Topic: Resist the Fear of Death

Praise and Worship

Begin today by worshipping God as the giver and sustainer of life. Thank Him for preserving you from dangers you saw and dangers you never knew existed. Thank Him for every morning you have awakened, every journey from which you have returned safely, every sickness from which you recovered, and every season through which His grace has carried you.

Worship Jesus because through His death and resurrection He has given believers an eternal hope that reaches beyond the grave. Declare before the Lord: “Father, my life is in Your hands. I reject the bondage of fear. Teach me to live wisely, faithfully, and confidently in Christ. Whether today brings peace or uncertainty, I will trust You, in the name of Jesus.”

EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: August 27, 2026 – Resist The Fear of Death

Beloved, death is a reality of life, but the fear of death must not become the ruler of your life. The fact that every human being will one day complete his or her earthly journey does not mean you should live every day expecting tragedy, sickness, accident, or premature death.

God has not called His children to live under constant fear. Scripture gives us confidence to pray for preservation, health, fruitful years, and long life while trusting the length of our days to God.

Psalm 91:16 says, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation,” while Psalm 118:17 declares, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.”

God did not promise us that death will not happen. He promised us something better. He promised us that we will not die before our time, but we will live long and declare the works of the Lord. Long life is the heritage of the believer.

The Bible says in 3 John 1:2, “I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” When you are in Christ, there is peace. There is joy. There is prosperity. There is long life. There is health.

So if the Bible says with long life He will satisfy us, why should you be walking around afraid of death every single day?

If the Bible says even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, then something is wrong when a child of God is trembling every time death is mentioned.

When you are truly in Christ, no demon can just come near your dwelling to hurt you or afflict you as it likes. There is a divine covering over your life.

Now let me show you something. The fear of death is common among people who do not know their right to live long on earth. That is the root of the fear. When you do not know what belongs to you, the devil will come and throw a challenge at your head. And the moment he sees that you are afraid, that is the moment he begins to attack.

Death cannot defeat a man who is bold and courageous in the Lord. Death cannot paralyze the faith of somebody who truly knows His God. But despite everything God has promised us, many people are still walking around afraid.

They are afraid of anything that can threaten their life or their destiny. They are afraid of death appearing to them in their dream. They are afraid of a sudden flash of death crossing their mind. Some people cannot even stay alone in the dark for too long because fear has gripped them so tight.

Some people are so afraid of death that every small unusual sensation in their body, they will start thinking, “Is the sensation sickness? Does it mean death is approaching?” Every accident they hear about on the news, they begin to wonder, “Will it be my turn one day?” Any sickness they see somebody dying from, fear grips them immediately.

Every prophecy of danger or warning, instead of driving them to prayer, drives them into torment. Beloved, some people are alive physically today, but the fear of death has already stopped them from truly living and enjoying the right God has given them.

They wake up afraid. They lie down afraid. The moment they hear somebody has died, the first thought in their mind is, “Maybe I am next.”

Some cannot travel freely again because their imagination is already showing them accidents, kidnappers, and robbers on the road. Some cannot sleep peacefully at night because they are afraid they may not wake up live.

Some are constantly checking their own body, searching for evidence that something terrible is happening to them. Some have become full prisoners of frightening thoughts, locked up in their own mind.

Beloved, God did not save you to live this kind of life. He did not deliver you with the blood of His Son so that you would spend your days afraid of anything and everybody. Surprisingly, some are even afraid of certain people, thinking that if that person visits them, misfortune will start spreading in their house.

Understand this: one of the strongest weapons the devil uses to cage the mind of people is the weapon of fear. He is very strategic about this weapon.

Once he manages to suggest a scene to your imagination, once he projects a picture of death or disaster into your spirit, your own mind will begin processing it over and over, until that thing starts disturbing you for a very long time, sometimes for years, if you do not deal with it.

That is why some people cannot even attend a funeral again, because they are afraid the spirit of death that visited that family will now come and start searching for them too.

But the Bible says God has not given us the spirit of fear, and by extension, God has not given us the spirit of death to torment us daily. So hear me well, beloved. Every fear of death that you are carrying now, it is not from God. It is from the devil.

Some people are afraid that their spouse may die one day and they are already grieving a person who is still alive and strong. Some are afraid they themselves may not live long, and that fear alone is already shortening their joy. Beloved, do not accept what the enemy is suggesting to you.

Understand this principle very well: anytime you are afraid, it simply means you have already accepted what the enemy suggested to your spirit. That is why the Word tells us to resist. Not to manage it. Not to cope with it. Resist it, in the name of Jesus.

Jesus Christ has already conquered death. He did not struggle with it, He conquered it completely, and everyone who belongs to Him now shares in that same eternal hope. So the believer has no business spending his days enslaved to the fear of death. Beloved, do not sit down and start imagining death in your mind.

Do not rehearse your own funeral in your thoughts. The Bible says God has delivered your soul from death. Fear will steal your peace if you let it be. Fear will steal your joy if you allow it. Fear will destabilize your mental health if you allow it. But as believers, death does not have the authority or the power to separate us from the love of Christ.

Romans 8:38-39 makes it very clear that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. If death cannot separate you from His love, then death has no legal right to torment you with fear.

Now beloved, if you truly want to overcome the fear of death, the first thing you must do is get right with God. This is important. One of the major reasons some people are terrified of death today is because deep down in them, they know they are not prepared to meet Christ.

They know the kind of life they are living is not right. They know the sins they are hiding in secret. They know the compromises they have been making.

They know that they have done evil in the sight of God, and something inside them keeps whispering that a day of reckoning is coming.

Beloved, that kind of fear is a mercy call, not a curse. It is God knocking, telling you to come back before it is too late. Settle your account with Him today, and that particular fear will lose its grip completely.

Understand also that the presence of God does not mean nothing difficult will ever happen to you in this life. It simply means that whatever happens, you will never face it alone, without Him standing there with you.

Beloved, let me show you something practical. You can resist the fear of death by refusing to feed your mind continually with frightening information. Some people consume accident videos every day. They watch death stories every day. They listen to frightening prophecies every day.

They fill their spirit with disaster reports and disturbing content morning and night, and then they wonder why they cannot sleep peacefully.

Beloved, whatever you continually feed your mind with, that thing will influence your thoughts, your dreams, and eventually your faith. Philippians 4:8 tells us plainly, “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Now understand, this does not mean you should ignore genuine dangers or refuse to stay informed about what is happening around you. It simply means you must not make fear your daily diet.

Beloved, be careful of people who constantly use death to manipulate you spiritually. Be careful of any so called prophet who uses death to prophesy over your life just to control you.

Someone will tell you, “I saw death around you, if you do not send this amount of money immediately, something terrible will happen to you.” Another one will say, “There is a coffin following you, you must pay for this spiritual work before Friday or else.”

Beloved, do not allow anybody to merchandise your fear or cage you with it. God does not operate that way. He speaks to warn and to save, never to blackmail. Resist the spirit of death today, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Beloved, be careful what you confess concerning your life. Some people, without even knowing it, have been prophesying death over themselves with their own mouth. “This thing will kill me one day.” “I don’t think I will live long, nobody in my family lives past sixty.” “Maybe this sickness is the one that will finish me.”

Beloved, do you know that your mouth is a covenant instrument? Proverbs 18:21 says death and life are in the power of the tongue. You cannot keep speaking death and expect life to answer you. From today, close that door from speaking the bad thing you imagining.. Whatever you will not accept, stop confessing it,.

Beloved, this is exactly why you must be careful about what you continually think about. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Everything you become in this life flows out of what you have been guarding, or failing to guard, in your heart.

The devil understands this principle better than many Christians do. He knows that once a frightening suggestion enters your mind and you begin to believe it and process it in your mind, you may start losing your peace.

You may start behaving as though something bad has already happened when, in actual fact, nothing has happened yet. You may lose your sleep over a thing that has never occurred. You may start seeing some people as bad people because fear has painted a bad picture in your imagination.

Now let me speak to somebody here about dreams. Some people become deeply frightened because of what they see at night. They dream of coffins. They dream of cemeteries.

They dream of relatives who have already died. They dream of funerals, accidents, hospitals, or somebody announcing that a certain person has died and immediately, before they even pray about it, they conclude that death is already on its way.

Beloved, be careful here. Not every disturbing dream is a literal prophecy of death. Dreams can come from many sources – from your thoughts, from your fears, from your daily experiences, from stress, from your relationship, from whatever has been occupying your mind lately.

Ecclesiastes 5:3 says, “For a dream cometh through the multitude of business.” So beloved, pray concerning every troubling dream, and do not despise it, do not ignore it, take it seriously in prayer.

But do not allow a dream, which may or may not even be from God, to become bigger than the settled Word of God concerning your life.

If a dream troubles you, take it to God in prayer immediately, examine it wisely under the leading of the Holy Spirit, and then continue living your life in faith. Do not start preparing your mind for death simply because you had one frightening dream.

Beloved, some are afraid today, not because of a dream, but because their life may be contagious to bad things. Somebody close to them died suddenly, and since that painful day, they now carry a fear that the same thing may repeat itself in their own life or in the life of somebody else they love.

If their spouse still on their way back home, immediately their mind runs to an accident. If their child travels, they cannot close their eyes to sleep because of the fear of death. If somebody does not pick up the phone quickly, tragedy is already playing in their imagination.

Beloved, despite that your fear may be genuine, but you should not allow it to keep playing in your mind. Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.” Bring that pain to God, beloved.

Resisting the spirit of death does not mean you should become careless about your body and your health. Some people have mistaken faith for carelessness.

That is not biblical wisdom, and it has cost many people their lives unnecessarily. If you have persistent symptoms in your body, seek medical attention; its good pray, yes, but also go for the appropriate medical examination.

If a doctor has properly prescribed medication for you, do not abandon it simply because somebody told you that taking medicine means you have no faith. That is ignorance, not spirituality.

Remember, Luke was called “the beloved physician” in Colossians 4:14, God does not despise medical knowledge; He can heal you supernaturally in one instant, and He can also heal you gradually through the doctors and the medicine He has allowed to exist in this world.

Beloved, prayer is powerful when fear comes knocking. Psalm 34:4 says, “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Notice carefully what David is saying here: He did not only say God had delivered him from his enemies; he specifically said God delivered him from his fears.

Sometimes, beloved, the real battle is not something happening around you. The real battle is the fear happening inside you, and that battle is won on your knees, not by running from one place to another looking for a solution outside of God.

The enemy would be very pleased, if you became so obsessed with when you will die that you completely forgot why God allowed you to live in the first place.

Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Beloved, numbering your days does not mean fearing every single day that comes. It means valuing every day that comes. Because earthly life is temporary, you are to use it wisely not waste it in dread, not waste it hiding from your own calendar.

The fear of death should never be allowed to make you afraid of life itself. Some people refuse to travel because something might go wrong. Some refuse good opportunities because something might go wrong.

Some refuse relationships, refuse to try anything new, refuse to fully enjoy their own families, all because of fear. Beloved, that is not carefulness that is bondage wearing the clothing of caution.

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:34, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.” Live today, fully, faithfully, and fearlessly, in the confidence that the same God who has kept you until this moment is more than able to keep you for every moment still ahead.

Resist the spirit of death, beloved, and choose, every single day, to truly live. Beloved, when you pray for long life, understand that prayer alone is not the whole picture, you must also live in a way that respects the very life or nature God has given you.

Rest appropriately; do not run yourself into the ground and then blame the devil for exhaustion. Take care of your health regularly. Manage your stress responsibly. Seek medical attention when it is necessary, and do not wait until a small matter becomes a crisis.

Avoid destructive habits that quietly work against the very life you are praying to preserve. Follow safety precautions; do not call it faith when it is simply carelessness.

Maintain healthy boundaries with people and situations that drain you. Deal with problems while they are still small, before they grow into emergencies.

Beloved, your body is not your enemy. It is not something to be despised or neglected in the name of spirituality, it is part of the life God has entrusted into your hands, and you are its steward.

Now beloved, let me speak to something very serious. Do not allow family history to become a death sentence pronounced over your life. Perhaps people in your family have died at certain ages. Perhaps there is a history of a particular disease that keeps repeating itself.

Perhaps you lost a parent early, and quietly, without even announcing it to anybody, you have started counting down toward the very same age, waiting for something to happen to you too. Perhaps several relatives have suffered similar tragedies, and you have begun measuring your own years by their story instead of by God’s Word.

Beloved, family history can give you useful information to make wise decisions; that part is true and good. If a condition runs in your family, use that knowledge wisely. Go for the appropriate screening. Improve what is within your power to improve. Pray about it. Take care of yourself accordingly.

But do not turn family history into a prophecy of doom over your own life. Their story does not have to become your story. Your father’s experience does not automatically determine your experience.

Your mother’s experience does not automatically determine your experience. Your sibling’s experience does not automatically determine your experience. Your relative’s experience does not automatically determine your future. Use family history for wisdom, beloved not for fear.

Perhaps you have heard this word over and over again, “Nobody in this family lives beyond this age.” Be careful, beloved, about receiving such a statement as though it carries the authority of God’s own Word.

You may acknowledge a pattern that requires prayer, wisdom, medical attention, or a change in behaviour that is wise. But do not turn that pattern into an idol that now rules over your future.

As a believer, take every one of these concerns to God and answer them with His Word. Psalm 91:16 declares, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Trust God for a fruitful life.

Ask Him to help you fulfil your purpose to the very end. And remember,  the greatest promise of our faith is not merely a certain number of earthly years we spent, but it is eternal life through Jesus Christ, which no family history, no statistic, and no grave can ever touch.

Beloved, you must also resist obsessive checking for signs of death. Some people wake up in the morning and immediately begin examining their body. They check their heartbeat again and again.

They search every small symptom on the internet. They keep asking people around them, “Do I look sick to you? Do I look fine?” They interpret every headache, every tiredness, every strange pain or sensation as evidence that disaster is near.

Beloved, your body deserves responsible attention but fear must never become your doctor. If something genuinely concerns you, go and seek proper medical advice.

But once you have taken that responsible step, resist the temptation to spend every waking hour searching your own body for evidence of disaster.

Understand this: fear will always find something new to examine. Today it is your heartbeat. Tomorrow it is your breathing. Next week it is a headache. After that, it is your kidney.

Then it becomes something frightening you read online at midnight. Beloved, you can spend your entire life searching for the symptoms of death instead of simply thanking God for the life you already have this very moment.

So beloved, whenever the enemy attempts to fill your heart with the fear of premature death, do not argue with him in your own strength, rather answer him with the Word of God, every single time. When fear whispers, “Your days are numbered,” you declare boldly, “My times are in the hand of God.”

When fear says, “Something terrible will happen tonight,” you declare, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep.” When fear says, “You will not live long,” you remind yourself, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

When fear says, “Death is following you,” you remember that Jesus Christ has already conquered death and delivered His people from the bondage of its fear.

Beloved, understand something very important. The devil would love nothing but to make death the central subject of your thoughts, both morning, afternoon, and night. He wants death to be the first thing you think of when you open your eyes, and the last thing you think of before you close them.

But listen to what Jesus said about His own mission in John 10:10: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Do you see the contrast, beloved?

The devil’s agenda is death. Jesus’ agenda is life and not just ordinary life, but abundant life. So the question is, whose agenda are you running with your own mind? Therefore, beloved, make a decision today to focus on the life Christ has given you, not on the death the devil keeps advertising.

May the fear of fear stop today. Resist them now, and they will flee from you forever!

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

Beloved, lift your hands and receive this decree over your life today, in the name of Jesus Christ:

I decree that you are alive today by the mercy of God, and that same mercy shall keep you alive tomorrow, and every day after, until your purpose on this earth is fully accomplished. Every agenda of the devil to make death the center of your thoughts is cancelled now, in the name of Jesus. Your mind is loosed from every tormenting imagination.

Personal Challenge

Today, examine your heart and identify the things that trigger the fear of death in you. Is it a disturbing dream, negative prophecy, sickness, the death of someone close to you, frightening news, accident videos, travelling, staying alone in the dark, or repeated thoughts about something terrible happening? Stop feeding those fears. Bring them before God and deliberately replace those frightening thoughts with the truth of His Word.

Whenever the thought of premature death comes into your mind today, refuse to develop it with your imagination. Declare Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” Also read Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 prayerfully. If there is a genuine health or safety concern, take responsible action rather than allowing fear to control you.

Your personal challenge today is to stop rehearsing death and start appreciating life. Thank God for the life He has given you, spend meaningful time with your loved ones, be happy, and stop entertaining fearful thoughts. Do not allow fear of what might happen tomorrow to steal your greatness.

Live prayerfully. Live wisely. Live courageously. Keep your heart right with God, and use every day He gives you to declare His works and fulfil your assignment.

13. I plead the blood of Jesus over my heart, my blood, my brain, and every organ in my body.

14. Every accident spirit programmed for my road, my air travel, or my daily movement, I bind you now.

15. Every arrow of cancer assigned to work death quietly in my body, I command you to die at the root, in Jesus’ name.

16. I decree that no weapon of terror, poison, or plague fashioned against me shall prosper.

17. Every evil covenant made on my behalf by my ancestors involving early death, I renounce and break it now.

18. I take back every day, month, and year the enemy has stolen from my lifespan through fear or affliction.

19. Every satanic timetable set for my death or the death of anyone in my household, I cancel it by the blood of Jesus.

20. I decree that with long life the Lord shall satisfy me, and shew me His salvation, according to Psalm 91:16.

21. Every prophet of doom, every merchant of fear, who has spoken death over my life to manipulate me, I expose and silence you now.

22. Every gate in my life opened to death through sin, compromise, or agreement with fear, I shut you now by the blood of Jesus.

24. Angels of the living God, encamp round about me and my household, and war on my behalf against every spirit of death.

25. Father, let every plan of the enemy to shorten my life or the life of my loved ones be turned back upon itself.

31. I refuse every inheritance of premature death from my father’s or my mother’s bloodline, in Jesus’ name.

32. Every witch, wizard, or agent of darkness assigned to monitor my lifespan, be blinded and scattered now.

33. I command every satanic embargo placed against my long life to be lifted, in the mighty name of Jesus.

34. Every disease silently multiplying in my body without my knowledge, be exposed and be destroyed by fire now.

35. I decree that every cell, every organ, and every system in my body shall function in perfect divine order.

36. Every negative medical report already spoken over my life or the life of my loved one, I overturn you by the Word of God.

37. Father, let Your resurrection life flow through my bloodstream and flush out every seed of death, in Jesus name.

38. Every appointment with death fixed for me by the enemy, I cancel it and replace it with an appointment with destiny.

39. I plead the blood of Jesus over every member of my household, that none shall be cut off before their time, in Jesus name.

40. Every strongman assigned over my bloodline to enforce early death, fall down and die now, in Jesus’ name.

41. I decree divine exchange – every day the enemy planned to take from me, be added back in double measure.

42. Father, let the fear of death that has held my family captive for generations be broken permanently, today, in Jesus name.

43. Every hired killer, physical or spiritual, assigned against my life, be exposed and disgraced now, in Jesus name.

44. I declare that no plague shall come near my dwelling, according to Psalm 91:10.

45. Father, let Your covenant of long life stand as an unbreakable wall around me and my children after me.

46. Father, I thank You that greater is He that is in me than any spirit of death operating in this world.

47. Every arrow of death fired at me while I am asleep or awake, go back to your sender now, in Jesus’ name.

48. I bind every spirit of infirmity working silently to weaken my body and open a door to death.

49. Every satanic bird, animal, or object used as a carrier of death assigned against me, be destroyed by fire now.

50. I reject every food, drink, or gift used as a covenant instrument to transmit death into my body.

51. Every witchcraft manipulation of my blood, my organs, or my DNA, I nullify you now by the blood of Jesus.

52. Father, let every closed evil chapter of premature death written against my generation remain closed forever.

53. I decree that my children and my children’s children shall live long and declare the works of the Lord.

54. Every marine spirit, ancestral spirit, or household wickedness pushing for my early death, I expose and cast you out now.

55. I reverse every evil dedication of my life to death made by anyone, knowingly or unknowingly, before I was born.

56. Father, let the blood of Jesus speak a better word over my life than any word spoken by the enemy.

57. Every satanic clock counting down my days wrongly, be destroyed and reset by the hand of God now.

58. I refuse to inherit the sickness that took any of my relatives before their time, in the name of Jesus.

59. Every spirit assigned to appear to me in the form of a dead relative to announce death, I reject and bind you now.

60. I decree that I will not be moved by what I feel in my body, but by what God has spoken over my life.

61. Father, let every organ transplant of fear that has replaced my peace with terror be reversed now, in Jesus’ name.

62. I declare that vengeance belongs to God alone – no enemy shall take my life outside of His divine schedule.

63. Every certificate of death issued against me in the spirit realm, I tear it now by the authority in the name of Jesus.

64. Father, let Your fire go before me and consume every trap of death laid along my path today.

65. Every generational altar where sacrifices were made in the name of my family’s early death, be desecrated now.

66. I decree that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, according to Psalm 27:13.

67. Thank You, Father, for this covenant of preservation, sealed by the blood of Jesus, in His mighty and matchless name.

68. Every point I have prayed today, I seal it with the blood of Jesus and the authority of His finished work.

69. I decree that I have prayed enough for this season – now I stand, watch, and walk in what I have declared.

70. I confess that I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord all my days.
