are over before you smile. It’s wrong to wait until you marry, buy a car, own a house before you can be happy in life.
Beloved, there is something the devil does not want you to do, he does not want you to celebrate yourself. He does not what you to see reason to be happy in life. He knows that when a believer is happy, that person will receive more blessings from the Lord.
A joyful heart has hope. A grateful heart has faith. A person who continually thanks God is less likely to become discouraged. There are people who refuse to celebrate themselves because they think they have not achieved enough. They keep saying, “I’m not where I want to be.”
While that may be true, you are also not where you used to be. Look back and see how far God has brought you. There was a time when you did not know Christ. There was a time when you could not pray. There was a time when fear controlled your life.
There was a time when you lacked certain opportunities in your life. There was a time when you wondered when you will have your own car, travel abroad, marry or live a good life today. But look at your life today compare to yesterday, has God not been faithful in your life.
Please celebrate that and be happy. Sometimes we become so familiar with God’s blessings that we stop appreciating them. We pray for healing, and when God heals us, we quickly move on to another prayer request. We pray for a job, and after getting the job, we start complaining about the workload.
We pray for marriage, and after getting married, we complain about responsibilities and other issues. We pray for children, and after God blesses us with children, we complain about their expenses. Beloved, never allow familiarity to destroy your gratitude to God.
The Israelites experienced this same mistake. God delivered them from Egypt with mighty miracles. He divided the Red Sea before them. He fed them with manna from heaven. He brought water out of a rock. Yet it did not take long before they began to complain again.
Complaining became their lifestyle. Many people still live like that today. Instead of thanking God for ninety-nine blessings, they become unhappy because of one unanswered prayer. Beloved, learn to celebrate the ninety-nine blessings while trusting God for the one.
Another reason to celebrate yourself is because you are unique. God never created two people exactly alike. Even identical twins have different fingerprints. This tells us that God intentionally made every person different. Stop trying to become another person. Stop trying to live another person’s life.
Stop trying to copy another person’s journey. God did not create you to compete with others; He created you to fulfil your own assignment. When David wanted to fight Goliath, Saul offered him his armour. David tried it on but quickly realized it was not meant for him.
He removed it and chose the sling he was familiar with. Imagine if David had insisted on wearing Saul’s armour just to look like him. He might never have defeated Goliath. Beloved, never wear another person’s destiny. Be who God created you to be.
Some people are unhappy because they spend too much time trying to impress others. They buy what they cannot afford just to gain acceptance. They live beyond their income just to maintain an image. They pretend to be successful while secretly drowning in debt.
That is not wisdom. There is peace in living within your means. There is joy in being content with what God has provided while trusting Him for increase. Paul said in Philippians 4:11, “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”
Contentment does not mean you stop pursuing excellence. It means you refuse to allow dissatisfaction to steal your joy while you are growing. Beloved, celebrate your little beginnings. The small business is worth celebrating. The small apartment is worth celebrating.
The first salary is worth celebrating. The first customer is worth celebrating. The first answered prayer is worth celebrating. The first Bible you finished reading is worth celebrating. The first soul you led to Christ is worth celebrating. Small victories often become the foundation of great testimonies. Do not despise them.
There are also people who have forgotten how to be happy. Life has become so serious that they no longer lfind any need to be happy. Every conversation is war or about problems. Every thought is about bills. Every day is filled with anxiety. Beloved, life is not meant to be lived that way.
Beloved, if you are alive today, you already have a reason to celebrate. Your story is not over. God is still writing your testimony. Therefore, celebrate yourself not out of pride, but out of gratitude to God. Rejoice in the Lord, be happy in His goodness, and trust Him for the beautiful future that lies ahead.
Beloved, do not become so busy pursuing after success that you forget to enjoy the life God has already given you. Life is too short to be too serious. Spend quality time with your family with joy. Play and laugh with your children. Visit your parents and make them happy.
Encourage your friends in good intention. Celebrate birthdays in a way that’s most convenient for you. Appreciate people who have stood by you. Celebrate other people’s good season. Rejoice with those who rejoice.
Thank God for every new day. These simple moments become beautiful memories tomorrow. Life is too precious to spend every day worrying about tomorrow. Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”
This does not mean you should not plan for the future. It means you should not allow worry to steal today’s peace. Finally, remember that the greatest reason to celebrate is your salvation in Christ. Houses, cars, money, and earthly achievements will all pass away one day.
But your relationship with Jesus has eternal value. If your name is written in the Book of Life, you already possess the greatest treasure. Therefore, celebrate yourself, not because you are perfect, but because God has been faithful. Celebrate yourself, not because you have arrived, but because you are making progress.
Celebrate yourself, not because life has been easy, but because God’s grace has sustained you through every season. Keep smiling. Keep thanking God. Keep appreciating every divine blessing in your life . Keep rejoicing in the Lord.
The God who has brought you this far is not finished with you yet. Your best days are still ahead, and your greatest testimonies are yet to come. As you continue to celebrate God’s faithfulness, your heart will become lighter, your faith will become stronger, and your hope will become brighter.
The same God who has done great things for you in the past is still working on your behalf. Therefore, rejoice in the Lord and never allow your present problems to rob you of the happiness God has given you. Celebrate the Giver more than the gifts, and your heart will never run out of reasons to rejoice.
Prophetic Declaration
I prophesy over your life today that every spirit of sorrow, heaviness, sadness, and discouragement is broken, in the name of Jesus.
May the Lord fill your heart with supernatural joy and lasting peace. Every burden stealing your happiness shall be lifted. Every power assigned to make you live in regret, depression, or hopelessness shall lose its hold over your life.
I decree that your days of mourning are coming to an end. The God who turned Hannah’s tears into joy, changed Joseph’s prison into a palace, and restored Job’s losses shall visit you with divine surprises.
From today, you shall celebrate the goodness of God in your life. You shall celebrate your health, your family, your ministry, your career, your business, and every blessing God has entrusted to you. You shall not die before your testimony manifests.
I declare that the remaining days of this year shall bring you good news, divine favour, open doors, uncommon breakthroughs, and unforgettable testimonies. You shall rejoice again, your family shall rejoice with you, and your testimony shall cause many to glorify God. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Daily Reflection
Ask Yourself:
- Am I allowing my present problems to steal the joy that God has given me?
- When was the last time I sincerely thanked God for the blessings I already have?
- Am I comparing my life with others instead of appreciating God’s unique plan for me?
- What blessings have I overlooked because I have been focusing only on what I have not yet received?
- What practical steps can I take today to celebrate God’s faithfulness and live with a joyful and grateful heart?
Personal Challenge
This week, intentionally celebrate yourself and God’s faithfulness. Write down at least ten blessings God has given you, no matter how small they may seem. Thank Him for each one, smile more, complain less, and refuse to allow your present challenges to rob you of the joy and happiness that God has freely given you.
Wisdom for Today
“Your happiness should not depend on what you are waiting for but on the God who has faithfully brought you this far. A grateful heart will always find a reason to rejoice, even in difficult times.”
“Do not wait for a perfect life before you choose to be happy. A grateful heart celebrates today’s blessings while trusting God for tomorrow’s miracles.”
Evangelism Challenge
This week, encourage someone who is discouraged or burdened by life’s challenges. Share your testimony of God’s faithfulness, remind them of His goodness, and invite them to put their trust in Jesus Christ.
