EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: August 4, 2026 – The Battle Belongs to the Lord

Life is full of battles. Some battles are physical, while many battles affecting people today are spiritual. There are battles against health, beloved, these battles that show up as strange, recurring, unexplainable ailments in the body.

There are battles against marriage, these battles try to tear apart what God Himself has joined together, battles that turn love into suspicion and peace into quarrels.

There are battles against finances, battles that show up where a person works and works and works, yet cannot understand why nothing seems to add up in his life. There are battles against career and destiny, battles that stand between a man and the promotion, the contract, the opportunity he has worked so hard to attain.

There are battles against your ministry, battles that rise up specifically to frustrate the call of God upon a person’s life. There are even battles against something as simple, yet as precious, as your peace of mind.

Beloved, not every battle deserves your attention. I say it again, not every battle deserves your energy, your sleep, your tears, or your time. Some battles are simply not necessary for you to fight.

They show up specifically to distract you, to pull you away from your real assignment, to waste the precious hours God has given you, they show up so that you will keep using your time to fight the demon that is not fighting you in the first place.

The enemy is skilled at making you spend your strength fighting a shadow that was never sent to defeat you, but to drain you. However, the Bible reminds us that there are battles that belong to God.

When King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were surrounded by a great multitude, the children of Moab, the children of Ammon, and others, they did not have the strength within themselves to overcome it.

The Bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 20:12, “O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” Instead of relying on human ability, on alliances, on weapons, or on strategy, Jehoshaphat sought the face of the Lord in prayer and fasting.

And God’s answer came, comforting and powerful: “The battle is not yours, but God’s.” Beloved, there are battles that only God can fight and win. You cannot fight God’s battle in your own strength and expect to win.

Many people today use their money, their connections, and their power to try and fight battles that belong squarely in the hands of the Lord. But when God has not authorized you to fight a particular battle, every human effort you exert toward it will prove to be labour in vain.

The truth remains: when the Lord takes over your case, every enemy, no matter how ancient, no matter how powerful, no matter how long they have been on your matter, they shall surely be defeated. One divine encounter can end an affliction that has tormented a life for twenty, thirty, even forty years.

One touch from God can silence a battle that human wisdom could not silence in a decade. The greatest mistake many Christians make is attempting to solve spiritual problems with human strength. Some even try to find solutions to battles that only God is prepared to handle alone.

But hear this, beloved: God never intended His children to carry burdens that He has already promised to bear on their behalf. Psalm 55:22 declares, “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

When you surrender your battle to Him in faith and in obedience, He begins to fight on your behalf in ways that no human being can explain, no scientist can measure, and no enemy can withstand.

Notice what the people of Judah did after they received God’s word of assurance. They did not return home in fear or become careless because God had promised them victory. Instead, they responded with humility, faith, and worship.

2 Chronicles 20:18 says, “And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.” Their first response was not celebration but reverence. They humbled themselves before God, acknowledging that He alone was their Deliverer.

This teaches us that surrender to God is not laziness or passivity. It is an active expression of faith. It is saying, “Lord, I cannot win this battle on my own, but I trust You completely to fight for me.”

The following morning, as the army marched out, Jehoshaphat did something remarkable. According to 2 Chronicles 20:21, after consulting with the people, he appointed singers to go ahead of the army, praising the Lord for the beauty of His holiness and declaring, “Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.” Instead of leading with weapons, they led with worship. Instead of allowing fear to fill the atmosphere, they filled it with praise.

Then came God’s supernatural intervention. 2 Chronicles 20:22 records, “And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” Notice that the Lord acted when they began to sing and praise.

You may ask, “If God has promised to fight my battles, why does He sometimes allow me to face overwhelming challenges?” Why did King Jehoshaphat see a vast army marching against Judah before God declared, “The battle is not yours, but God’s”?

Beloved, one important truth we learn from this passage is that God sometimes permits difficult situations in our lives, its not because to destroy His children, but to draw us into deeper trust and dependence on Him. Trials have a way of exposing where our confidence truly lies. They reveal whether we are still relying on our own strength, our resources, our influence, or on the power of God.

As long as a person believes he can solve every problem by his own ability, he may never fully seek the Lord. But when human wisdom reaches its limit, the heart often becomes more willing to look upward. This is exactly what happened to Jehoshaphat. He openly confessed before God:“For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” 2 Chronicles 20:12 (KJV)

Those words reflect genuine humility and complete dependence on God. “Our eyes are upon Thee” is the posture of faith. It is the attitude of a believer who acknowledges that God’s wisdom is greater than human understanding and that His power is sufficient to deliver us from trouble.

This does not mean that we should neglect wise planning, hard work, or seeking appropriate help. Scripture encourages us to be diligent, wise and take responsible action. However, there are situations where, after we have done all that is right and within our power, only God can take over the battle and give us peace.

In such moments, our confidence must rest in Him rather than in ourselves. If you have prayed, acted wisely, sought godly counsel, and yet nothing seems to have changed, do not lose heart. God is often working in ways you cannot yet see.

Sometimes He allows human efforts to reach their limit so that His power and glory will be unmistakably revealed. When the answer finally comes, no one will be able to say it was merely the result of human wisdom, influence, or strength. They will recognize that the Lord has intervened.

Some people are in trouble today, not because the enemy is too strong, but because they went to war without divine instruction. They heard that someone else’s battle was won through a particular method, and they applied the same method to their own case without first inquiring of the Lord.

But every battle is not fought the same way. Some battles require fasting. Some require praise. Some require simply standing still. Some require a specific prophetic instruction that only comes when you wait on God.

This is why Jehoshaphat, before doing anything else, proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah and sought the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:3-4). He did not rush into strategy. He sought instruction first.

Beloved, before you spend another sleepless night strategizing over your battle, stop and ask the Lord, “What do You want me to do?” Sometimes His answer will surprise you as it surprised Judah, “Ye shall not need to fight in this battle.”

Beloved, whatever battle you are carrying today; whatever has kept you awake, whatever has stolen your peace, whatever has made you feel that you are fighting alone, I encourage you to bring it to the altar today.

Stop wrestling with what was never meant for your hands. God is not asking you to be strong; He is asking you to be still and to trust Him. Exodus 14:14 says it plainly: “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Holding your peace, beloved, is itself an act of warfare. It tells the devil that you have transferred your case to a higher court, and heaven’s court never loses a case.

Beloved, I want you to notice something very important. Before the enemy launches any real attack against a believer, he often uses fear first. Fear is usually the enemy’s opening weapon, not his final one. Fear weakens faith. Fear disturbs the mind.

Fear causes people to make decisions they will regret for years. This is precisely why God’s first word to Jehoshaphat was not a battle strategy, it was, “Be not afraid nor dismayed.” Before God changes your situation, beloved, He often begins by changing your perspective.

He does not rush to remove the enemy from your sight; He first removes the fear from your heart, because a fearful heart cannot receive a mighty deliverance. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Faith sees possibilities where fear sees only defeat. Faith says, “God is able,” while fear says, “It is over.” I charge you today, refuse to let fear grow louder in your heart than the promises of God. The moment fear takes the driver’s seat, wisdom is pushed to the back, and that is when people make the poor decisions that prolong their battles.

Beloved, many of us are carrying battles that God never intended for us to carry. We lose our sleep worrying about matters we cannot change. We wear ourselves out being anxious over people we cannot control – a spouse, a child, a relative, a friend whose choices are entirely their own.

We exhaust our strength trying to force open doors that God, in His wisdom, has not yet opened. Matthew 6:27 asks a piercing question: “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” All that worry, all that striving, all that sleepless anxiety has it added one single cubit to your situation?

Beloved, sometimes the greatest act of faith is not fighting harder. Sometimes the greatest act of faith is surrendering the battle to God and refusing to pick it back up.

Let us look at another man who understood this principle, Moses, standing before the Red Sea with the children of Israel. Behind them, the mighty army of Pharaoh. Before them, a great sea with no bridge, no boat, no visible way of escape.

The people panicked, they cried out against Moses, they said it would have been better to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.

But listen to what Moses said to them, and I want you to write this down, beloved, “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day… The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Beloved, notice the instruction was not “run faster, or go hide yourself” it was not “fight harder,” it was “stand still.” Sometimes, the greatest act of warfare God requires from you is stillness, a positioned faith, a refusal to panic on that problem while He works on your behalf.

And what happened next, beloved? God did not need Israel’s help to part that sea. Moses stretched out His own hand, the waters divided, dry ground appeared where there had been an impassable sea, and by the time Pharaoh’s army followed in pursuit, the same waters that had opened became their grave.

Beloved, that is exactly what happens when you hand a battle over to God completely, the very obstacle standing in your way becomes the very weapon He uses to destroy your pursuer. What looked like your dead end becomes your enemy’s downfall.

And beloved, let me also address something important, how do you actually know whether a particular battle belongs to you to fight practically, or belongs entirely to God? Seek His face in prayer and He will show you.

Sometimes God requires practical wisdom and diligent human effort alongside your faith, Nehemiah, for instance, prayed to God but also set a watch and armed the builders as they rebuilt the wall.

But there are other battles, battles rooted purely in spiritual opposition, in witchcraft, in generational curses, in demonic assignments beyond the reach of human strategy, and for those, no amount of running around, no amount of money, no amount of human connection will ever produce a lasting solution.

Those battles require exactly what Jehoshaphat, Moses, and Hezekiah did, honest surrender and total dependence on God. So beloved, examine the battle you are currently facing. Ask yourself honestly, have I been trying to solve a spiritual matter with a purely physical, human approach?

Have I been running from one place to another, spending resources I do not even have, chasing solutions that have consistently failed to deliver lasting peace? If that describes you, beloved, today is the day to stop running, stop striving, stop exhausting yourself, and instead, like Hezekiah, spread that letter, that report, that diagnosis, that threat, before the Lord, and say, “Father, this one is Yours. I cannot handle this. But I trust that You can, and You will.”

One of the greatest reasons many people lose their battles is simply this, they are fighting the wrong enemy. They pour out all their energy attacking people, when the real battle was never against those people in the first place.

They spend their strength on revenge, plotting how to pay back the one who offended them, instead of pressing into the presence of God for wisdom and direction.

Beloved, Ephesians 6:12 settles this matter once and for all: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

That husband, that wife, that colleague, that neighbour, that in-law you have been fighting, in many cases, they are not your real enemy. They are simply being used as an instrument against you.

Behind many of the conflicts you see with your natural eyes lies a spiritual battle that can only be won through prayer, through fasting, through faith, through righteousness, and through total dependence upon God. You cannot shut down a demon by quarrelling with the person it is using. You silence the demon by praying until heaven answers.

Think about it with me. How much energy have you spent this year attacking a human being, when that human being was never your real problem?

How many sleepless nights have you spent planning what to say back to that person, how to deal with that colleague, how to expose that relative, how to outsmart that neighbour, energy that should have gone into your prayer closet instead?

Beloved, many people are consumed, completely consumed, with revenge, with getting back at somebody, with proving a point, when they should be seeking the wisdom of God concerning that same situation.

And by the time all that energy is spent, the real enemy, the spiritual force behind the whole matter, is still sitting comfortably, untouched, unbothered, watching you exhaust yourself fighting his puppet while he remains hidden.

Now let me balance this teaching with something equally important, beloved, because not every battle you face is the enemy’s assignment against you, some battles are actually allowed by God Himself, for a purpose, to strengthen your faith and to draw you nearer to Him.

Think of Joseph, beloved. That pit his brothers threw him into, that false accusation from Potiphar’s wife, that prison he was forgotten in for years, none of that looked like blessing at the time, it looked like pure disaster.

But every single one of those trials was quietly preparing Joseph for the very throne of leadership he would later occupy in Egypt. Beloved, sometimes your present pit is simply the classroom for your future palace.

So what must you do, beloved, when you discover you are facing a battle that belongs to God? First, like Jehoshaphat, be honest before God about your inability. Do not pretend you have the strength when you do not.

Say it plainly, “Lord, I have no might against this, neither know I what to do, but my eyes are upon You.” That kind of honest surrender is the very posture that positions you to receive God’s intervention.

Second, seek His face earnestly, through prayer, through fasting, through the Word, until you receive His direction, because sometimes, like Jehoshaphat, He will tell you exactly what your role is, even in a battle that is fundamentally His, whether that role is simply to stand still, to worship, or to position yourself and watch.

And notice, beloved, what happened after God spoke through Jahaziel. Jehoshaphat did not go home and fold his arms in idleness. The next morning, he rose early, and he appointed singers unto the Lord, who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and were saying, “Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.”

And beloved, the Bible records something remarkable, when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the enemies, and they were smitten. By the time Judah arrived at the battlefield, they did not need to lift a single sword, all they found were dead bodies. The enemies had destroyed themselves.

Beloved, that is what happens when you surrender a God-sized battle to a God-sized God, He fights in ways your natural mind cannot even trace, cannot even explain, and by the time you arrive at what you thought would be a battlefield, you find only victory waiting for you.

So beloved, I ask you plainly today, what battle have you been fighting in your own strength that was never assigned to you to fight? What situation have you been trying to solve with money, with connections, with human wisdom, when all along, God has been saying, “This one is Mine, give it to Me”?

Today, beloved, lay it down. Surrender it in faith and in obedience. Fix your eyes on Him the way Jehoshaphat fixed his eyes on Him, and watch the Lord begin to fight on your behalf in ways no human being, no expert, no consultant, could ever explain to you.

Beloved, whatever battle you are facing today whether it concerns your health, marriage, children, finances, ministry, career, or future, remember that God has never lost a battle. He is the Mighty Man of War. He is the Alpha and the Omega.

He knows the end from the beginning, and nothing is impossible for Him. Do not allow fear to control you. Stand upon His promises, remain faithful in prayer, obey His voice, and trust His timing.

Beloved, never allow your battle to become bigger than your God. The size of your problem does not determine the size of your victory. The One who is with you is greater than the challenge before you.

David did not defeat Goliath because he was stronger than the giant; he won because the Lord fought with him. The same God who gave David victory is still fighting for His children today.

Therefore, stop speaking defeat over your life. Stop telling everyone how impossible your situation is. Instead, begin to declare God’s promises. Speak words of faith. Thank Him before you see the answer.

Worship Him while you are still waiting. Continue to obey Him even when you do not understand what He is doing. Your confidence should not be in what you can see but in the unchanging character of God. No battle lasts forever.

There is a day appointed by God when every storm will pass, every chain will break, every enemy will be silenced, and every tear will be wiped away. Hold on to your faith. Remain steadfast in prayer. Refuse to give up.

The God who fought for Moses, Joshua, David, Jehoshaphat, Daniel, Esther, and Paul is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He will fight for you, He will defend your cause, and He will give you a testimony that only He can receive the glory for.

Beloved, our God has countless ways of bringing you victory, the ways you could never imagine, could never strategize, could never plan for.

Stop wasting your strength fighting flesh and blood. Stop letting revenge consume the energy that should be fueling your prayer life.

Recognize the battles God is using to prepare you for greater height rather than resenting them, and above all, trust Him when God finally moves on your behalf, the victory will not just be yours, it will bring glory to His name in ways that leave even your enemies with no choice but to acknowledge that the God you serve is alive, is powerful, and merciful. It is well with you, in Jesus name.

Prophetic Declaration

I declare that every battle that has been too strong for you shall become a testimony of God’s power, in the mighty name of Jesus.

The Lord shall arise and fight every battle that is beyond your strength, beyond your wisdom, and beyond your ability, in the name of Jesus.

Every enemy gathered against your destiny shall be scattered by the mighty hand of God, in the name of Jesus.

I decree that every evil conspiracy, secret counsel, and satanic gathering against your life shall end in confusion and defeat, in the name of Jesus.

The God who fought for Jehoshaphat shall fight for you. You shall hold your peace, and the Lord shall give you victory, in the name of Jesus.

Every battle that has stolen your joy, delayed your progress, or weakened your faith shall come to an end today, in the name of Jesus.

I declare that every mountain standing before your breakthrough shall become a plain by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus.

The Lord shall disappoint every expectation of your enemies. Those who rise against you shall fall before the power of God, in the name of Jesus.

Every power contending with your health, your marriage, your children, your finances, your ministry, and your destiny shall be defeated, in the name of Jesus.

I decree that the battle will not consume you. Instead, it shall reveal the greatness, faithfulness, and glory of God in your life, in the name of Jesus.

The Lord shall strengthen your hands, establish your feet, and give you the grace to stand firm until your victory is complete, in the name of Jesus.

I declare that every battle that has lasted for years shall receive divine judgment today. The God of sudden intervention shall arise on your behalf, in the name of Jesus.

Every spirit of fear, discouragement, and hopelessness is broken over your life. You shall walk in boldness, confidence, and unwavering faith, in the name of Jesus.

I decree that before this battle is over, God shall give you a testimony that will cause many to glorify His holy name, in the name of Jesus.

I declare that every battle inherited from your foundation that has resisted human solutions shall bow before the power of the Cross, in the name of Jesus.

Every satanic courtroom where your name is being mentioned for evil shall catch fire, and every evil judgment against your life shall be overturned by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.

The God who made a way through the Red Sea shall make a way for you where there seems to be no way, in the name of Jesus.

I declare that those who gather against you without God’s approval shall be scattered in disgrace, in the name of Jesus.

I decree that every prison door holding your blessings shall open by divine intervention, in the name of Jesus.

Every stubborn problem that has followed you from year to year shall expire by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus.

From this day forward, you shall no longer fight alone. The Lord of Hosts shall go before you, defend you on every side, and grant you complete victory. The battle belongs to the Lord, and your victory is certain, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

10. O Lord, let every Red Sea standing before my breakthrough divide by Your mighty power, in the name of Jesus.

11. Every Goliath challenging my advancement, fall and perish today, in the name of Jesus.

12. Every evil altar speaking against my victory, catch fire now, in the name of Jesus.

13. O Lord, let every battle inherited from my foundation come to a permanent end, in the name of Jesus.

14. Every spirit of defeat and failure, lose your hold over my life, in the name of Jesus.

15. O Lord, expose every hidden enemy and disappoint every secret plan against my destiny, in the name of Jesus.

16. Every prison where my blessings have been kept, break open by fire, in the name of Jesus.

17. Every stubborn mountain before my destiny, be removed by the hand of God, in the name of Jesus.

23. Every battle over my finances and career, come to an end by the power of God, in the name of Jesus.

24. Every evil hand manipulating my destiny from behind the scenes, wither by fire, in the name of Jesus.

25. O Lord, release Your warrior angels to fight on my behalf wherever I cannot reach, in the name of Jesus.

26. Every tongue speaking curses, accusations, and condemnation against me, be silenced forever, in the name of Jesus.

27. Every stubborn problem that has refused to let me go, hear the Word of the Lord: expire today, in the name of Jesus.

28. O Lord, let every battle that has lasted for years end in victory this season, in the name of Jesus.

29. Every satanic embargo placed upon my testimony, be broken by fire, in the name of Jesus.

30. O Lord, make me more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens me, in the mighty name of Jesus.

31. Every stubborn strongman assigned to wage war against my destiny, fall down and die, in the name of Jesus.

32. O Lord, arise and overturn every satanic throne established against my progress, in the name of Jesus.

33. Every battle that entered my life through evil foundations, expire by fire, in the name of Jesus.

34. Every invisible wall standing between me and my divine breakthrough, collapse by fire, in the name of Jesus.

35. O God of vengeance, arise and fight every battle that my prayers cannot explain, in the name of Jesus.

36. Every evil verdict saying I shall remain in bondage, be revoked by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.

37. Every power assigned to exchange my victory for defeat, be consumed by Holy Ghost fire, in the name of Jesus.

38. O Lord, let every enemy pursuing my destiny be overtaken by Your judgment, in the name of Jesus.

39. Every battle raging in my life because of my glory, be terminated today, in the name of Jesus.

40. Every witchcraft network coordinating attacks against my destiny, scatter by fire, in the name of Jesus.

41. Every evil chain binding my hands from receiving God’s blessings, break by fire, in the name of Jesus.

42. Every satanic power saying my prayers shall not be answered, be disgraced today, in the name of Jesus.

43. O Lord, release Your thunder upon every camp of my adversaries, in the name of Jesus.

44. Every evil burden that is not planted by God in my life, be lifted by fire, in the name of Jesus.

45. Every battle that has stolen my peace and joy, release them back to me, in the name of Jesus.

46. Every satanic courtroom where my name is being condemned, catch fire now, in the name of Jesus.

47. Every power frustrating the works of my hands, receive the judgement of God, in the name of Jesus.
