The Benefits of Having a Prayer Partner – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: October 22, 2026

Beloved, one of the greatest gifts God can give to a believer is a prayer partner. A prayer partner is not just a friend you call when things are bad.

A prayer partner is like a destiny helper sent by God to stand with you in the place of prayer. He is there to encourage you to pray when you do not feel like praying.

He is there to instruct you and guide you in prayer when you do not know what to say or how to fight. A true prayer partner does not want you to fail in prayer.

A true prayer partner does not gossip about your problem or to compete with you. He does not envy what you have or try to discourage you from praying.

His interest is to charge your spirit, to stir up the fire in you, and to influence your spiritual life so that you grow stronger in the Lord every day.

A true prayer partner does not steal, manipulate or uses revelation to deceive and drain you. They are sent by God to add to your life and not to subtract from you.

However, I must warn you strongly. There are people who hide in the disguise of prayer partners, but their real aim is to collect money from you. They will say, “Pay this amount and I will pray for you.”

They will say, “Bring this money so that I can stand in the gap for your family.” Beloved, be warned. Anybody that charges you money to be your prayer partner is using you for a business transaction. That is not partnership. That is merchandise.

Jesus said, “freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). When Naaman was healed and offered gifts, Elisha refused to take anything.

But Gehazi his servant ran after Naaman secretly and collected silver and garments, and the leprosy of Naaman clave unto Gehazi (2 Kings 5:20 to 27).

When Simon the sorcerer offered money to buy the power of the Holy Ghost, Peter said to him, “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money” (Acts 8:20).

The apostle Peter also warned that false teachers “through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you” (2 Peter 2:3).

There are many believers who started well in prayer but grew cold along the way. They used to pray at midnight, but now they sleep throughout the night like a baby.

They used to fast, but now they eat as if there is no battle. What happened? They had nobody to push them. They had nobody to call them and say, “Wake up, it is time to pray.”

But when God gives you the right prayer partner, your prayer life will come alive again. That person will boost your faith, and before you know it, you will begin to love prayer. You will begin to pray together. What used to be a burden will become a thing of joy.

A prayer partner does not have to be a pastor or a prophet. Anybody can be your prayer partner, as long as your faith aligns with their spirit pr energy.

Your marriage partner can be your prayer partner. The Bible says husbands and wives are “heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered” (1 Peter 3:7).

When a husband and wife pray together, the devil has no space in that home. Your mentor can be your prayer partner. Paul told Timothy, “without ceasing I have remembered thee in my prayers night and day” (2 Timothy 1:3).

Your brother or sister can be your prayer partner. Your friend in the church, your colleague who loves the Lord, can be your prayer partner.

But the key is agreement. The prophet Amos asked, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). You cannot pray with somebody whose faith is pulling in another direction.

If you are binding and he is loosing, there will be confusion and frustration. If you are believing God and she is doubting it, there will be no power to drive that expectation to reality.

The truth is that, as long as your faith aligns, you are good to go. Find somebody who believes what you believe, who loves Jesus the way you love Him, and who is ready to stand with you before the throne of grace.

The Bible says, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17). A knife that is never sharpened will become blunt.

It may still look like a knife, but it cannot cut anything. In the same way, a believer who is never sharpened will become spiritually blunt.

He will still carry a Bible, he will still sit in church, but he cannot cut down any enemy. With the right prayer partner, you sharpen each other. When your fire is low, his fire will light yours.

When his faith is weak, your faith will lift up his dying faith. Together, you become sharp weapons in the hand of God.

With the right prayer partner, you can open your heart and share your problems. You do not have to carry everything alone and pretend that all is well.

The Bible says, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). A true prayer partner will take your burden, carry it to the altar, and lift it off your shoulders through prayer.

James says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed” (James 5:16). There are some healings and some deliverances that will not come until you stop hiding your battle and allow someone to pray with you.

Many people are carrying loads that are too heavy for them. They are carrying sickness, debt, marital problems, spiritual attacks, and bad dreams, all by themselves.

They are smiling outside but dying inside. Beloved, you were not created to carry it alone. God has people He has prepared to help you carry that load.

There are seasons when you will feel tired, confused and even feel like backsliding. You will kneel down to pray and the words will not come.

You will open your Bible and it will feel like the words are written in Chinese. You will try to pray alone and find yourself struggling. You will hold a Bible to meditate, and within a few minutes, you have already dozed of.

Beloved, this is not the time to give up. The solution to this is a prayer partner. Look at Moses in Exodus 17, Israel was fighting Amalek. When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed.

When he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses was a human being, and his hands became heavy.

Then the Bible says, “Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun” (Exodus 17:12).

If Moses, the great man of God, needed somebody to hold up his hands, who are you to say you can do it alone? The truth of the matter is that you cannot do it alone.

We all need somebody like Aaron in our life. When your hands are heavy, your Aaron will lift them up. When you are about to drop, your Hur will hold you steady until the battle is won.

Solomon said, “For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up” (Ecclesiastes 4:10). Do not let that woe be your portion.

One of the saddest things in the Bible is when God looked for an intercessor and could not find one. Isaiah says, “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor” (Isaiah 59:16).

Ezekiel says, “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none” (Ezekiel 22:30).

Some people are suffering today because nobody is standing in the gap for them. When the attack comes in the night, nobody is praying with them.

When the enemy is planning their downfall, nobody is watching. When you do not have anyone to intercede for you, you need a prayer partner who will be there to assist you spiritually.

Look at Peter. When he was in prison, “prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him” (Acts 12:5), and an angel came and broke his chains. Look at the church in Colossae.

They had Epaphras, who was “always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God” (Colossians 4:12). Everybody needs an Epaphras.

Here is a mystery many believers do not understand. There are some things about your life that God will not show to you directly. He will show it to your prayer partner so that they can lift you up in prayer.

Jesus said to Peter, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not” (Luke 22:31 to 32).

Peter did not know what Satan was planning, but Jesus knew, and Jesus prayed. When Saul of Tarsus was blind in Damascus, God did not only speak to Saul.

He also spoke to a disciple called Ananias in a vision and sent him to lay hands on Saul so that he would receive his sight and be filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 9:10 to 17).

Your deliverance may come through somebody God has shown your matter to. That is why you must not despise the people God has placed around you.

Beloved, a true prayer partner is like an angel God sends into your life. Not that they have wings, but their assignment is like that of the ministering spirits the Bible speaks about: “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14).

A true prayer partner is sent to minister strength to you, to stand with you, and to see you grow spiritually. They rejoice when you go higher. They are not jealous of your progress.

They are not looking for what to take from you. Their joy is to see you become all that God created you to be.

The Bible says, “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13:2). Some of the people God is sending to help your destiny may come looking ordinary, but they carry heavenly assignment.

A true prayer partner does not put a price on your deliverance. They pray because they love you and because God has laid you on their heart. If anybody makes you pay before they will pray for you, run from that person. Do not let anybody turn your pain into their profit.

A prayer partner may dream about you, may be burdened for you, may wake up at night with your name in their spirit. That is not an accident. That is God using them to cover you.

Beloved, many believers do not know that they need a prayer partner until the battle has gone too far. They keep struggling, keep falling, keep starting again, and they think it is normal.

It is not normal. God never designed you to fight alone. There are signs in your spiritual life that show you clearly that the time has come for you to find somebody to stand with you in prayer.

If you see any of these signs in your life, do not ignore them. They are the Holy Spirit telling you, “You need help.”

You want to pray for thirty minutes, but after five minutes you are tired. You start yawning. You pick up your phone to check one message, and before you know it, thirty minutes have gone, but not on prayer.

Your mind starts wandering to food, work, money, and what people said yesterday. You do not find that excitement to pray anymore. The fire that used to burn in you has gone cold. Beloved, that is a sign that your prayer life is dying.

Jesus came to His disciples in Gethsemane and found them sleeping. He said, “What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:40 to 41).

Your spirit may be willing, but your flesh is weak. That is why you need somebody who will encourage you to pray, somebody whose fire will light your fire again.

The Bible says we should be “fervent in spirit; serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11). When you pray with the right partner, the dryness will go and the fervency will return.

Check your prayers recently. Is it not “my job, my marriage, my money, my house, my car”? Everything is “my, my, my.”

There is no prayer for the kingdom of God. There is no prayer for souls. There is no prayer for your pastor, your church, your nation, or the person next door who is suffering. When you pray alone for too long, your prayer can become selfish without you noticing.

James says, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:3).

But look at what happened to Job. “And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends” (Job 42:10).

Job’s own breakthrough came when he started praying for others. A prayer partner will stretch your heart to pray beyond yourself.

When you pray together, you will carry his burden and he will carry yours, and you will both learn to pray, “Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). The day you start praying for others is the day heaven will begin to attend to your own matter.

You notice that it is the same sickness that keeps coming back. It is the same financial problem every month. It is the same dream attack every night.

It is the same trouble in your family that returns again and again even after you have fasted and prayed. You pray, it goes for a while, and then it comes back stronger.

Beloved, some battles do not break by one person praying alone. The Bible says, “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight” (Deuteronomy 32:30).

If you have been chasing a thousand and the enemy is still standing, it means you need ten thousand power. That power is released by agreement.

Jesus said, “That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).

That repeated battle is a sign that you need somebody you can agree with in prayer. When two of you agree, God will fulfil His Word: “affliction shall not rise up the second time” (Nahum 1:9).

You pray fire on Sunday in church. You shout, you jump, you bind and loose. But from Monday to Saturday, there is no prayer at all.

You only remember to pray when trouble comes, when somebody is sick, or when you are in the church building.

But when the trouble passes, or when you closes from church, the interest for prayer drops. Beloved, that kind of prayer life cannot carry your destiny.

The Bible says, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). You need accountability. A true prayer partner will check on you. He will call you in the morning and ask, “Have you prayed today?” He will wake you up for midnight prayer.

He will remind you when you forget or when you are staying off track. The Bible says, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17), and again, “let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works” (Hebrews 10:24).

Your prayer life will never grow in isolation. It grows when somebody is holding you accountable. God answers your prayer. The testimony comes.

The breakthrough arrives. But you have nobody who truly knows the battle you passed through to rejoice with you.

People will congratulate you, but they do not know the tears behind it, the nights you cried, the fasting you did. And when the answer delays, you have nobody to tell you, “Do not give up. Keep waiting on God.”

When Mary received the word of the Lord, she went to Elisabeth, and when they met, the babe leaped in Elisabeth’s womb and both of them rejoiced in the Lord (Luke 1:39 to 45).

The Bible says, “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep” (Romans 12:15). A prayer partner is not only for warfare. He is also for celebration.

He fought with you, so he will dance with you. And in the season of delay, he will remind you, “let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9).

You dream a lot. You see things in the spirit. You feel things that you cannot explain. But you have nobody to share them with for wisdom and prayer.

So you keep them in your head until you forget them, and the warning God gave you passes without action. Beloved, that is dangerous.

God speaks in dreams. The Bible says, “In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction” (Job 33:15 to 16).

But revelation must be processed and prayed over. When Daniel needed the secret of the king’s dream, he did not go alone.

He went to his house and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret, and that night the secret was revealed (Daniel 2:17 to 19).

The Bible says, “in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14). God gives more revelation to those who have someone to process it with and pray it through.

When you are alone at night, in your thoughts, on your phone, that is when lust, anger, fear, temptation and depression come out loud.

You overcome the temptation on Sunday, but you fall on Monday night. You make a promise to God in the morning, but by midnight you have broken it again. The enemy knows your weak hours, and he waits for them to attack you.

The Bible says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

A prayer partner is not just for morning devotion. He is a guard. He is somebody you can call at any hour and say, “Please pray for me now, I am not okay.”

The Bible says, “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity” (Proverbs 17:17). Remember the woe pronounced on the one who is alone when he falls. Do not let the night find you without a watchman.

You pray, and you feel that God told you something. But you are never sure. Was it God speaking? Was it your own mind? Was it the devil trying to deceive you? Or was it just fear talking?

So you take decisions alone, about your marriage, your business, your relocation, your money, and later you regret it. Beloved, not every voice you hear in prayer is the voice of God.

The Bible warns us, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1).

Look at young Samuel. The Lord called him three times, and each time he ran to Eli, thinking it was the old priest calling.

Samuel did not yet know the voice of the Lord. But the Bible says, “And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child” (1 Samuel 3:8). It was Eli who helped Samuel discern the voice and told him what to say: “Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth.”

If Samuel, who became a great prophet, needed somebody to help him confirm the voice of God, you also need somebody.

God has set a principle in His Word: “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established” (2 Corinthians 13:1).

A true prayer partner will pray with you over that word and seek the face of God with you until there is clarity. The Bible says, “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established” (Proverbs 15:22).

Many destinies have been wrecked by one wrong decision taken alone. When God confirms His word through two witnesses, you will move with confidence and not with regret.

You finish praying, and instead of peace, you feel more empty. Instead of joy, you feel dry. Instead of lightness, you feel weighed down. You have prayed alone, carried the burden alone, cried alone, until you have no more strength left.

Beloved, prayer was meant to lift your load, not to add to it. When prayer leaves you more heavy than before, it is a sign you have been carrying too much by yourself.

Even our Lord Jesus Christ knew this kind of heaviness. In the garden of Gethsemane, He said to His disciples, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me” (Matthew 26:38).

The Son of God, who raised the dead and cast out devils, did not want to enter that hour of agony alone. He took Peter, James, and John with Him and asked them to watch with Him. If Jesus desired companions in His hour of heaviness, how much more do you and I need them?

Solomon declared, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9 to 10).

A prayer partner will take some of that weight off your shoulders. When you have no more strength to pray, he will pray.

When you are too broken to speak, she will speak to God on your behalf. And you will come out of the place of prayer refreshed, strengthened, and lifted up, because somebody stood with you in the gap.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY PRAYER PARTNER?

Many people are asking, “Man of God, where can I find my prayer partner?” Beloved, your prayer partner can be found anywhere. You can find them in your church.

You can find them in your workplace. You can find them at a church programme, a crusade, a vigil, or a conference. You can even find them in the vehicle on your way to work. God is not limited to one place.

Look at how God connected people in the Bible. Philip met the Ethiopian eunuch on the road, sitting in his chariot, and that meeting changed the eunuch’s life forever (Acts 8:26 to 39).

Paul met Lydia by the riverside where prayer was wont to be made, and the Lord opened her heart (Acts 16:13 to 15).

Ruth met Boaz in an ordinary field while gleaning, and it turned out to be a destiny meeting (Ruth 2:3).

David and Jonathan met after a battle, and “the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David” (1 Samuel 18:1). Your destiny helper may be closer than you think. They may be sitting next to you in church every Sunday, and you have not noticed them.

YOU NEED THE EYE OF THE SPIRIT

All you need is the eye of the spirit. When the servant of Elisha woke up and saw the Syrian army surrounding the city, he was afraid.

But Elisha prayed, “LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” And the Lord opened his eyes, and he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:17). The help was already there, but his eyes were not open to see it.

Many believers are surrounded by help, but their spiritual eyes are closed. They are looking for prayer partners with their natural eyes, judging by appearance, wealth, or position.

But God does not choose the way man chooses. Pray as Paul prayed, that “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling” (Ephesians 1:18).

Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to recognize the people He has sent to you, and to discern those the enemy has sent to deceive you.

YOU NEED THIS PARTNER

Beloved, hear me clearly. You need this partner. The right prayer partner will help you grow spiritually and help you fulfil your destiny faster. What you have been struggling to achieve alone for years can be achieved in months when the right person stands with you.

One shall chase a thousand, but two shall put ten thousand to flight. Do not delay any longer. Begin to pray for your destiny prayer partner today, and when God shows them to you, receive them with gratitude and treasure them.

IN CONCLUSION

Beloved, you cannot do it alone. Pride will tell you that you do not need anybody. Fear will tell you that people will betray you. Past hurt will tell you to keep everything to yourself. But the Word of God says, “Two are better than one.”

Ask the Holy Spirit today to connect you with the right prayer partner, a destiny helper whose faith aligns with yours, who will encourage you, guide you, sharpen you, carry your burden with you, and stand in the gap for you.

And do not only look for an Aaron. Become an Aaron to somebody else. Somebody’s hands are heavy today, and God is waiting for you to hold them up.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, connect me with my destiny prayer partner. Send me an Aaron and a Hur who will hold up my hands until my battle is won. Every spirit of isolation and pride that has kept me alone, be broken by fire. Lord, make me also a faithful prayer partner to others. I shall not fall without a hand to lift me up, in Jesus name. Amen.

PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Within the next twenty four hours, ask the Holy Spirit to show you one mature, godly believer you can enter into a prayer covenant with. Reach out to them, share one specific prayer need, and agree on a set time this week to pray together. Write down the date you started, and record every answer that comes through your agreement.

EVANGELISM CHALLENGE

Someone around you is fighting a battle alone today. Reach out to one person, a colleague, a neighbour, or a family member, and offer to pray with them. Many people who will not listen to a sermon will receive a prayer. Use that open door to tell them about Jesus, the Friend who sticketh closer than a brother.
