Topic: Prioritize Your Relationship With God

Opening Scriptures (KJV)

Matthew 6:33: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Luke 10:38–42: “Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Psalm 63:1: “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.”

Memory Verse

James 4:8: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

Praise and Worship

Begin today by worshipping God for who He is and not merely for what you want Him to do for you. Thank Him for salvation, mercy, protection, provision, answered prayers, and the privilege of having fellowship with Him.

Lay aside your worries, ambitions, responsibilities, and requests for a moment and simply adore Him.

Tell the Lord sincerely, “Father, above everything I am pursuing in this life, help me never to lose my relationship with You.

Draw me closer to You, restore my spiritual hunger, and let nothing become more important to me than walking faithfully with You.”

EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: August 25, 2026 – Prioritize Your Relationship With God

Many believers today are busy for God but no longer close to God. They serve Him faithfully, yet they rarely close with Him intimately.

Beloved, the church at Ephesus was commended for their labour, their patience, and their discernment against false apostles, yet Jesus still had a serious complaint against them: they had left their first love.

Today, the Holy Ghost is calling us back to the one thing that must never be replaced by any other thing which is our relationship with God Himself.

Beloved, the most important relationship you will ever have is your relationship with God. Your relationship with your spouse is important.

Your relationship with your children is important. Your relationship with your parents, friends, colleagues, business partners, church members, and people around you matters, but none of these relationships should replace your relationship with God.

People can encourage you, support you, advise you, pray with you, and stand beside you, but there are places in life where only God can sustain you. There are battles nobody knows you are fighting secretly. There are questions nobody can completely answer on your behalf.

There are seasons when people you expected to remain around you may become unavailable. If your entire strength is built upon human relationships, you will struggle whenever those relationships change. This is why you must intentionally build your relationship with God.

Many believers want the blessings of God without genuinely desiring closeness with God. They want the open doors. They want marriage. They want children. They want money. They want promotion. They want healing. They want protection. They want the business breakthrough.

They want a visa. They want ministry growth. They want prophecy. They want miracles.  There is nothing wrong with bringing these desires before God, but beloved, God must become more than the One you visit whenever you need something.

Imagine having a friend who only calls you when they need money. They never ask how you are doing. They never spend time with you. They disappear immediately after receiving help, and when another problem arises, they suddenly remember your number.

Eventually, you would realise that the person is more interested in what you can provide for them than in having a relationship with you.

Unfortunately, some people treat God this way. When there is trouble, they pray. When the problem disappears, they see no need to pray. When they need employment, they remain humble. When the job comes, they become too proud and busy for God.

When they need a spouse, they attend every prayer meeting. And after marriage, they no longer have time for fellowship. When they are waiting for a child, they seek God desperately. When the testimony comes, the blessing gradually occupies the place that belonged to God. And at the end of the day we are human.

Beloved, never allow the blessing you prayed for to become the reason you no longer pray. Never allow the job God gave you to take you away from the God who gave you the strength to work. Never allow marriage to replace God. Never allow children to replace God.

Never allow business to replace God. Never allow ministry itself to replace God. Never allow the love for money, success, fame, influence, relationships, social media, entertainment, or ambition to become more important than your fellowship with your heavenly Father.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.” Notice the word first. Jesus was teaching us about priority. Many things may be important, but everything cannot occupy first place or compete with the first position of God in our life. God must come first.

Your priorities are not determined merely by what you say is important; they are often revealed by what consistently receives your time, attention, affection, energy, and obedience.

A person can say, “God is number one in my life,” but spend hours every day on entertainment and thereby struggle to give God ten focused minutes.

A person can wake up and immediately check their WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, emails, messages, and news before remembering that another day of life has been given to them by God.

Beloved, your phone should not continually receive the first attention of your morning while God receives whatever is left after everything else has occupied your mind.

Your phone is a useful tool, but do not allow it to become your spiritual master. There are times you must put it away. There are messages that can wait. There are notifications that do not require immediate attention. There are conversations you do not need to enter.

Jesus taught in Matthew 6:6 about entering the closet to pray. The principle is intentional separation from distraction. Find a time and place where your attention can genuinely be directed toward God. David said in Psalm 63:1, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.”

There was hunger in David’s heart. He did not only seek what God could give him; he said, “My soul thirsteth for thee.” When last did your soul genuinely thirst for God? When last did you pray without asking for money, marriage, promotion, protection, deliverance, or another material need?

When last did you simply say, “Father, I want to know You more”? When last did you open your Bible because you genuinely wanted to hear from God’s Word and not merely because you need prayer points to fight your enemies? When last did you worship God sincerely for long without rushing?

Beloved, your relationship with God requires time. Every meaningful relationship requires communication. For example, if a husband and wife live together but never communicate, intimacy will eventually suffer. If two friends stop communicating with each other for years, the closeness they once enjoyed may be affected.

In the same way, you cannot continually neglect prayer, Scripture, worship, obedience, and fellowship with God and expect your spiritual life to remain strong. Prayer is communication with God. Scripture allows God’s truth to shape our mind and reveal His character and will.

The act of worship turns your attention toward Him. Obedience demonstrates that you take His Word seriously. These are not religious burdens; they are part of cultivating fellowship with God. Some people say, “I am too busy to pray.”

Beloved, you are not too busy; you have simply allowed other things to become higher priorities in your life. Everybody receives 24 hours in a day. You may genuinely have heavy responsibilities, but you will still make time for what you consider necessary.

Jesus Himself demonstrated the importance of withdrawing to pray. Mark 1:35 says, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” If Jesus made room for prayer during His earthly ministry, why do we think we can live effectively without prayer?

Jesus had people looking for Him. He had crowds demanding His attention. He had disciples around Him. He had ministry responsibilities. Yet He withdrew to pray. Beloved, busyness should drive you toward God, not away from Him.

One of the greatest dangers in Christianity is becoming busy for God while becoming distant from God. You can preach sermons and neglect your prayer life. You can sing in the choir and lose your hunger for God. You can lead prayer meetings and privately become spiritually dry.

You can counsel people and forget to examine your own heart. You can manage church programmes, answer ministry calls, organise crusades, produce Christian content, and become so busy doing the work of God that you no longer spend meaningful time with the God of the work.

Beloved pastor, evangelist, prophet, teacher, worship leader, church worker, counsellor, and minister: your public ministry cannot replace your private walk with God. The fact that people call you “Daddy,” “Mummy,” “Man of God,” or “Woman of God” does not mean your spiritual life is healthy.

Titles cannot sustain you. Followers cannot sustain you. A large congregation cannot sustain you. Social-media engagement cannot sustain you. You need a personal altar. You need moments when nobody is watching, nobody is applauding you, and there is no microphone in your hand, just you and God.

Your relationship with God must also be built upon His Word. You cannot know God properly while continually neglecting Scripture. Acts 17:11 commended the Bereans because they searched the Scriptures daily to determine whether the things they heard were true.

Beloved, to build your relationship with God. Feed your spirit daily with the word of God. Do not depend entirely upon somebody else’s revelation. Listen to sermons regularly, Read Christian books, yes. Receive biblical teaching, But open the Scriptures for yourself. Know what God has said.

Prioritising God also means prioritising obedience. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” You cannot say, “I love God,” when you deliberately choosing a lifestyle you know contradicts His Word and then refusing correction.

Relationship with God is not merely emotional. It is possible to cry during worship and still refuse to forgive. You can shout during prayer and still cheat people in business. You can speak in tongues and still lie habitually. You can attend church every week and still treat your spouse terribly. Beloved, spiritual intimacy must produce transformation.

Ask yourself: Is my relationship with God changing my character? Am I becoming more truthful? More patient? More forgiving? More disciplined? More compassionate? More humble? More willing to repent when I am wrong? If years of religious activity are producing no visible transformation in your character, something requires immediate attention.

Sin is one of the greatest enemies of intimacy with God. When you continually entertain what God has told you to forsake, your spiritual sensitivity begins to weaken. Prayer becomes difficult to exercise. Scripture becomes uninteresting. Your conviction are fading away.

Eventually, things that once troubled your conscience begin to feel normal in your spirit. This is dangerous. Do not wait until sin becomes deeply rooted in your life before dealing with it. When the Holy Spirit convicts you, repent. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God is not calling you to hide from Him; He is calling you to return to Him openly.

You must also prioritize God when He does not appear to be answering your prayers the way you expected. This is another major test of relationship. Some people love God enthusiastically as long as everything appears to be working. But after prolonged disappointment, they become angry with Him.

They prayed for something and it did not happen. They fasted and the situation remained the same. They believed for a particular outcome and received something different. Then they begin to feel uninterested to pray. Beloved, mature relationship with God must become deeper than transactions.

Habakkuk 3:17–18 describes a situation where the fig tree did not blossom, there was no fruit on the vines, the fields yielded no meat, and the flock was cut off, yet the prophet said, “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” That is mature faith. It says, “God, I do not understand everything happening around me, but I refuse to abandon You.” God is not worthy only when He gives you what you want. He is worthy because He is God.

Beloved, if your relationship with God is important, you will protect it from sin. Psalm 66:18 says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” This does not mean believers will never stumble, but there is a difference between struggling against sin and deliberately making peace with sin.

Do not become comfortable with what God is convicting you about. The devil often uses shame after a fall to push people farther away from God. They sin, feel guilty, stop praying, stop reading Scripture, avoid fellowship, and gradually become spiritually weaker. That is the wrong direction.

Beloved, God should not merely be the Person you run to when every other option has failed. He should be the centre of your life in good seasons and difficult seasons. David said in Psalm 63:1, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.” David was not merely seeking what was in God’s hands; his soul was thirsty for God Himself.

There is a level of spiritual maturity where your prayer changes from only “Lord, give me this, Lord, open this door, Lord, give me money, Lord, give me marriage, Lord, give me promotion” to “Lord, I want to know You better, Lord, correct me, Lord, change my character, Lord, reveal what is displeasing to You in my life, Lord, make me more like Christ, Lord, teach me to obey You.”

When your relationship with God becomes important to you, you will seek Him even when you do not have an urgent prayer request You must also be careful about relationships that continually affect your walk with God. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”

The people closest to you can influence you. If your closest relationships continually pressure you to compromise, mock your convictions, encourage sin, feed you with bitterness, or draw you away from spiritual discipline, you need wisdom and boundaries.

This does not mean isolating yourself from everybody who is not spiritually mature, but you must recognize dangerous influence and manipulations. Ask yourself this question honestly, “Who am I becoming because of the people around me?” A good friend should not continually make holiness harder.

A romantic relationship should not continually drag you away from God. A business partnership should not require you to sacrifice integrity. Nobody should become so important to you that keeping them requires disobeying God.

Some people have allowed disappointment to damage their relationship with God. You prayed and did not receive the answer you expected. Somebody you loved died despite your prayers. A relationship ended. A business failed. A door closed.

You waited for years and nothing happened according to your timetable.  Somewhere inside your heart, you became offended with God. You still attend church, but something changed. You no longer pray with the same openness. Beloved, bring your disappointment honestly before God.

The Psalms show us people speaking honestly about pain, confusion, fear, and unanswered questions. God can handle your questions. Do not allow what you do not understand to permanently separate you from the One you need most.

Sometimes your relationship with God becomes weak gradually, not suddenly. Nobody wakes up one morning and deliberately says, “From today, I will become spiritually cold.” It happens little by little. You miss prayer today. You postpone Bible study tomorrow.

You become too busy for fellowship next week. Your mind becomes occupied with money, relationships, work, and worries. Three months later, you realise you no longer have the hunger you once had. Beloved, spiritual decline often begins with small neglect. This is why you must pay attention to your spiritual condition.

Remember where you used to be with God. Perhaps there was a time when you could not begin your day without prayer. There was a time when you enjoyed reading Scripture. There was a time when worship moved your heart. There was a time when sin troubled your conscience deeply.

There was a time when you looked forward to fellowship. There was a time when you used to fast and pray every week. If those things have disappeared, do not simply blame yourself for the mistake, simply ask God to revive you.

Revelation 2:4–5 records Christ saying to the church at Ephesus, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works.” Notice the progression: remember, repent, return to the first works. Sometimes restoration begins by going back to the disciplines you abandoned.

Beloved, prioritising God will sometimes require saying no to other things. You may need to reduce the time you spend online. You may need to wake up earlier. You may need to stop certain conversations that continually pollute your mind.

You may need to reconsider friendships that constantly pull you toward compromise. You may need to organise your schedule better. You may need to turn off notifications during prayer. You may need to create a quiet place where you can seek God without distraction. Spiritual growth requires intentionality.

Beloved, perhaps there was a time when you were closer to God than you are now. There was a season when prayer was something you enjoyed. You loved Scripture. You were sensitive to conviction. You enjoyed worship. You were careful about your spiritual life.

But gradually something happened. Maybe success distracted you. Maybe disappointment discouraged you. Maybe sin killed your abilities. Maybe offence entered your heart. Maybe your responsibilities increased. Maybe you became exhausted. Maybe social media and entertainment consumed the time you once gave to God.

Maybe nothing dramatic happened; you simply became careless. Today, God is calling you back. Jeremiah 3:22 says, “Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings.” Do not sit there merely remembering how spiritual you used to be. Return. Return to prayer. Return to Scripture. Return to worship. Return to obedience. Return to fellowship. Return to repentance. Return to the place where Christ becomes central again.

Do not wait until you “feel spiritual” before praying. Discipline sometimes comes before desire. There will be mornings when you feel excited to pray, and there will be night when you do not. Pray anyway.

There will be days when Scripture feels deeply inspiring, and there may be days when concentration is difficult. Continue reading. Relationships are not sustained only by feelings; but they are sustained by commitment.

Beloved, it is also possible to become so busy working for God that you stop spending meaningful time with God. This is one of the lessons in the story of Martha and Mary. Martha was not committing an immoral act; she was serving. She was doing something useful, but Luke 10:40 says she was “cumbered about much serving.”

Mary, however, sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. Jesus said, “One thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part.” This is a serious warning to everyone involved in Christian service. You can preach about prayer and have a weak personal prayer life.

You can prepare sermons for other people while Scripture is no longer transforming you personally. You can lead worship without privately worshipping God. You can counsel people every day and become spiritually exhausted because you are continually giving without sitting at Jesus’ feet yourself.

Before you stand before people, learn to sit before God.  Before you speak to people about God, continually speak to God yourself. Before you pour into other people’s lives, allow God to continually pour His Word, wisdom, correction, and strength into you.

Prioritising God also means seeking Him before major decisions. Do not make important decisions and then ask God to bless whatever you have already decided. Bring the matter before Him first. Pray about the relationship before becoming deeply emotionally involved.

Pray about the business before committing significant resources. Pray before relocating. Pray before accepting major responsibilities. Pray before entering partnerships. Ask for wisdom. Examine Scripture. Consider the facts. Seek godly counsel where necessary. Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Beloved, do not only seek God when you need direction; seek Him because you love Him. This is the deeper level. A child who only approaches his father when he wants money has not fully understood the beauty of relationship. God wants you to enjoy His presence.

Psalm 16:11 says, “In thy presence is fulness of joy.” There is a peace that comes from knowing you are walking closely with God. There is confidence that comes from knowing your conscience is clear before Him. There is strength that comes from regular prayer.

There is wisdom that grows through Scripture. There is stability that comes when your identity is rooted in Christ rather than people’s approval. People will change. Circumstances will change. Money can come and go. Jobs can change. Relationships can change. Popularity can disappear. Health can change. Opportunities can change. But when your foundation is in Christ, you have nothing to fear about tomorrow.

Refuse to build your spiritual life entirely around your pastor either. Honour genuine spiritual leadership, receive biblical teaching, and appreciate those God uses to strengthen you, but your pastor cannot have a relationship with God on your behalf.

Your pastor can pray for you, but you must also pray. Your pastor can teach Scripture, but you must also study. Your pastor can counsel you, but you must learn to seek God’s wisdom. Your pastor can encourage you, but your faith must ultimately rest in Christ.

There will be moments when your pastor is unavailable. There will be midnight battles when nobody answers your call. There will be decisions requiring personal spiritual maturity. You must know how to call upon God yourself. You must know Scripture yourself. You must learn to discern between biblical truth and error yourself.

Beloved, your prayer life should become more than warfare. Prayer is not only shouting against enemies. Prayer is fellowship with God. Prayer is worship. Prayer is thanksgiving. Prayer is confession. Prayer is surrender. Prayer is intercession. Prayer is bringing your burdens before your Father.

Prayer is asking for wisdom. Prayer is aligning your desires with God’s will. If every prayer you pray is only about enemies, attacks, battles, money, marriage, breakthrough, and material needs, your prayer life needs to grow deeper. When was the last time you spent time simply thanking God?

When was the last time you said, “Lord, search me”? When was the last time you asked God to reveal your own wrong motives? When was the last time you prayed for somebody who could do nothing for you? When was the last time you worshipped God without attaching a request to your worship? Relationship goes deeper than requests.

Your relationship with God should also affect the way you treat people. 1 John 4:20 warns about claiming to love God while hating your brother. You cannot spend hours praying and then deliberately mistreat everybody around you. You cannot claim spiritual maturity while refusing to apologize.

You cannot speak in tongues and use the same tongue to destroy people through gossip and slander. You cannot claim to love God while deliberately cheating people in business. You cannot worship on Sunday and become dishonest on Monday.

The closer you walk with Christ, the more His character should become visible in your life. Galatians 5:22–23 describes the fruit of the Spirit as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Spiritual maturity is not measured only by how loudly you pray; it is also seen in the kind of person you are becoming.

Beloved, prioritize God in your decisions. Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Many people pray only after their decisions have brought problems to their life.

They choose the relationship first and ask God to approve it later. They enter the business partnership first and pray after problems begin. They spend the money first and ask for wisdom after it is gone. They make the emotional decision first and seek counsel when consequences start showing up.

Develop the habit of acknowledging God before major decisions. Pray. Examine Scripture. Consider the facts. Seek wise counsel where necessary. Do not confuse impulse with divine direction. Prioritizing God means you genuinely care about what is right, not merely about getting God to approve what you have already decided.

Beloved, your relationship with God must become more valuable than the approval of people. Galatians 1:10 asks, “For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” There will be times when obeying God will make some people unhappy with you.

There will be relationships where establishing healthy boundaries causes misunderstanding. There will be decisions people criticize you because they do not understand your convictions. People can become idols when their approval becomes more important than obedience to God.

Prioritizing your relationship with God does not mean abandoning work, family, business, education, or other legitimate responsibilities. In fact, a healthy relationship with God should make you more responsible. Colossians 3:23 says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

If you are close to God, you should become more trustworthy, not less. You should become more diligent, not lazy. You should become more honest, not manipulative. You should become more compassionate, not harsh. You should become more responsible with money, not careless. You should become more faithful to commitments, not use prayer as an excuse for neglecting responsibilities. God is interested in how you live your entire life.

Another way to know your priorities is to examine what dominates your thoughts. When you wake up, what is usually the first thing on your mind? Money? Fear? A relationship? Social media? Problems? Another person’s opinion?

Philippians 4:8 teaches believers to deliberately direct their minds toward things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. Your relationship with God involves your mind as well as your mouth. Learn to meditate on Scripture.

Carry a verse through the day. Turn anxious thoughts into prayers. When temptation comes, answer it with truth. When fear comes, remind yourself of God’s character.

Beloved, prioritize God before you become desperate. Do not wait until the doctor gives bad news before developing a prayer life. Do not wait until your marriage is collapsing before asking God for wisdom. Do not wait until financial disaster comes before learning biblical stewardship.

Do not wait until temptation has become addiction before taking your spiritual boundaries seriously. Do not wait until you are spiritually empty before realizing you have neglected your soul. Prevention is often better than recovery. Maintain your relationship with God when things are peaceful.

Never become so comfortable that you stop seeking Him. Never become so busy that prayer becomes inconvenient. Never become so successful that dependence upon God feels unnecessary. Never become so knowledgeable that Scripture can no longer correct you.

Never become so spiritually experienced that you think you cannot fall. First Corinthians 10:12 warns, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” Remain humble. Remain watchful. Remain dependent upon grace.

Beloved, your relationship with God is more valuable than any temporary achievement. What shall it profit you if you gain money but lose your integrity? What shall it profit you if everybody knows your name but heaven knows that your heart has become cold?

What shall it profit you if your ministry grows while your personal devotion dies? What shall it profit you if your business succeeds but greed takes over your heart?

What shall it profit you if you receive the marriage you prayed for but gradually abandon the God you prayed to? What shall it profit you if you achieve your goals but become spiritually empty?

Beloved, your relationship with God must become your greatest investment. People invest in education because they understand its value. They invest in businesses because they expect growth. They spend money maintaining their homes, cars, appearance, and physical bodies.

But what are you investing in your spiritual life? How much attention are you giving to your soul? Jesus asked in Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” You can become successful publicly and bankrupt spiritually.

Beloved, there will always be something demanding your attention. If you do not intentionally prioritize God, everything else will gradually take His place. This is why you must continually rearrange your life around what matters eternally.

Sometimes you need to say no to unnecessary activities. Sometimes you need to reduce your time online. Sometimes you need to wake earlier. Sometimes you need to stop staying awake unnecessarily late so you can have strength for prayer in the morning.

Sometimes you need to create a Bible-reading plan. Sometimes you need to return to regular fellowship. Sometimes you need to remove something that repeatedly leads you into temptation. Sometimes you need to seek accountability.

Beloved,  If your Bible has remained closed, open it again. If your heart has become cold, ask God to revive you. If sin has created distance, repent sincerely. If busyness has become your excuse, rearrange your priorities. If success or envy has distracted you, humble yourself and remember where God brought you from.

If disappointment has pushed you away, bring your pain back to Him instead of running farther away. If a relationship continually pulls you away from God, establish necessary boundaries. If your phone consumes the time you once gave to prayer, discipline yourself.

Seek God when you have money and when you do not. Seek Him when the door opens and when it remains closed. Seek Him when your prayers are answered and when you are still waiting. Seek Him when people celebrate you and when they misunderstand you.

Seek Him in your youth and seek Him as you grow older. Seek Him when life is peaceful and seek Him when everything feels uncertain. Seek Him not only because you need His hand, but because you desire His heart.

At the end of everything, the greatest thing you possess will not be your money, house, title, position, certificates, business, ministry platform, social-media followers, or human connections. Your greatest treasure is knowing Jesus Christ and belonging to Him.

Jesus said in John 15:5, “Without me ye can do nothing.” A branch does not struggle to manufacture fruit independently; it bears fruit because it remains connected to the vine. Your responsibility is to abide. Stay connected. Stay prayerful. Stay in the Word. Stay obedient. Stay humble. Stay teachable. Stay close to Jesus.

When your relationship with God is healthy, it begins to influence every other area of your life. God’s word will shape how you treat people. His wisdom influences your decisions. His correction helps you recognise wrongdoings.

His presence strengthens you when people disappoint you. His promises give you hope when circumstances become uncertain

At the end of your life, the greatest achievement will not merely be how much money you accumulated, how many people knew your name, how many properties you owned, how successful your career became, or how impressive your accomplishments appeared. The question of eternal significance is whether you knew Christ and faithfully walked with Him.

Prophetic Declaration

I declare over your life today: your relationship with God shall not grow cold. Every distraction, compromise, wrong association, spiritual laziness, and unhealthy pursuit trying to take the place of God in your heart shall lose its influence over you, in the name of Jesus.

May the Lord restore your hunger for prayer, His Word, holiness, worship, and obedience. You shall not become so busy, successful, comfortable, or blessed that you forget the One who brought you this far. Your spiritual fire shall be rekindled, your heart shall remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and your love for Christ shall grow deeper.

May your private walk with God become stronger than your public appearance before people. Every relationship, habit, activity, or influence continually drawing you away from God shall lose its hold over your heart. From today, you shall seek God first, walk closely with Him, and remain faithful in every season. Nothing shall take God’s rightful place in your heart, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Personal Challenge

Today, examine your relationship with God sincerely. Ask yourself: Has God truly remained first in my life, or have other things gradually taken His place? Look at your prayer life, Bible study, worship, obedience, relationships, daily routine, and the way you use your time. Identify anything that has been receiving more attention than your spiritual growth.

Set aside a specific period today to be alone with God without unnecessary distractions. Put your phone away, open your Bible, pray sincerely, worship Him, and allow His Word to speak to your heart. Ask God to search you, correct you, renew you, and draw you closer to Him.

Also identify one habit that is weakening your relationship with God and begin dealing with it today. It may be excessive social media, spiritual laziness, procrastination, a sinful habit, an unhealthy relationship, unforgiveness, or constant busyness. Replace that distraction with something that strengthens your spiritual life.

Your personal challenge today is simple: give God your attention before giving the world all your energy. Do not merely say that God is your priority, let your choices, time, obedience, and daily lifestyle prove it.

Evangelism Challenge

Today, reach out to someone who has become spiritually discouraged, distant from God, or overwhelmed by the pressures of life. Remind the person that nothing in this world can replace a genuine relationship with God. Share Matthew 6:33 and encourage them to seek God first through prayer, His Word, repentance, and obedience. If possible, pray with the person and invite them to begin rebuilding their relationship with God today. Your assignment is not merely to tell someone about God, but to encourage one soul to come closer to Him.

Wisdom for Today

Never become so busy pursuing the blessings of God that you neglect your relationship with the God who gives the blessings. Whatever takes God’s rightful place in your heart has become too important. Put God first, protect your prayer life, stay rooted in His Word, obey His instructions, and never allow success, relationships, money, ministry, or responsibilities to make you spiritually distant from Him. When your relationship with God remains your priority, every other area of your life can be approached with greater wisdom and the right perspective.
