What Laws Are You Breaking? – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: November 4, 2026

Beloved, one of the greatest discoveries you can make in life is to understand that this world is governed by laws, principles and divine order.

Life does not operate by wishes, emotions or prayers alone. There are principles God has established, and whether you understand them or not, they continue to operate.

For example, the law of gravity does not respect your title, position, anointing or spiritual maturity. If you climb a tall building and deliberately jump down, gravity will not suspend itself because you are a Christian.

You cannot violate a natural law and expect prayer to cancel its consequences. The universe operates according to laws established by God. Whether you are a Christian or an unbeliever, whether you are rich or poor, educated or uneducated, certain natural principles will continue to operate.

The law of gravity does not ask whether you are a pastor before it operates. The law of sowing and reaping does not ask whether you attend church before it produces results.

This is why you must stop thinking that everything you are going through is necessarily caused by an enemy. Sometimes, the problem is not who is fighting you but what you are doing wrongly.

Sometimes, the greatest obstacle to your progress is not a witchcraft attack but a principle you have repeatedly refused to obey.

In the same way, there are spiritual, moral, relational and practical laws that govern different areas of our lives. There are laws that govern marriage, friendship, business, finances, leadership, health, success and spiritual growth.

Every principle you obey carries a benefit, and every principle you violate can carry a consequence.

God does not need to come down from heaven to punish every person who breaks a principle. Sometimes, the consequence is already built into the principle itself.

When you sow laziness, you may reap poverty. When you sow dishonesty, you may lose people’s trust. When you refuse correction, you may repeat the same mistakes. When you neglect your health, your body may suffer the consequences.

The Bible says in Proverbs 22:29 that a man who is diligent in his business will stand before kings. This means that diligence creates opportunities. You cannot consistently embrace laziness and expect to enjoy the rewards of diligence.

Let me give you an example. A man may be praying earnestly for God to bless his business, but he opens his shop late, treats customers rudely, sells inferior products, refuses to keep proper financial records and spends his business capital carelessly.

When his business begins to struggle, he concludes that someone has attacked his source of income. But the question is, what if the problem is not an attack but the principles of business he has neglected?

Beloved, sometimes what you call a spiritual attack may actually be the consequence of a principle you have neglected. However, we must also understand that not every hardship is caused by personal disobedience.

Job suffered despite his righteousness, and Jesus taught that the man born blind was not necessarily suffering because of anyone’s sin (John 9:1–3).

Another person may be praying for God to give him good friends, yet he is unfriendly, arrogant, selfish and unwilling to help others.

He complains that nobody remembers him, nobody visits him and nobody cares about him. But Proverbs 18:24 teaches that a person who desires friendship must also demonstrate friendliness.

You cannot expect people to give you what you consistently refuse to give them. Before blaming the devil for everything happening in your life, examine your decisions, habits, relationships and actions.

If you want friends, are you friendly? If you want people to respect you, do you respect others? If you want a peaceful marriage, are you practising patience, forgiveness and effective communication?

If you desire financial stability, are you managing your resources wisely? If you want spiritual growth, are you spending time studying God’s Word and praying?

You cannot continually break the principles that govern an area of life and expect to enjoy their benefits.

Some people pray for financial breakthrough but refuse to work diligently or manage money wisely. Some pray for marriage restoration but will not apologise, communicate properly or change their destructive behaviour. Others pray for favour but treat people with pride, disrespect and arrogance.

Prayer is powerful, but prayer is not an excuse for irresponsibility. Faith does not cancel the need for obedience, wisdom, discipline and action.

However, not every difficulty means you have broken a law. Sometimes righteous people suffer, faithful people experience delays, and obedient believers face trials.

There are people who have lost valuable relationships because they cannot control their anger. Some have lost opportunities because they cannot keep their promises.

Others have lost people’s confidence because they reveal confidential information. Some have damaged their reputations because they refuse to accept correction.

Instead of learning from these experiences, they keep searching for someone to blame.

Beloved, you cannot continue doing the same wrong things and expect different results.

However, we must be careful not to assume that everyone who is suffering has broken a principle. The Bible tells us about Job, a righteous man who experienced severe trials.

Jesus also explained in John 9 that the blindness of a certain man was not simply the result of personal or parental sin. Some challenges arise from circumstances beyond our control, injustice, illness, persecution or the trials of life.

Now hear this from the Word of God. Romans 4:15 says, β€œfor where no law is, there is no transgression.” A place where there is no law, there is no sin.

That means sin is measured by law. Paul said in Romans 7:7, β€œI had not known sin, but by the law.” The law is like a mirror. It shows you where you are standing.

Nevertheless, when something repeatedly goes wrong, it is wise to prayerfully examine whether there are lessons to learn or changes to make.

The Bible says in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Sometimes, what you need is knowledge. Sometimes, what you need is understanding. Sometimes, what you need is the humility to admit that your approach is wrong.

There are people who are asking God for millions, but they cannot account for the thousands already passing through their hands. There are people asking God for bigger responsibilities, but they are careless with the little responsibilities they currently have.

Jesus said in Luke 16:10, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” Faithfulness in little things is preparation for greater responsibilities.

Beloved, God has established principles, but He has also given us the ability to learn, grow, repent and change. His mercy gives us hope when we have made mistakes, and His grace strengthens us to live differently.

Law makes people live morally. Without law, everybody becomes a king in his own eyes.

The Bible describes such a time in Judges 21:25: β€œIn those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” And that was one of the darkest periods in Israel’s history.

1 Timothy 1:8 says, β€œBut we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully.” God’s law is not your enemy. God’s law is your hedge. God’s law is your guide. God’s law is your road map to success.

Many people are breaking the law of success. Many are breaking the law of wealth. Many are breaking the law of joy. Many are breaking the law of restoration. And then they wonder why success, wealth, joy, and restoration are far from them.

When God gives you His promise, He wants you to keep your own part and not break it. Many people hold on to God’s promises, but they forget the conditions attached to them.

Isaiah 1:19 says, β€œIf ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” The promise is β€œeat the good of the land.” The condition is β€œwilling and obedient.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, β€œIf my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The promise is healing. The conditions are humility, prayer, seeking His face, and turning from wicked ways.

Deuteronomy 28:1 says, β€œif thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments… the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.”

The promise is elevation. The condition is diligent obedience. Notice that little word β€œif.” Many people want the β€œthen” without the β€œif.”

They want the blessing without the obedience. But God does not break His Word. If the promise is not manifesting, check whether you have kept the condition.

Every place of blessing has a template, a pattern, a law that sustains the blessing there. When people break that template, the blessing stops flowing.

Israel was winning battles. Jericho fell flat. But one man, Achan, broke the template. He took the accursed thing and hid it in his tent. And Israel was defeated at Ai, a small city they should have conquered easily (Joshua 7). One man broke the law, and the whole camp suffered.

Jonah was running from God’s instruction. He entered a ship going to Tarshish. Jonah 1:4 says, β€œBut the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.”

The sailors were innocent, but they suffered because of the man who broke the law. When Jonah was thrown out, verse 15 says, β€œthe sea ceased from her raging.”

Beloved, some families are not prospering because somebody is breaking the template. Some churches are not moving because somebody is breaking the template.

Some businesses are collapsing because somebody is breaking the template. You cannot prosper in a place where people are breaking the law that sustains blessing there.

And if you are the Jonah in your family, your company, or your church, you must repent, so that the storm will cease for everybody.

There is a law that says anything that goes up must surely come down. There is nothing you can do to stop it. Throw a stone into the air, and no matter how high it goes, it will come back down. That is the law of gravity.

There is a spiritual law of gravity too. Whatever you sow will come back to you. Galatians 6:7 says, β€œBe not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Whatever goes up from you will come down upon you.

Pride goes up, but it must come down. Obadiah 1:4 says, β€œThough thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.”

Haman went up so high in pride that he built a gallows fifty cubits high for Mordecai. But that same gallows came down on his own neck (Esther 7:10).

Nebuchadnezzar went up in pride and said in Daniel 4:30, β€œIs not this great Babylon, that I have built… by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” And while the word was still in his mouth, he came down, and he ate grass like an ox for seven years.

Wickedness goes up, but it must come down. Psalm 7:16 says, β€œHis mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.”

But thank God, good things also follow this law. Prayers go up, and answers come down. Cornelius was told in Acts 10:4, β€œThy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.”

His prayers went up, and salvation came down upon his whole house. Whatever you send up will come down. Send up righteousness, prayer, kindness, and obedience, and you will see blessings come down.

What are those things God asked you to do, but you are breaking the law? Maybe God told you not to commit adultery, but you did. Maybe God told you to flee fornication, but you are still sleeping with that person.

1 Corinthians 6:18 says, β€œFlee fornication.” God did not say, β€œmanage it” or β€œreduce it.” He said flee. Maybe God told you not to compromise, but you did.

You compromised at work to keep your job. You compromised in your relationship to keep the person. You compromised in your faith to be accepted by your friends.

Daniel 1:8 says, β€œBut Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.” Daniel refused to compromise, and God gave him favour and ten times more wisdom than all the wise men of Babylon (Daniel 1:20).

Maybe God told you not to violate people’s rules, but you disobeyed.

Romans 13:1-2 says, β€œLet every soul be subject unto the higher powers… Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”

Titus 3:1 says, β€œPut them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work.”

When you break the rules of your organisation, your school, your church, or your country without a godly reason, you are not just breaking man’s rule; you are resisting God’s ordinance.

Maybe God told you to leave that place, but you stayed. Maybe He told you to stay, but you left. Maybe He told you to give, but you held back. Maybe He told you to forgive, but you refused.

Maybe He told you to go and apologise, but your pride would not let you. Every instruction you disobey is a law you are breaking, and every broken law has a reward.

Some people treat the Bible like an ordinary book. They read it like a newspaper. They argue with it like a debate. But the Bible is not an ordinary book. The Bible is governed by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16 says, β€œAll scripture is given by inspiration of God.” 2 Peter 1:21 says, β€œFor the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

Jesus said in John 6:63, β€œthe words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

So when you read the Bible, you are not just reading letters on paper. You are coming in contact with the Spirit of God. Reading it means you believe in the Spirit of God. And believing the Spirit means you will obey what He says.

The Holy Spirit who wrote the Bible is the same Holy Spirit who will help you keep it. Ezekiel 36:27 says, β€œAnd I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”

You cannot keep God’s laws by your own strength. But when you yield to the Holy Spirit, He causes you to walk in them.

Now hear this. Not every law is from God. There are satanic laws. There are evil decrees, evil rules, and evil covenants that the enemy has placed over families, communities, and individuals.

Psalm 94:20 asks, β€œShall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?” There are thrones of iniquity that make mischief into law. Isaiah 10:1 says, β€œWoe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees.”

God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. Some people think they are old laws for old people.

But Jesus said in Matthew 5:17, β€œThink not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” Jesus did not cancel these laws; He took them deeper.

These are evil laws framed by thrones of iniquity. And do you know that many people are yet to break these laws? They have accepted them. They say, β€œIt is our family pattern.” No! It is a satanic law, and it must be broken!

Gideon broke a satanic law. His father’s house had an altar of Baal, and God told him in Judges 6:25, β€œthrow down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it.” Gideon broke that law, and he became the deliverer of Israel.

Daniel broke a satanic law. A decree was signed that nobody should pray to any god except the king. Daniel broke it and prayed with his windows open. God shut the mouths of the lions.

The three Hebrew boys broke a satanic law. The king said, β€œBow to the golden image.” They refused, and the fourth Man appeared in the fire.

The apostles broke an unjust law. They were commanded not to preach in the name of Jesus, and they answered in Acts 5:29, β€œWe ought to obey God rather than men.”

Isaiah 28:18 is your portion: β€œAnd your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand.”

Beloved, keep God’s laws and break the devil’s laws. Obey the law of the Spirit of life and break the law of sin and death.

Some people are fighting witches and wizards over their health, but they are breaking the law of their health. You know that whenever you are sick, you should take care of yourself, but you refuse.

You know you should rest, but you work day and night without sleep. You know you should eat well, but you eat anyhow and anytime.

You know you should go to the hospital, but you say, β€œI am covered by the Blood,” and the sickness keeps growing. You know your blood pressure is high, but you refuse to control it, and you refuse to take your medication

Faith and wisdom are not enemies. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, β€œWhat? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… therefore glorify God in your body.” You cannot abuse the temple and expect it to stand.

3 John 2 says, β€œBeloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” God wants you healthy.

Even in the Bible, God’s people took care of their health. When Hezekiah was sick unto death and God healed him, Isaiah still said in Isaiah 38:21, β€œLet them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.” God healed, and they also applied a remedy.

Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:23, β€œUse a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.” He did not say, β€œJust bind the stomach spirit.” He gave practical counsel.

When Elijah was exhausted and depressed under the juniper tree, God did not first give him a sermon. 1 Kings 19:5-6 says an angel touched him and said, β€œArise and eat,” and he ate, drank, and lay down to sleep again. Rest and food were part of God’s solution.

Even Jesus told His disciples in Mark 6:31, β€œCome ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.”

And when the devil told Jesus to throw Himself down from the temple because God would protect Him, Jesus replied in Matthew 4:7, β€œThou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” Refusing to take care of yourself and then expecting God to cover your carelessness is tempting God.

There is a law that says if your parents gave birth to you, they must take care of you. And if you have given birth to children, you must take care of them.

2 Corinthians 12:14 says, β€œfor the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.” 1 Timothy 5:8 is very strong: β€œBut if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

Some parents are breaking this law. They give birth and abandon their children. They spend their money on pleasure, women, alcohol, and friends, while their children have no school fees and no food. They are worse than unbelievers, says the Bible.

Proverbs 22:6 says, β€œTrain up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Ephesians 6:4 says, β€œAnd, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

Proverbs 13:22 says, β€œA good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children.” Parents must provide, protect, train, and pray for their children. When you break this law, the reward will show in the lives of your children and even come back to you in your old age.

And children, the law also works the other way. Exodus 20:12 says, β€œHonour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land.”

When your parents are old, you must care for them. 1 Timothy 5:4 says children should β€œlearn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.”

Beloved, the Spirit of God is speaking to someone right now. You know the law you have been breaking. You know the instruction you have been ignoring. Today, come back and correct it.

Galatians 3:13 says, β€œChrist hath redeemed us from the curse of the law.” The Blood of Jesus can wash away every broken law and its reward. But you must repent and return.

Are you breaking that law by refusing correction? Every time somebody tries to tell you something, you have an answer ready. Your parents cannot talk to you. Your pastor cannot talk to you. Your spouse cannot talk to you.

Beloved, β€œHe that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul” (Proverbs 15:32). King Uzziah was a great king until the priests corrected him, and instead of listening, he became angry.

Leprosy broke out on his forehead right there in the temple (2 Chronicles 26:19). Pride does not only push people away; it pushes God away. β€œGod resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” (James 4:6).

So ask yourself honestly: which of these laws am I breaking? Don’t rush past it. Sit with the question. Because once you find the broken law and fix it, many things you have been praying about will begin to change on their own.

So what should you do?

First, be honest with yourself. Take a quiet moment and ask, β€œLord, where am I breaking Your principles?” Psalm 139:23 to 24 is a good prayer for that moment: β€œSearch me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Second, repent and make practical changes. Repentance is not only tears; it is a change of direction. If you have been lazy, start working. If you have been careless with money, start planning. If you have been holding a grudge, release it. If you have been dishonouring someone, go and make it right.

Third, lean on the Holy Spirit. You cannot keep God’s principles by your own strength. Ezekiel 36:27 says, β€œAnd I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” The same God who gave the laws will give you the grace to keep them.

And finally, if you have examined yourself and you know you are walking in obedience, yet the storm is still raging, do not lose heart. Not every storm is a punishment.

Some storms come in a process. Joseph was not in prison because he broke a law; he was there because he kept one. He refused to sleep with Potiphar’s wife, and it cost him his freedom for a season.

But that same prison became the road to the palace. Beloved, God’s principles are not there to punish you. They are there to protect you, guide you and lift you. When you keep the principle, the principle will keep you.

Pray this with me:

β€œFather, I acknowledge that I have been breaking Your laws. I have broken the law of success, the law of wealth, the law of joy, and the law of restoration. I have disobeyed Your instructions. I have compromised. I have done what You told me not to do. Forgive me, Lord. Wash me with the Blood of Jesus. Holy Spirit, write Your laws upon my heart and cause me to walk in them. Every satanic law over my life, I break it today in the name of Jesus. From today, I will keep Your laws and break the devil’s laws. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

🔥 PROPHETIC DECLARATION

In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I declare that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death! Every hedge I have broken through ignorance or disobedience is repaired by the Blood of Jesus!

Every serpent that bit me through a broken law, loose your venom and be cast out! Every curse that came upon me through a cause is broken, for Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law!

I receive the knowledge of God’s laws, and I shall not be destroyed for lack of knowledge! From today, I walk in the due order of God. I honour, I forgive, I give, I obey, and I walk in purity and humility. I am a doer of the Word, and I shall be blessed in my deed, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

WISDOM FOR TODAY

Before you rebuke the serpent, check the hedge. Some battles end with fire prayers, but some end only when you go back and do what God said.

PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Beloved, take some quiet time today and ask the Holy Spirit to show you any law you have been breaking. Go through the ones we talked about: priority, giving, due order, forgiveness, honour, rest, diligence, words and the laws of the land. Write down any area where He touches your heart.

Then pick one and fix it this week. If it is forgiveness, release that person by name. If it is priority, give God the first part of your day, your income or your time. If it is honour, call your parents or apologise to your spouse. If it is rest, schedule it. If it is the law of the land, settle what you owe. Repair one hedge at a time, and watch what changes.

EVANGELISM CHALLENGE

Many people are suffering the results of broken laws and don’t know there is a way out. Reach out to one person today and tell them that no matter how many hedges they have broken, Jesus came to forgive, restore and give a new start. Tell them that by His grace and His Spirit, they can begin to walk in God’s ways. Invite them to receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
