EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: September 6, 2026 – Recovering What Was Stolen in the Dream

To recover means to regain something that was lost, taken away, or is no longer under your control or possession. When something is taken from you, whether in reality or in a dream, it carries the symbol of loss and frustration.

In waking life, thieves do not steal what has no value to them. They look for money, phones, jewellery, documents, property, vehicles, or anything they believe will benefit them.

In the same way, when a person repeatedly dreams of valuable things being stolen, removed, exchanged, or misplaced, such a dream should not be treated carelessly.

It may be drawing attention to an area of life where loss is occurring, where the person feels vulnerable, or where prayer and wisdom are urgently needed. Such a dream may also be a sign that the enemy has used a charm to divert your blessings away from you.

Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” The nature of a thief is to take what does not belong to him for his own advantage.

God has given us so many things both known and unknown things. But spiritually, Satan does not want believers to enjoy the fullness of what God has given them.

Unfortunately, he carries out his work through temptation, deception, fear, distraction, discouragement, wrong decisions, and destructive relationships, all designed to reduce a believer’s effectiveness and work against their progress. This is why believers must remain alert and watchful.

If things frequently go missing in your dreams, one important prayer you need to pray is the prayer against loss or prayer for complete restoration. Ask God to preserve what He has given you and to help you identify any area where you have become careless.

Sometimes the loss experienced in a dream may concern an opportunity is eyeing after At other times, it concerns the peace, confidence, finances, relationships, focus, or progress the enemy does not want you to enjoy. The dream may simply be a warning that something valuable needs to be protected.

You must also understand that things can be lost in different ways. Something can be stolen by another person, but something can also be lost through negligence.

A person can lose money to fraud, while another loses money through lack of financial security. A person can lose an opportunity because someone worked against him, while another loses an opportunity because he failed to prepare or missed a deadline.

Therefore, when you pray against loss, also ask God to reveal any habit, decision or reasons that may be creating unnecessary loss in your life.

David did not rush after the enemy without first consulting God. He asked, “Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them?” And the Lord answered him, “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” Recovery requires divine direction.

Sometimes the dream is pointing to a careless habit, a wrong association, a neglected responsibility, or a spiritual weakness that must be corrected. Ask God to show you what the dream means and what action you must take.

The words “without fail recover all” are powerful. God did not promise David partial restoration; He promised complete recovery.

1 Samuel 30:19 records that David recovered all, small and great, sons and daughters, and everything the enemy had taken. Nothing was missing. This shows that no loss is too great for God to restore. He can restore what was taken from you recently, and He can restore what has disappeared many years ago.

Whatever the enemy has stolen from you, whether it is your peace, your finances, your marriage, your health, your destiny, or your years, God is still in the business of full recovery. He is not a God of partial restoration. What He restores, He restores completely.

When money is stolen from you in a dream, it may represent an attack against your finances, your value, your opportunities, or the rewards of your labour. It may be warning you about financial carelessness, fraud, unwise investment, or people who want to take advantage of you.

Pray against financial loss, but also examine your decisions. Protect your bank information, avoid suspicious transactions, and seek wise counsel before making major financial commitments. Spiritual warfare does not replace practical wisdom.

If you dream that your hair is forcefully cut, shaved or removed, it may represent loss of honour, power, glory or an attempt to reduce your strength. Samson’s hair was connected to the covenant surrounding his consecration, and when it was cut, his strength departed.

Pray for the restoration of everything that represents dignity, strength and spiritual discipline in your life. Also examine whether carelessness or wrong relationships have exposed you to unnecessary vulnerability.

When your shoes are stolen in a dream, it may represent an attack against your movement, your direction, your progress, or your preparation. Shoes enable a person to walk comfortably toward a destination.

Losing them may indicate difficulty moving forward, confusion about the next step, or an attempt to delay your journey. Pray for God to restore your direction and remove every obstacle from your path. Also examine whether you have made choices that are taking you away from God’s will.

When your clothes are stolen or removed from you in a dream, it may point to an attack against your honour, dignity, identity, or reputation. Garments often carry symbolic meaning in Scripture.

Joseph’s coat represented the special favour of his father, while the prodigal son received the best robe when he was restored. If your garment is stolen, pray against shame and disgrace and loss of glory. Ask God to clothe you with favour, righteousness, and honour.

When a bag, purse, or wallet is stolen in a dream, it may represent the loss of personal resources, important documents, or opportunities. A bag carries things that are valuable and necessary for a journey.

Such a dream may be warning you to protect your possessions and personal information. Spiritually, pray that no power will empty your life of its benefits or divert the resources God has given you.

If you dream that your voice is taken away or you are unable to speak, it may point to an attack against your confidence, authority, prayer life or ability to defend yourself.

The enemy wants to silence your testimony and make you powerless before opposition. Pray that God will restore your voice and give you boldness.

Psalm 81:10 says, “Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Refuse to become silent where God expects you to speak, pray or testify.

When a key is stolen from you in the dream, it may represent an attack against your access, authority, solutions or the ability to open a new season.

A key gives entrance and control. Losing it may indicate that something is attempting to block your access or delay an answer.

Pray that God will restore every key of knowledge, favour, authority and opportunity that has been taken from you. Jesus said in Revelation 3:7 that what He opens, no one can shut.

If your phone is stolen in a dream, it may represent an attack against communication, information, relationships or important connections. The enemy may be trying to create misunderstanding, isolation or disconnection from your helpers.

Pray for the restoration of communication and divine connections. At the same time, address any broken relationships or neglected conversations that may require humility and wisdom.

If your passport, visa or travel ticket is stolen, torn or missing in a dream, it may point to attack on your plans, goals, movement, relocation, international opportunity or delay in an important journey.

Pray against every power assigned to block your advancement. Also ensure that your physical documents, applications and deadlines are handled carefully.

When a certificate, identification card, or official document is stolen in a dream, it may represent an attack against your identity, your qualification, your recognition, or your professional progress. It may also reflect anxiety about your employment or status.

Pray that no one will take your position, manipulate your records, or prevent you from receiving what you have earned. At the same time, secure your documents and address any real life administrative issue that requires attention, wisdom, and prayer.

When food is taken from you in a dream, it may symbolise an attack against provision, nourishment, or the fruit of your labour.

In Genesis 40, Pharaoh’s baker dreamed that birds ate the baked goods from the basket on his head, and the dream carried a serious message concerning his future.

If you repeatedly see people or animals taking your food, pray against devourers and financial waste. Ask God to protect the work of your hands and give you wisdom to manage His provision.

When your wedding ring, spouse, or wedding garment is taken in a dream, it may point to fears or conflict concerning marriage and covenant.

It may mean that the enemy is attempting to steal the affection your spouse has for you and redirect it elsewhere. Pray against separation, unfaithfulness, bitterness, and third party interference. Then communicate wisely with your spouse and seek godly counsel where necessary.

When a child is taken from you in a dream, it can be deeply frightening. It may reflect concern for the child’s safety, future, or spiritual condition. Pray for God’s protection, wisdom, and preservation over the child, and pay attention to the child’s wellbeing, friendships, health, and environment.

When your car, bicycle, or means of transportation is stolen in a dream, it may indicate a threat against your movement, your direction, your independence, or the fulfilment of your plans. It may also be a practical reminder to take security seriously.

Pray against diversion, delay, and accidents. Ask God to guide your decisions and prevent anyone from hijacking your journey.

Some people dream that they are given torn clothes, damaged shoes, counterfeit money or broken objects in exchange for something valuable.

This may symbolise an evil substitution; something inferior is attempting to replace what is genuine and profitable in your life.

Reject every wrong exchange in your life through prayer. Ask God for discernment so that you will not accept counterfeit relationships, opportunities or blessings merely because they appear attractive.

When a Bible, anointing oil or spiritual object is stolen from you in a dream, it may symbolise an attack against your prayer life, faith, spiritual confidence or commitment to God. The enemy wants you to become spiritually dry and powerless.

If you notice that after such dreams you still lose the desire to pray, read the Bible or attend fellowship, do not accept that condition. Return to God immediately and rebuild your spiritual altar.

RECOVERY PROCESS

Beloved, the first step towards recovering what was stolen is genuine repentance. Sin can open doors to the enemy and weaken a person’s spiritual defence. When such doors remain open, the enemy may continue to steal, afflict and hinder your restoration.

Proverbs 28:13 says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Examine your life carefully, confess every known sin and ask God for forgiveness and mercy.

Renounce every habit, relationship and practice that dishonours God. It is difficult to experience lasting recovery while preserving the same doorway through which destruction entered. Close every spiritual door through repentance, surrender fully to Christ and begin to walk in obedience.

This is why Israel could not stand before their enemies at Ai. Achan had taken what was forbidden and hidden it in his tent, and that hidden sin brought defeat and loss to the whole camp.

It was only when the sin was confessed and dealt with that victory returned and the enemy could no longer stand against them. In the same way, some believers keep praying for recovery while there is an Achan still hiding in their tent, an unconfessed sin, a secret compromise, a grudge, or a habit they refuse to let go.

Until that thing is dealt with, the door remains open for the enemy to keep stealing what God has provided. Let repentance come first, and let restoration follow.

The second way to recover is by cancelling the evil dream through prayer. When you wake up from a disturbing dream, resist the urge to turn over and continue sleeping as though nothing happened. Rise and pray immediately, rejecting every evil transaction, agreement and loss that occurred in the dream.

Plead the blood of Jesus over your life and declare that every satanic operation has been cancelled. Command everything stolen from you to be restored, and continue praying until fear disappears and the peace of God fills your heart.

The third way to recover is by standing firmly upon the Word of God. Your prayers must be rooted in Scripture because God’s Word carries the authority to overturn every evil verdict revealed through the dream. Isaiah 55:11 declares that His Word will never return to Him empty but will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it.

Declare 1 Samuel 30:8 over your life: “I shall pursue, overtake and without fail recover all.” Declare Joel 2:25: “The Lord will restore the years that the locust has eaten.” Declare Obadiah 1:17: “Upon Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, holiness and possession.”

Whenever the enemy presents a picture of loss, answer it with God’s promise of restoration. Refuse to accept the dream as the final verdict over your life.

The dream may reveal what the enemy intends to do, but the Word of God reveals what the Almighty has the power to reverse. Keep declaring the Scriptures until your heart is strengthened, your faith rises and everything stolen from you is restored.

The fourth way to recover is through the blood of Jesus. Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” The blood of Jesus is a powerful weapon of redemption, cleansing, deliverance and restoration. It speaks better things than every evil covenant and silences every satanic claim against the life of a believer.

Plead the blood of Jesus against every evil transaction, exchange, agreement and loss connected to the dream. Declare that whatever was stolen, diverted or transferred must be returned.

By His blood, Jesus paid the full price for your redemption and delivered you from the authority of darkness. Therefore, no power has the legal right to hold your virtues, opportunities, blessings or possessions in captivity.

Stand in faith and declare, “My life belongs to Jesus Christ. I have been purchased by His blood. Every satanic claim over my destiny is cancelled, and everything stolen from me is restored.” Keep applying the blood of Jesus in prayer until every operation of darkness is paralysed and your victory is established, in Jesus’ name.

The fifth way to recover is through persistent prayer. Some battles require more prayers to break it. Jesus taught in Luke 18:1 that people ought always to pray and not to faint. Persistent prayer demonstrates spiritual seriousness, strengthens your faith and keeps you standing until the enemy releases everything stolen from you.

When dreams of loss continue to repeat themselves, set aside quality time to seek God fervently. Pray consistently, fast according to your health and ability, meditate on relevant Scriptures and invite spiritually mature believers to agree with you in prayer.

Elijah prayed repeatedly until the promised rain appeared, and Daniel continued praying until the resistance delaying his answer was overcome.

Persistence in prayer does not suggest that God is unwilling to answer. It shows that your faith refuses to surrender to delay, discouragement or opposition. Keep praying until the pattern of loss is broken, your peace is restored and the evidence of recovery begins to manifest.

The sixth way to recover is by taking practical action. A dream may expose an area where carelessness, poor judgement or lack of discipline has made you vulnerable to loss.

Once the weakness becomes clear, take the necessary steps to correct it. Prayer should lead to wisdom, obedience and responsible action.

If the dream concerns your finances, review your spending habits, secure your accounts and avoid questionable investments. If it concerns your marriage, improve communication and address unresolved issues with wisdom.

If it concerns your health, seek proper medical examination and follow professional advice. If it concerns your job, improve your performance, develop your skills and safeguard important documents.

If it concerns your business, examine your records, agreements and partnerships carefully. Nehemiah prayed about the broken walls of Jerusalem, but he also arose and rebuilt them.

In the same way, combine prayer with practical effort. Ask God for direction, follow His instructions and take deliberate steps to recover, rebuild and protect what He has entrusted to you.

The seventh way to recover is through forgiveness. Holding on to bitterness can keep you emotionally and spiritually connected to the painful season God wants you to leave behind. As long as the offence controls your heart, it may continue to steal your peace, joy and strength.

Forgiveness is not an endorsement of wrongdoing, neither does it remove accountability or prevent you from setting healthy boundaries. It means placing the matter in God’s hands, surrendering every desire for revenge and denying hatred the opportunity to rule your heart.

Joseph forgave the brothers who betrayed him, and their actions could not stop him from embracing the future God had prepared for him.

Ask the Lord to heal your wounds, cleanse your heart from bitterness and give you wisdom in handling difficult relationships. As you release the offence, you make room for peace, healing and restoration.

The eighth way to recover is by praising God. Paul and Silas praised God in prison, and the doors opened. Praise shifts your attention from the power of the enemy to the greatness of God.

When you praise God after a troubling dream, you are declaring that the dream will not control your day. You are announcing that God remains faithful and that the enemy does not have the final word.

Beloved, do not allow the enemy to steal from you twice. The first theft may be what was shown in the dream, but the second theft occurs when fear steals your peace, concentration and confidence.

Some people become so frightened by a dream that they cannot function. They spend the whole day expecting tragedy. Reject that fear. Second Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

You must also guard your testimony after praying. Never cancel your prayers with negative confessions. Having declared that God will restore you, refuse to turn around and say, “Everything has been taken from me.” Speak in agreement with the Word of God.

Say, “I shall recover all. My blessings shall not be diverted. My virtues shall not be exchanged. What God has given me shall not be stolen.”

Restoration may not always mean receiving the exact thing you lost in the same form. Sometimes God restores by giving you something better, healthier and more aligned with His purpose.

Job lost possessions, children and health, but God restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. Refuse to limit the method God may use for your restoration. Your responsibility is to remain faithful and trust Him.

Joel 2:25 shows us that God can restore things stolen years ago. People can replace money, but only God can redeem our wasted time. Perhaps you lost your precious years through sickness, wrong relationships, addiction, delay or poor decisions.

The God of restoration can compress seasons, open unexpected doors and cause you to accomplish things in a short time what seemed impossible for many years.

Resist the temptation to search for a human enemy behind every troubling dream, because our battle is not against flesh and blood.

Accusing family members, friends or neighbours without clear evidence can create unnecessary fear, bitterness and division. Focus your prayers on the spiritual battle and ask God for wisdom and discernment.

Beloved, recovery is not only about retrieving what was taken; it is also about destroying the power that keeps stealing from you. If a thief enters your home repeatedly and you only replace the stolen items without securing the entrance, the losses will continue.

Beloved, the fact that the enemy attempted to steal something from you or already stolen something from you does not mean he has succeeded permanently. A dream of loss can reveal a need for you to wake you up to pray before damage occurs.

After recovery, avoid returning to the habits that contributed to the former loss. Jesus healed a man at the pool of Bethesda and later told him in John 5:14, “Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

God’s mercy gives people another opportunity, but that opportunity must not be treated carelessly. Learn from the previous season and ensure you are carefully this time.

You must also recognise that certain things are better left behind or should not be recovered. Not everything that departed from your life was not necessarily stolen by the enemy.
God may have removed some relationships, habits, opportunities and environments because they were hindering His purpose for you.

Avoid pursuing what God has already delivered you from. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment so that you can recover what genuinely belongs to your destiny and ignore what has lost its value.

If God reveals a battle to you, it is because He wants you to pray. Never surrender your possessions, opportunities, relationships, health or spiritual strength to the enemy. Rise and declare that you will pursue, overtake and recover all.

Beloved, recovery begins when you understand what has been stolen. You cannot pursue effectively when you do not know what is missing.

Some people are praying only for money, yet what the enemy attacked was their confidence, discernment, prayer life or ability to recognise opportunities.

Others are asking God for open doors when the real loss is the wisdom required to enter and remain in those doors. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the exact area of your life that needs restoration.

Sometimes, what is stolen in a dream is not an object but an ability. You may dream that you suddenly cannot speak, walk, see, hear, write or remember important information.

Such a dream may represent an attack against your expression, progress, spiritual perception, understanding or effectiveness.

Pray that every ability weakened by darkness will receive divine strength. Declare that your voice, vision, wisdom and capacity to advance shall be restored.

Beloved, perhaps the enemy thought you would never notice what was missing. Perhaps he expected you to accept repeated loss as your normal condition.

But today, your spiritual eyes are opening. You will no longer celebrate survival while your possessions remain in captivity.

You will arise in prayer, follow divine instruction and pursue what belongs to you. Every lawful possession assigned to your destiny shall return.

The God who restored Job, recovered David’s household, returned Naomi’s joy and rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem is still alive. He can restore your lost years, rebuild your confidence and reconnect you with opportunities.

He can turn emptiness into abundance and mourning into dancing. Refuse to end your story at the point of loss. Your chapter of recovery has begun.

I declare that every thief hiding in darkness to steal from you shall be exposed. Every gate holding your blessings shall open by fire. Every chain tying your opportunities to the wrong place shall break by fire.

The Lord will guide all your steps, strengthen your hands and give you wisdom to rebuild something precious again. You shall not recover partially; you shall pursue, overtake and recover all without fail, in Jesus’ name.

Today, I declare that everything the enemy has stolen from you shall be restored. Your stolen peace shall return. Your lost opportunities shall be replaced immediately.

Your diverted helpers shall locate you this time. Your wasted years shall be restored by divine mercy. Every good thing buried, hidden or withheld from your life shall be released by the power of God.

Personal Challenge

Today, take time to examine the areas of your life where you have experienced repeated loss, delay, failure, missed opportunities, financial setbacks, or mistakes, avoid blaming every loss on the enemy.

Examine yourself honestly and ask, “What am I losing, what may be contributing to it, and what can I begin to do differently?” Prayer becomes more effective when it is accompanied by sincere reflection, wisdom and responsible action.

If you have been having dreams where your money, shoes, clothes, handbag, documents, or other valuable items are stolen, pray seriously against loss, but also become more watchful in your waking life.

Protect your finances, prepare properly for opportunities, guard your reputation, keep important documents safely, avoid careless decisions, and do not ignore warning signs.

Write down one area where you need restoration and one practical action you can take immediately. If you have lost focus, or your position, If you have lost your job, pray for mercy and direction.

If you have lost money through poor choices, begin practising financial discipline. If you have lost confidence, stop allowing past failure to determine your future.
