Opening Scriptures (KJV)
Genesis 41:15–16: “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”
Genesis 41:28–30: “This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh. Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt: And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land.”
Matthew 2:13: “And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
Job 33:14–16: “For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction.”
Memory Verse (KJV)
1 Kings 3:5 “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.”
Praise and Worship
Begin today by thanking God for His Word, His wisdom, His guidance, and the gift of discernment. Worship Him because He sees tomorrow more clearly than you see today. Ask the Holy Spirit to deliver you from fear, confusion, superstition, and careless interpretation of dreams. Pray for wisdom to recognize any instruction that agrees with God’s Word, courage to act responsibly upon genuine warnings, and humility never to place dreams above Scripture.
EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: August 21, 2026 – Dreams That Prepare You for Victory
Everything you see in the physical did not just start in the physical. Before a thing happens physically, it will happen first thing the spirit. And one of the ways God allows you to see into that spirit realm is through dreams.
It is the spirit that controls the physical activities. That is why I call the dream a mirror of the spirit. When you look into a mirror, you see what is really there, not what you assume is there.
In the same way, a dream can show you what is truly happening around your life, even when everything looks calm and quiet on the surface.
God can use dreams to reveal His plans, expose hidden dangers, provide instructions and prepare His children for what lies ahead. He uses dreams to prepare us for victory. Prayer without victory may resort to frustration and disappointment.
When you experience a victory dream, it shows that God has answered your prayer. God will not show you victory dreams to limit your victory in the physical. Whenever you see army celebrating after a war battle, it means they are celebrating their victory.
When God show you mercy, celebrate it. When God is fighting your battle in the dream, celebrate it. Any victory dream calls us to appreciate the goodness of God in our life. Throughout the Bible, dreams played important roles in the lives of Joseph, Jacob, Daniel, Solomon and many others.
Some dreams revealed coming blessings, while others warned us of danger and provided us an opportunity to prepare for the battle. There are some dreams that guarantee us victory over the works of darkness.
Dreams are powerful. Through it, you will know if your prayers are working effectively or not. You will know if you are making mistake or not. You will know if the Lord is fighting your battle or already won the battle.
Dream is like a mirror of the spirit. Many times, while everything appears peaceful in the physical realm, God may reveal through a dream what is happening spiritually or what is about to happen. Such a dream is not given to parlayze your faith but to prepare you for prayer, wisdom and victory.
When God reveals a matter, He is giving you an opportunity to respond immediately before the situation develops. The major thing is that, And beloved, this is the serious part: what you do after you receive that dream will determine whether you walk into victory or whether you walk into defeat.
The dream alone does not save you. Your response to the dream is what saves you. Joseph was warned in a dream. The angel told him to rise up quickly, take the young child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, because Herod wanted to search for the child to destroy Him.
Beloved, the danger was real. Herod was not joking. But the warning came before the attack came. God, in His mercy, always speaks before the enemy strikes, if only we will listen. And notice what Joseph did. He did not argue.
He did not say, “Let me sleep small and think about it in the morning.” He did not dismiss the dream as just imagination. He rose up immediately and he obeyed.
Because Joseph obeyed a dream, the life of the Savior of the world was preserved. Beloved, this teaches us something powerful: some dreams are not just pictures, they are divine instructions, sent to move you away from a danger you cannot yet see with your natural eyes.
There are dreams that reveal the strategy of the enemy. There are dreams that reveal what the enemy is trying to do. You may dream of an attack, conspiracy, trap, strange gathering or someone attempting to steal something from you.
Such a dream is calling you to rise in prayer and cancel what the enemy is planning. The purpose of revelation is preparation. When God exposes darkness, He is giving you authority to confront it before it manifests.
There are also dreams that show you overcoming an enemy, escaping from darkness, swimming out of river, defeating the enemy, or experiencing breakthrough. These dreams can be signs of progress and approaching victory.
They may reveal that the power of God is fighting for you and that the battle will not end in your defeat. However, you must continue praying and walking faithfully with God until the victory becomes evident.
A dream that prepares you for victory may also reveal areas of weakness that the enemy could be exploiting in your life. For example, you may see yourself becoming distracted, returning to an old habit, missing an important appointment, losing your shoes, forgetting something valuable or becoming unprepared for an examination.
Such dreams may be warnings about carelessness, spiritual laziness, wrong relationships or lack of preparation. Victory is not achieved through prayer alone when God has also given you an instruction. If the dream reveals a wrong association, separate yourself wisely.
If it warns you about a journey, pray and seek God’s direction before proceeding. If it exposes an ungodly habit, repent and forsake it. If it reveals an opportunity, prepare yourself so that the opportunity does not meet you unprepared.
Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dream concerning seven years of abundance and seven years of famine. The dream did not merely announce a future crisis; it provided an opportunity to prepare for it. Because Pharaoh acted upon the interpretation, Egypt stored food during the years of plenty and survived the famine.
A revelation without the right response may not produce the intended result. Some believers receive important dreams but forget them immediately. Others remember them but refuse to pray.
Some discuss their dreams with everybody, including people who may not have spiritual understanding. Others accept every interpretation they receive without testing it by the Word of God. This can produce fear, confusion and wrong decisions.
A genuine revelation from God will never contradict Scripture or encourage sin. Dreams must remain under the authority of God’s written Word.
Ecclesiastes 5:3 (KJV): “For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV): “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
Whenever you receive a serious dream, write down everything you can remember. Record the people, location, colours, objects, words spoken, actions taken and how you felt.
Pray for understanding before seeking an interpretation. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal whether the dream is a warning, instruction, encouragement or spiritual attack.
Be careful about making major decisions based only on one dream. Seek confirmation through Scripture, prayer, godly counsel and the peace of God.
A true message from God will not pressure you into reckless action. God may warn you through a dream, but He will also provide wisdom concerning the right response.
