What is Marathon?

Macmillan dictionary puts it this way: It is an activity that takes a long time to complete and needs a lot of energy and determination. Or an activity that involves physical or mental effort. However, it is also related to athletics. 

What is Marathon Prayer and Fasting?

From the above definition, we can safely say a Marathon Prayer and Fasting is a type of spiritual activity that takes a long time to finish.

Does Bible support long stretch of prayers and fasting?

Yes! In the book of Matthew 4, the Bible says, Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 night. During this period, Our Lord Jesus faced a tough challenge from the devil. Satan trembles at the word of God. When Jesus was hungry, Satan tempted Him to turn the stones into bread, to which Jesus replied, “Man shall not live by bread alone” (Luke 4:4)”. This is a type of marathon prayer and fasting that engage ones body, soul and spirit to be at work together.

Similarly, in Ezra 8:21, Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

MARATHON PRAYER AND FASTING

Prayer and fasting is one of the best mediums of transmitting our requests to God. The word of God specifically command us to pray. At the same time, prayer and fasting can break the bands of wickedness and release people to deliverance. Spending quality time with God can enhance good relationship between you and God (1 John 5:14).

To observe a 24-hour marathon fasting and prayer is involving yourself in continuous spiritual exercise. Though, there are different types of marathon prayers, however, not all of them is 24 hour. Some of them could be 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, others could be done continuously for a period of days. Many people in the Bible had experienced marathon fast and prayer, these includes: Daniel, Moses, Elijah, Paul etc.

By embarking on this type of fasting exercise, the Holy Spirit is saying that you should observe it with total focus and attention it deserved. When we are talking about Marathon prayer, we mean abstaining yourself from food, water etc for 24 hour.  In Isaiah 58:3-7 tells us to seek God with pure motives. From a spiritual perspective, a marathon prayer and fasting can be a helpful way to get God’s attention over your case.  At the same time, God frowns at hypocritical fasting (Mat 6:16).

How does the mercy of God intervene in ones situation?

Biblically, God’s mercy means His pity, compassion, and kindness toward people. His mercy shows up in the believer’s life at salvation, and then God continues to show mercy and forgiveness. Mercy triumphs over judgment but refusing God’s mercy is dangerous. God is pleased to show mercy to His children, according to His own timing. Jesus shows us what it means to be merciful: He healed the sick, welcomed the stranger and pardoned those who persecuted and killed him.

God’s mercies and intervention comes upon a man through:

• Faith
• Confession of sin
• Truthfulness
• Forgiveness
• Righteousness
• Prayer and fasting.
• Constantly hearken and following God’s words.
• Redemptive blood of Jesus.

Mercy of God is powerful, once it comes upon a man’s life, there will be instant breakthrough. It is very important to know that divine mercy can bring your joy and restore hopes. He takes away pains, reproach, delay, curses, afflictions, poverty, suffering etc. A typical example of God’s mercy intervening in a person’s life is when the story of a barren woman changed to a fruitful body. That’s why one of the first sign to detect the arrival of God’s mercy is the presence of love and peace.

Divine mercy is the inheritance of every child of God and it is freely accessed by the salvation of our soul. Although, God sometimes intervene in a man’s situation speedily, slowly or gradually over a period of time. In such cases, if a person abstain from sin, God has the final say whether to give out or withhold His blessings from a set of person. May you never have problem with God.

A situation where your strength, ideas, educational qualification, cannot control, the mercy of God manifest.  During the time of a blind man in the Bible. The people around him mocked him, to the point of calling him names. But when Jesus show up, his mercies intervene in his life. Divine intervention is the only hope of every true believer.

When God truly intervene in your situation like Hannah, Joshua, Abraham, Joseph, Daniel, Esther etc, automatically, your burdens will be lifted away. Likewise, it is the mercy of God that can take or select an unqualified man from the crowd. Sometimes, the devil makes it hard for a person to obtain divine intervention, but as far you did not give up, you will surely testify, in Jesus name. As you key into this 24 hour marathon prayers, the Lord will intervene in your case, in Jesus name.

Please be informed that this is 24 hour of marathon prayers and fasting programme. This means that, you are not going to stop your prayers and fasting until 11:59 pm, a time when you should break your fast. It is not a type of prayer you take at any of your convenient time.

The marathon fasting and prayers is for a full day and to be taken every hour of the day. That is, from 12:00 am Midnight (Friday) through 11:59 pm, a day preceding Saturday. If you will be at work then, the good news, however, is, you can bookmark this page and choose any day you will be less busy.

2. O Lord, by Your mercy, visit my life afresh and remove every obstacle standing between me and you, in the name of Jesus (Ps 51:7-12).
3. O Lord my God, by Your mercies, cancel or remove Your wrath upon my life, in the name of Jesus.

1. Every opportunity and good chances that I have lost as a result of complaining, Lord, by Your mercy, restore it back, in the name of Jesus.

1. O God arise and descend on any power that  has locked my helpers in bondage, in the name of Jesus. I declare his or her release, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every spirit of murmuring and complaining denying me of my faith in Christ Jesus, be pulled out by fire, in the name of Jesus.
3. O God, convert every curse in my family, town, village and environment to my blessings, in the name of Jesus.
4. Father, help me not to live a fake life again (I am so tired), so that I won’t hinder my own blessings, in the name of Jesus.
5. By Your favour and grace, O Lord, let me be celebrated in my family this year, in the name of Jesus.

1. Thou Herod of my father’s house placing embargo on my destiny, catch fire, and die, in the name of Jesus.

1. Lay your right hands in your chest: Father, let  Your precious blood flush anything causing sickness in my body, in the name of Jesus.
2. Bring out your money and say this: From henceforth, my money shall not separate itself from me, in the name of Jesus.
3. Lay your right hand on your forehead and say this: O Lord, activate the book of my remembrance, in the name of Jesus.

MARATHON PRAYERS

1. Heavenly Father, in any way that I have disobeyed you, please Lord, do not allow me to be forgotten by You, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father Lord, I have sinned against You and against myself in thoughts, words and deeds. I have not right to approach You, have mercy on me, in the name of Jesus.
3. Father Lord, cause me to do the right things at the right time, in the name of Jesus.

MARATHON PRAYERS

1. Every mystery of shame and disgrace upon my life, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
2. Any power using women/men to steal my financial or marital glory, be eliminated now, in the name of Jesus.
3. I scatter the expectation of any wicked blood relation assigned to manipulate me with my names, in the name of Jesus.
4. I purge  out by the blood of Jesus, any evil smell tormenting my life, in the name of Jesus.
5. Any power that want to use my glory to promote themselves, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. The source of my joy shall not be blocked by envious witchcraft, in the name of Jesus.
7. Every dark situation in my life, give ways for the light and mercy of God, in the name of Jesus.

1. O Lord, nullify the evil influence of family strongman upon my life in the name of Jesus.
2. Every job that will not move me forward, change by fire, in Jesus name.
3. Every agent of wickedness in my bloodline, l bind and cast you out with all your roots, in the name of Jesus.
4. Curses pronounced into my life by any blood relations, friends, church members, evil prophets, herbalists, parents, break and die, in the name of Jesus.
5. Any blood covenant in my foundation crying against my destiny; Be silent by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. Any idol or shrine I have sacrificed to without me knowing; be cancelled by the Blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
7. I release myself from the strongholds of my father’s house in the name of Jesus.
