No More Evil Sickness – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: October 27, 2026
Beloved, sickness is one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. It does not only affect the body; it affects everything around the person.
It disturbs your peace, drains your finances, troubles your family and interrupts your daily activities.
A person who was once strong, active and productive can suddenly find himself on a hospital bed, unable to work, unable to care for his family and unable to do the things he once enjoyed.
Sickness steals your joy. It steals your peace. It steals your sleep. Job described it this way: “So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.
When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day” (Job 7:3–4).
Many people know exactly what Job meant. They lie down at night, but they cannot rest. They turn from one side to the other, waiting for morning, carrying pain that nobody else can see.
David also cried out in his sickness: “Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed” (Psalm 6:2–3).
Notice that when the bones are vexed, the soul is also vexed. Sickness of the body often brings sickness of the soul: fear, worry, depression, hopelessness and the feeling that life is slipping away.
Sickness consumes a person’s time, energy and resources. Days that should be spent building a career, raising children, serving God and fulfilling destiny are spent in waiting rooms, laboratories and pharmacies.
Strength that should be used for progress is spent just trying to survive. Sickness is from the pit of hell and must be crushed to pieces with all its seeds and roots in our body.
Beloved, there are people who have been moving from one hospital to another, searching for relief from a health problem that refuses to go.
They have seen general doctors, specialists and consultants. They have done one test after another. Some have been told, “We cannot find anything wrong with you,” yet they know their body is not well.
Some are given one diagnosis in one hospital and a different one in another. Some are treated, they feel better for a while, and then the sickness returns back, sometimes returning worse than before.
The woman with the issue of blood is a picture of many people today. The Bible says she “had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse” (Mark 5:26).
Look at that verse carefully. She suffered many things. She saw many physicians. She spent all that she had. And instead of getting better, she grew worse. For twelve years, she lived in pain, in weakness, in isolation and in poverty.
Many people have spent substantial amounts of money on medical examinations, medications and treatments. Some have sold their land, their cars and their property to pay medical bills.
Some have borrowed money they are still struggling to repay. Some families have exhausted their savings to care for one sick member. Some have travelled abroad for treatment, spending fortunes, only to return home with the same problem.
It is very unfortunate that so many people today are facing life threatening illnesses, and many are spending heavily on their health. I have seen families thrown into poverty because of one sickness.
I have seen destinies put on hold, businesses collapse and marriages strained because one sickness has entered the home. But I have also seen the hand of God move, and that is why I am writing to you today: there is hope.
WHAT IS EVIL SICKNESS?
Beloved, not every sickness is the same. There are natural sicknesses that come from infections, poor lifestyle, age, accidents or the general brokenness of this fallen world. And there are evil sicknesses.
An evil sickness is a sickness that has been compromised by the devil. It may have a natural appearance, but there is a spiritual hand behind it.
It is a sickness that has been programmed into a person’s body by the enemy to fight against their health, their destiny and their life. The Bible calls them “the evil diseases of Egypt” (Deuteronomy 7:15).
Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). One of the ways the thief steals, kills and destroys is through evil sickness. He uses it to steal money, kill dreams and destroy lives.
When Jesus healed the woman who had been bent over for eighteen years, He did not say she had a back problem. He said she was one “whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years” (Luke 13:16).
Her sickness was a binding. When Job was afflicted with sore boils from head to toe, the Bible tells us plainly, “So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils” (Job 2:7). His sickness was an attack.
Evil sickness often has certain signs. It may refuse to respond to treatment that should normally work. It may move from one part of the body to another. It may begin after a strange dream or an unusual encounter.
It may follow a family pattern, attacking members of the same family at the same age or in the same way. It may grow worse at night or at particular seasons.
It may defy medical explanation, so that doctors cannot find the cause. When you notice such patterns, it is wise to bring the matter before God in prayer while continuing to seek medical help.
Beloved, one of the most dangerous things about some sicknesses is that they are silent. Sometimes a person does not even know that they are sick until the sickness has already begun to damage vital organs.
They feel fine, they go about their business, they work, they travel, they serve in church, and meanwhile something is quietly eating away at their body. By the time the symptoms appear, a lot of damage has already been done.
The prophet Hosea described this kind of situation: “Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not” (Hosea 7:9). Strangers were devouring his strength, and he did not know it.
This is how the enemy sometimes works. Jesus said, “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way” (Matthew 13:25).
The enemy plants quietly, and the result shows up much later. Some sicknesses were planted years ago, perhaps through a dream, a curse, a contact or an evil covenant, and they grow silently until they manifest.
The psalmist spoke of “the pestilence that walketh in darkness” and “the destruction that wasteth at noonday” (Psalm 91:6). Some sicknesses walk in darkness; you do not see them coming. Some destroys at noonday, in the full light of an active life.
But beloved, let me be balanced and wise with you. Many silent illnesses are also natural. Some conditions can develop quietly in the body for years without showing obvious symptoms.
This is why wisdom demands that you do regular medical check-ups, even when you feel well. Do not wait until you collapse before you see a doctor. Check your blood pressure, your blood sugar and other important health indicators regularly, as your doctor advises.
Prayer will expose what the enemy is hiding, and medical screening will reveal what the body is hiding. The person who prays and also checks himself is wiser than the one who only prays or only checks.
When a father brought his son to Jesus, the boy was tormented by a spirit that often threw him into the fire and into the water to destroy him. Jesus asked the father, “How long is it ago since this came unto him?” The father answered, “Of a child” (Mark 9:21).
Some evil sicknesses did not start yesterday. They started in childhood. Some started from the womb. Some were inherited from the family line. The person has lived with it for so long that they have accepted it as their normal.
They say, “This is just how my body is.” They have carried it into adulthood, into marriage and into old age. But Jesus did not accept the boy’s condition as normal.
He rebuked the spirit and said, “Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him” (Mark 9:25). Notice the words “enter no more.” Jesus not only delivered him; He made sure the affliction would not return.
Beloved, no matter how long you have carried that sickness, it does not have to be permanent in your life. What started in childhood can end today. The sickness that came from your family line can stop with you.
There are also sicknesses that come suddenly. The son of the Shunammite woman was with his father in the field when he suddenly cried, “My head, my head” (2 Kings 4:19).
They carried him to his mother, and by noon he was dead. One moment he was well; the next moment he was gone. Many families have experienced this.
A healthy person suddenly collapses. A strong person suddenly develops a strange illness. A child who was playing in the morning is rushed to the hospital in the afternoon. Sudden sickness can bring shock, confusion and great fear.
But the Shunammite woman did not accept death as the final word. She laid her son on the bed of the man of God, shut the door and went straight to Elisha, saying, “It shall be well” (2 Kings 4:26).
And through the prayer of Elisha, the child came back to life. Beloved, even when sickness strikes suddenly, God can still move suddenly. The same God who raised the Shunammite’s son is still able to intervene.
Beloved, after twelve years of suffering and spending, the woman with the issue of blood heard of Jesus. She did not let her past experience discourage her. She said within herself, “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole” (Mark 5:28).
She pressed through the crowd, touched His garment, and “straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague” (Mark 5:29).
What twelve years of spending could not do, one touch of faith did in a moment. Hear me, beloved: the doctors are important, and we thank God for them, but they are not the final authority over your life.
The test results are important, but they are not God’s final verdict for your life. The Bible says, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Psalm 107:20).
“The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness” (Psalm 41:3). God is with you on that hospital bed. God is with you in that waiting room. God is with you in that sleepless night. He has not abandoned you.
Jesus “went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). He is still the same today. The power that healed in Galilee is the same power available to you now.
Beloved, the Bible clearly encourages us to pray for the sick.
James wrote, “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him” (James 5:14–15).
Jesus Himself said of those who believe, “they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:18). Prayer for the sick is not optional for the church; it is part of our assignment.
But the same Bible that encourages us to pray for the sick does not require us to reject medical treatment. Nowhere does Scripture say that going to the hospital is a lack of faith.
God Himself asked through the prophet Jeremiah, “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” (Jeremiah 8:22).
God spoke of the balm and the physician as things that should have brought healing. In Ezekiel’s vision of the river flowing from God’s temple, the trees along the river bore fruit for food, “and the leaf thereof for medicine” (Ezekiel 47:12).
God is not against medicine; He is the One who created the plants and gave men the wisdom to use them. So, beloved, pray fervently, and also take your medication. Lay hands on the sick, and also take them to the hospital. Anoint with oil, and also follow the doctor’s instructions.
Do not let anyone deceive you that faith means throwing away your drugs or refusing treatment. Many people have died unnecessarily because they were told to “only believe” while a treatable condition grew worse.
True faith is not foolishness. True faith trusts God to work through every means He chooses, whether through a miracle, a medicine or a medical procedure.
Beloved, God does not want you to be sick; He wants you to be healed. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). Notice the words “above all things.” God’s desire for your health is very high on His heart.
When God brought Israel out of Egypt, the Bible says, “He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes” (Psalm 105:37). Millions of people walked out of slavery, and not one of them was feeble. That is the will of God for His people.
God promised, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee… the number of thy days I will fulfil” (Exodus 23:25–26). God wants you to fulfil the full number of your days in health and strength.
Look at Moses: “And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated” (Deuteronomy 34:7).
Look at Caleb, who at eighty five years old declared, “As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in” (Joshua 14:11). That is the portion God desires for His children.
God knows that sickness can delay us and cripple our activities. He knows that a sick person cannot run with full strength towards their destiny.
The man at the pool of Bethesda lay there for thirty eight years. Think of all the years of his life that sickness consumed, years he could have worked, married, raised children and served God.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet after his nurse dropped him as a child, and he lived in Lodebar, a place of nothing, far from the palace where he belonged. Sickness took him away from his royal position.
Even in the ministry of Paul, sickness interrupted God’s work. Epaphroditus, a faithful worker, “was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him” (Philippians 2:27).
Paul also wrote, “Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick” (2 Timothy 4:20). A fellow labourer had to be left behind because of sickness.
Beloved, sickness can take you out of the race. It can make you miss opportunities, abandon assignments, postpone dreams and lose precious time.
It can keep a businessman out of his office, a student out of school, a minister out of the pulpit and a mother away from her children. That is why the enemy loves to use it. If he cannot stop your destiny, he tries to slow it down with sickness.
But God has promised to renew your strength. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
The God who healed the man at Bethesda after thirty eight years, lifted Mephibosheth from Lodebar and had mercy on Epaphroditus will restore you to your place and your purpose.
MINISTRATION
Beloved, wherever you are reading this, place your hand on any part of your body that is under attack. If you are reading for a loved one, place your hand on your heart and stand in the gap for them.
Every evil sickness programmed into your body by the enemy, I command it to be deprogrammed now by the power in the blood of Jesus.
Every silent attacker devouring your strength without your knowledge, be exposed and destroyed by fire. Every sickness planted while you slept, be uprooted now.
Every pestilence that walks in darkness and every destruction that wastes at noonday, lose your grip on your life, in the name of Jesus.
Every sickness that started from childhood, hear the word of the Lord: come out and enter no more. Every hereditary disease following your family line, end with you today. Every sickness that has refused medical treatment, bow to the name of Jesus now.
Every money you have lost to sickness, may God restore it to you. Every year you have lost on the sickbed, may God redeem it. Every organ that has been damaged, receive restoration and creative miracle. Every weakness, receive strength. Every fear, be replaced with faith.
I decree upon your life: no more evil sickness. No more moving from hospital to hospital without result. No more spending all that you have and growing worse.
By the stripes of Jesus, you are healed. Affliction shall not rise up the second time. You shall live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord.
Lift your hands and say: “Lord Jesus, I touch the hem of Your garment by faith. I receive my healing. No more evil sickness in my life, in my body and in my family, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!”
WISDOM FOR TODAY
Pray as if everything depends on God, and take care of your body as if everything depends on you.
PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Beloved, today I challenge you to bring your health and the health of your family before God. Take a notebook and write down any sickness you or your family members are battling, especially any that keep coming back, defy diagnosis or follow a family pattern.
Pray over each one by name, pleading the blood of Jesus and declaring God’s Word of healing. Ask yourself this question? If there is any bitterness, unforgiveness or hidden sin in your life? Confess it and release it before God.
Then examine your lifestyle. Is there anything you are eating, the way you are working or you discover your habits is harming your body?
If you have been avoiding the hospital, book that check-up or follow up on that treatment. If you have been relying on medicine alone without seeking God, begin to pray over every drug, every test and every doctor’s appointment.
Finally, write out three healing Scriptures, such as Isaiah 53:5, Exodus 15:26 and Psalm 107:20, and declare them over your body every morning and night this week.
EVANGELISM CHALLENGE
Many people around you are sick in body and weary in soul, and some have lost hope. Visit or call one sick person today. Pray with them, encourage them with the Word of God and tell them about Jesus, the Healer who bore our sicknesses on the cross.
Above all, introduce them to the Saviour who heals not only the body but also the soul, because the greatest healing any person can receive is salvation through Jesus Christ.

AFRICAN PROVERB
“He who conceals his disease cannot expect to be cured.”
Meaning: Healing begins when we acknowledge that something is wrong and seek help. Many people hide their sickness out of fear, shame or pride, and by the time they speak, it is too late. Bring your condition before God in prayer, share it with trusted believers who can pray with you, and seek medical help early. What is brought into the light can be healed.
