Overcoming the Enemy by Pleading the Blood of Jesus
The blood of Jesus is powerful. It can save, heal, protect, cleanse, deliver and restore. There is no power of darkness that can withstand the authority in the blood of Jesus.
When the enemy sees a believer who understands the power of the blood and knows how to apply it in faith, he trembles because the blood is the evidence that Jesus has already defeated him.
Colossians 2:15 says that Christ spoiled principalities and powers, made a public show of them and triumphed over them through the cross. Therefore, whenever you plead the blood of Jesus, you are standing upon the victory Christ obtained for you at Calvary.
The blood of Jesus can be used to destroy the works of darkness. It can be pleaded against satanic attacks, evil covenants, demonic oppression, spiritual pollution, wicked accusations and the problems sponsored by the kingdom of darkness.
1 John 3:8 says, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” Jesus came to destroy – not to manage – the works of darkness. Therefore, anything planted in your life by the enemy can be uprooted through the authority of Jesus Christ and the power of His blood.
Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” The Bible does not say that they escaped the enemy; it says that they overcame him.
To overcome means to defeat, subdue and rise above an opposing force. This tells us that the blood of Jesus is not merely for defence; it is also a powerful weapon of spiritual warfare.
When the enemy attacks your health, marriage, children, career, finances or spiritual life, do not remain silent. Rise in faith and plead the blood of Jesus against every operation of darkness.
To plead the blood of Jesus means to present the sacrifice and victory of Christ as the foundation of your prayer. It means declaring before God and against the powers of darkness that Jesus has paid the price for your redemption and that your life no longer belongs to the enemy.
When you plead the blood, you are declaring, “I have been purchased by Jesus. I belong to Christ. Satan has no legal ownership over my life.” 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price.” That price is the precious blood of Jesus.
When you plead the blood of Jesus, you are paralysing the operations of darkness over your life. You are placing the mark of Christ’s ownership upon your life, family and possessions.
You are declaring that the powers of darkness cannot operate freely in anything that belongs to Jesus. Every evil hand working against you must withdraw by blood of Jesus.
Every satanic voice speaking against your destiny must be silenced. Every evil covenant placing demands upon your life must bow to the superior covenant established by the blood of Jesus.
Look at what happened in Egypt. God instructed the Israelites to apply the blood of the Passover lamb to the doorposts of their houses. Exodus 12:13 says, “And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you.”
The destroyer entered Egypt, but he could not enter any house marked by the blood. The blood became a sign of separation between the people of God and the Egyptians. Beloved, the blood of Jesus still separates God’s people from the agenda of the destroyer.
The Israelites did not keep the blood inside a container. They applied it to the entrance of their houses according to God’s instruction. In the same way, you must apply the victory of Christ to the different areas of your life through faith and prayer.
Plead the blood of Jesus over your spirit, soul and body. Plead it over your marriage, children, home, business, career and ministry. Plead the blood before travelling, before sleeping, before entering an important meeting and whenever you sense an unusual spiritual attack.
The blood of Jesus can be used against the accusations of the enemy. Satan constantly reminds people of their past sins, mistakes and failures so that they will feel unworthy to approach God.
But Romans 8:33 asks, “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.”
When you have genuinely confessed and forsaken your sins, the blood of Jesus cleanses you, purifies you and silences the voice of condemnation in your life. Refuse to allow the enemy to keep you imprisoned in the guilt of something God has forgiven.
The blood of Jesus can be pleaded for cleansing. Sometimes people become spiritually polluted through sin, ungodly relationships, evil dreams, occult practices or contact with things dedicated to darkness.
1 John 1:7 says, “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” When you repent sincerely and plead the blood, you are asking God to wash away every stain and separate you from every defilement.
The blood cleanses the conscience, restores our fellowship with God and gives us confidence to stand in His presence. The blood of Jesus can be pleaded for protection.
The enemy may set traps, organise accidents or release arrows of sickness, confusion and destruction, but the blood of Jesus can become a spiritual covering over the believer.
Before you leave your house, cover yourself and your family with the blood of Jesus. Before your children go to school, commit them into the hands of God and plead the blood over them.
Before going on a journey, declare that no evil shall befall you and that the blood of Jesus will preserve your going out and coming in.
The blood of Jesus can be used to confront evil dreams. If you dream of eating strange food, receiving an evil mark, being attacked, having sexual encounters, returning to your former house or losing valuable things, wake up and cancel the dream through the blood of Jesus.
Refuse to accept what the enemy presented to you in the dream. Reject it verbally and declare, “By the blood of Jesus, I cancel every evil transaction, covenant and deposit introduced into my life through this dream.” Stand upon Colossians 2:14 and declare that every handwriting against you has been blotted out.
The blood of Jesus can be used to break evil covenants. Some people are battling problems connected to covenants made by their ancestors. Others entered destructive agreements through sin, relationships, occult practices or ungodly ceremonies.
The blood of Jesus established a new and better covenant for us. Hebrews 12:24 says that the blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel.
Therefore, when an evil covenant speaks failure, delay, sickness, barrenness or premature death, the blood of Jesus speaks redemption, mercy, freedom, fruitfulness and life.
The blood of Jesus can be used against household wickedness and ancestral battles. You may have observed that certain problems repeatedly occur within your family. People may rise and suddenly fall.
Marriages may continually scatter or fail. Children may struggle with the same affliction that troubled their parents. When you notice such patterns, do not surrender to them.
Stand upon the finished work of Christ and declare that because you are child of God paid by the blood of Jesus, every inherited evil pattern must end with you.
The blood of Jesus can be used to overcome sickness and disease. Isaiah 53:5 says, “And with his stripes we are healed.” When sickness attacks your body, pray, seek appropriate medical care and continually declare the promises of God.
Plead the blood of Jesus over every organ, tissue, bone, cell and system in your body. Command every strange deposit, infection and affliction to lose its hold. Ask the healing virtue of Christ to flow through your body and restore everything that sickness has damaged.
The blood of Jesus can be pleaded over your home. There are homes where strife, fear, strange sounds, nightmares, sickness and confusion operate continually. Walk through your home in prayer and dedicate every room to God.
Declare that your house belongs to Jesus and that no work of darkness will prosper there. Plead the blood over the doors, windows and everyone living within the home. Remove ungodly or occult objects and refuse to provide the enemy with anything he can use as a point of contact.
The blood of Jesus can be pleaded over your marriage. When the enemy attacks love, communication, trust and unity between a husband and wife, the couple must not fight each other while ignoring the spiritual battle.
Pray together and plead the blood of Jesus against every power sowing confusion, bitterness, immorality and separation. Ask God to cleanse your hearts, restore affection and silence every strange voice speaking against your union.
What God has joined together must not be separated by the operations of darkness. Parents should regularly plead the blood of Jesus over their children. You cannot follow your children everywhere they go, but the presence and protection of God can remain with them.
Plead the blood over their minds so that they will not be corrupted by evil influences. Plead the blood over their friendships, education, health and future. Pray that every trap prepared for them will fail and that they will not become victims of drugs, immorality, violence or destructive relationships.
The blood of Jesus can be pleaded over your business, career and ministry. The enemy may attempt to introduce confusion, loss, rejection, stagnation or disgrace into the work of your hands. But don’t allow fear to control you.
Dedicate your work to God and declare that every satanic embargo against your progress is broken. Plead the blood against manipulations, false accusations and the withdrawal of helpers. Ask God to establish the work of your hands and cause your light to shine.
Beloved, you must learn to plead the blood of Jesus specifically. Do not pray carelessly when you know the area under attack. If the enemy is attacking your health, plead the blood over your body. If your marriage is under attack, plead the blood over your spouse and marriage covenant.
If your children are being influenced negatively, plead the blood over their hearts and relationships. If your dreams are polluted, plead the blood over your sleep and spiritual life. Address the battle directly and declare the victory of Christ over it.
You must also plead the blood consistently. The Israelites were commanded to keep the blood upon their doors throughout the night. Do not wait until a major attack occurs before you begin to pray. Plead the blood every morning and night.
Plead it when you feel strong and when you feel weak. Plead it when everything appears peaceful and when the battle becomes intense. A soldier does not wait until the enemy is standing beside him before putting on his armour.
However, pleading the blood must be accompanied by holiness and obedience. You cannot plead the blood while deliberately living in sin and rebellion. The same blood that protects also cleanses, and the same blood that delivers also calls us into a life of holiness.
If there is sin in your life, confess it and ask God for mercy. Close every door you have opened to the enemy. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Your submission to God strengthens your resistance against the devil.
Plead the blood with faith, not fear. Some people mention the blood of Jesus only because they are terrified of the enemy. But the blood is not the cry of a defeated person; it is the declaration of someone standing in the victory of Christ.
When you plead the blood, believe that God hears you. Believe that the sacrifice of Jesus is sufficient for you. Believe that the enemy has been defeated and that no weapon formed against you shall prosper.
You must combine the blood of Jesus with the word of your testimony. Revelation 12:11 says they overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Your testimony is your confession of faith.
Declare what Jesus has done for you. Say, “I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus. I am delivered from the power of darkness. I belong to Christ. My sins are forgiven. My life is hidden with Christ in God. Satan has no authority over me.”
But do not plead the blood and later cancel your prayers with negative words. Do not pray for victory and then confess defeat throughout the day. Do not plead the blood over your marriage and declare that it may never work.
Let your words agree with your prayers. The blood of Jesus and the word of your testimony must work together.
Beloved, the blood of Jesus is more powerful than every witchcraft power, marine power, ancestral power, household enemy, evil altar and demonic covenant. The enemy may boast, threaten and attempt to intimidate you, but he cannot overturn the sacrifice of Christ in your life.
The blood of Jesus is the eternal evidence that the price for your freedom has been paid. Therefore, rise in faith and begin to declare the blood against every power troubling your life.
When you plead the blood of Jesus, you are declaring that darkness has no legal right to remain. You are paralysing satanic operations, silencing evil voices, cancelling evil agreements and frustrating the expectations of the wicked.
You are drawing a spiritual boundary and declaring that the enemy cannot cross it. You are announcing that your life, family and possessions belong to Jesus Christ.
Beloved, do not remain silent while the enemy is actively working against you. Plead the blood of Jesus against every evil arrow. Plead the blood against sickness and premature death. Plead the blood against failure, delay and disappointment.
Plead the blood against evil dreams and spiritual pollution. Plead the blood over your home, marriage, children, career, business and ministry. Declare that every work of darkness must be destroyed because Jesus has already triumphed over principalities and powers.
I declare that as you plead the blood of Jesus today, every operation of darkness over your life shall be paralysed. Every evil voice speaking against you shall be silenced. Every covenant of affliction shall be broken.
Every satanic accusation shall be cancelled. The blood of Jesus shall speak deliverance, healing, protection, restoration and victory over you and your household. You shall overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimony, in Jesus’ name.
Personal Challenge
Examine your life today and ask yourself whether you truly understand what the blood of Jesus means or whether you only mention it when you are afraid. Identify one area where you have been praying for victory but have not yet taken responsibility.
It may be unforgiveness, sexual sin, fear, anger, dishonest behaviour, spiritual laziness, occult involvement, poor discipline, or a habit that continually gives room to the enemy. Do not hide it. Bring it before God and make a decision to close that door.
Spend time today reading Revelation 12:11, Hebrews 9:11–14, Colossians 1:12–14, and 1 John 1:7–9. Write down what these passages teach you about redemption, cleansing, forgiveness, and victory through Christ.
Let your confidence move you away from fear and become firmly rooted in what Jesus has accomplished. If there is something in your life that contradicts your confession of Christ, begin dealing with it today. If you need to forgive, forgive. If you need to apologise, apologise.
If you need to stop a sinful habit, take practical steps to stop it. If you need to remove something that continually draws you back into darkness, remove it. If you need wise counsel, seek it.
Before you sleep tonight, thank Jesus specifically for His blood that was shed for you. Do not only ask Him to fight your enemies. Thank Him for salvation, forgiveness, cleansing, access to God, deliverance from the power of darkness, and the hope of eternal life.
Then declare with understanding: “I belong to Jesus Christ. I have been redeemed by His blood. I reject fear, condemnation, and every work of darkness. I will honour the blood of Jesus with the way I live, in Jesus’ name.”
