Powerful Prayers To End The Month Well – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: October 31, 2026

Beloved, today is the last day of October. In a few hours, this month will close its doors forever, and a new month will begin.

Whatever happened in the month of October, the victories and the struggles, the joys and the tears, the answered prayers and the waiting, it is about to become history.

How you end a season matters a lot. The Bible says, “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof” (Ecclesiastes 7:8). Many people start well but end badly.

Some start the month badly but, by the mercy of God, you shall end well. God’s desire is that you finish strong, and that you close this month with thanksgiving, with a clean heart, with lessons learned and with faith for what is coming.

Many began October with great expectations, and some of those expectations were met. Others are still waiting for the arrival of those expectations. Some are still faced with battles they did not expect. Some have lost their loved ones.

Some have received good news, and some have received difficult reports. But you are alive to see the last day of the month, and that alone is a reason to give thanks.

Today is a day to look back with gratitude, look within with honesty, and look forward with faith. It is a day to appreciate the name of the Lord for the journey so far

And it is a day to pray powerfully so that you close this month well and step into the new month under the covering, favour and power of God, in the mighty name of Jesus.

After the Lord gave Israel victory over the Philistines at Mizpeh, Samuel took a stone and set it up as a memorial. He named it Ebenezer, which means “stone of help,” saying, “Hitherto hath the LORD helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12).

That stone was a declaration that everything they had survived and achieved up to that point was because of the help of God. It was also a reminder for the future: the God who helped them hitherto would continue to help them.

Beloved, as you end this month, raise your own Ebenezer. Look back over the past thirty one days and count the ways God has helped you. He woke you up every morning. He provided food on your table.

He protected you on the roads. He kept you through sicknesses and dangers you did not even know about. He answered prayers. He gave you strength when you were weak. Even in the hard moments, He was with you.

David said, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:2). It is easy to remember what went wrong and forget what went right. But a grateful heart remembers the goodness of God.

When Jesus healed ten lepers, only one returned to give thanks, and Jesus asked, “Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?” (Luke 17:17). Do not be among the nine. End this month as the only one who returns with thanksgiving and appreciation.

Moses prayed, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). The end of a month is a good time to number your days, to pause and reflect on how you have used the time God gave you.

Ask yourself honestly: How did I spend this month? Did I grow closer to God, or did I drift? Did I use my time wisely, or did I waste it? Did I treat people well? Did I keep my promises? What did I learn? What do I need to change?

Reflection is not meant to bring condemnation; it is meant to bring wisdom. God told Israel, “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart” (Deuteronomy 8:2).

Looking back helps us see what God has been teaching us and what is truly in our hearts. After reflecting, you must also learn to let go. Paul said, “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark” (Philippians 3:13–14).

God said through Isaiah, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing” (Isaiah 43:18–19).

There are things from this month you must not carry into the next. Do not carry the disappointment. Do not carry the bitterness. Do not carry the shame of your mistakes once you have repented.

Do not carry the fear of what went wrong this month will repeat itself next month. Learn the lesson, but leave the pain behind.

Some people enter every new month dragging the chains of the previous one. They are still crying over what happened weeks ago. Beloved, God is about to do a new thing. “Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”

You cannot receive the new thing with your hands full of old things. Release them to God today.

Maybe October was not easy for you. Maybe you lost money, opportunities, peace, or health. Maybe you prayed and it looked like nothing happened in your life. Hear the Word of the Lord: it is not over until God says it is over.

Joel 2:25 says, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” If God can restore years, He can restore a month!

David at Ziklag lost everything, but he “encouraged himself in the LORD his God” (1 Samuel 30:6), pursued, and “recovered all” (1 Samuel 30:19). Before this month closes, rise up in prayer and recover everything the enemy stole from you in October.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). God asks through Isaiah, “Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD” (Isaiah 66:9).

If God has started something in your life, He will bring it to completion.

When Naomi told Ruth to wait for Boaz to act, she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day” (Ruth 3:18).

Your Redeemer is not resting on your matter. He is working, even when you cannot see it.

Job’s friend Bildad said, “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase” (Job 8:7). Whatever October looked like for you, your latter end shall be greater.

“The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18).

Paul declared in Philippians 3:13-14, “forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

You must close October properly so you can open November powerfully. Leave behind the shame, the failures, the pain, and the disappointments. Do not carry yesterday’s burden into tomorrow’s blessing.

Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

Psalm 65:11 says God crowns the year with His goodness. We are entering the last two months of 2026. This is crowning season. The Lord who crowns the year will crown November and December with goodness for you.

The end of one season and the beginning of another is a gateway. Just as you lock your doors at night, you must spiritually close the door of this month and refuse to allow any evil from it to cross into the next.

When Israel was about to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land, the officers told the people to follow the ark of the covenant, “for ye have not passed this way heretofore” (Joshua 3:4).

They were entering territory they had never walked before, and they needed God’s presence to lead them.

Beloved, you have never lived November 2026 before. You do not know what it holds, but God does. Do not enter it alone. Let His presence go before you.

Commit the new month into His hands before it begins. Pray over your days, your work, your family, your health, your finances and your destiny.

“Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness” (Psalm 65:11). As the year draws closer to its end, God is preparing to crown it with His goodness. Let the remaining months of 2026 be the best months of the year for you.

Beloved, today is the last day of October, and how you end matters. Better is the end of a thing than its beginning. Do not let this month close without giving God thanks.

Raise your Ebenezer and declare that hitherto the Lord has helped you. Do not be like the nine lepers who never returned; be the one who comes back with gratitude.

Number your days and reflect honestly on how you spent this month. Repent where you sinned, release every offence, and where possible. If you are still waiting on God, do not lose heart.

What He began, He will complete. He will not bring to the birth and fail to bring forth. Your latter end shall greatly increase. You need to close the door on every evil of October and command it not to follow you into November.

You need to carry forward every blessing, every open door and every favour.  And as you step into the new month you have never walked before, let the presence of God go before you.

Commit the new month of November into His hands, and He will crown your days with His goodness.

I pray that, every sickness, every sorrow, every attack, every failure and every pattern of affliction you experienced this month must be commanded to stay behind.

God has promised, “Affliction shall not rise up the second time” (Nahum 1:9). Whatever the enemy did in October will not repeat itself in November.

At the same time, every good thing God started this month must be carried forward. Every open door must remain open. Every favour must continue. Every answered prayer must bear more fruit.

“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (Psalm 121:8). “Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out” (Deuteronomy 28:6).

As you go out of October and come into November, the Lord will preserve you, bless you and go before you.

PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Beloved, before this day ends, set aside quiet time with God. Write down at least ten things God did for you this month, big or small, and thank Him for each one aloud. Then write down anything you need to repent of, anyone you need to forgive and anything you need to put right, and deal with as much as you can today.

Next, write down what you are believing God for in November. Pray over each item, and commit the new month into His hands. If possible, spend the last minutes of tonight in prayer and worship, crossing over into the new month in the presence of God rather than in distraction.

EVANGELISM CHALLENGE

As this month comes to an end, many people around you are reflecting on their lives and wondering about the future. Reach out to one person today, share with them how God has helped you this month, and invite them to begin the new month with Jesus. Tell them that in Christ, old things are passed away and all things become new. A new month can be the beginning of a new life for someone, through you.
