Take Action Now! – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: November 6, 2026
Beloved, one of the greatest enemies of your progress is not always the devil. It is not always your enemies, your family background or the hard situation around you.
Sometimes, the biggest thing standing between you and your next level is simply your refusal to take action. There are people who have been planning for years, yet they have never started anything.
They have brilliant ideas, big dreams, powerful visions and great expectations, but they are still in the same place because they are waiting for the perfect time.
They want to start a business, but they keep pushing it forward. They want to go back to school, but they have not even made a single enquiry. They want to learn a skill, but they have not registered anywhere.
They want to write a book, but the first page is still blank. They want a better marriage, but they will not think of how to deal with the issues that are hurting the relationship.
Beloved, you cannot keep postponing what you can do today and expect tomorrow to bring the results of actions you never took. A farmer who never plants should not expect to harvest.
Some people spend more time talking about their plans than working on them. They announce their dreams to everybody. They tell people what they are going to achieve.
They keep saying, “Something big is coming.” But when the time comes to take the practical steps, they disappear. Proverbs 14:23 says, “In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.” Talking alone will not take you anywhere.
Others are waiting for God to do what He has already given them the ability, wisdom and responsibility to do themselves. They pray for a job, but they don’t send out applications.
They pray to pass their exams, but they don’t study. They pray for financial stability, but they spend carelessly. They pray for better relationships, but they never apologise and never change the habits that keep hurting people.
Prayer is important. I will never tell you to stop praying. But prayer must not become a cover for laziness, fear or irresponsibility. God gave Moses a rod, but Moses still had to stretch it out.
God promised Joshua the land, but Joshua still had to march. God will do His part, but He will not do your part for you. Beloved, have you ever heard the word “take action now”?
Perhaps it has been ringing in your spirit for some time. Perhaps the Holy Spirit has been nudging you in one particular direction, and you keep pushing it aside.
Perhaps you are hearing, “Go and meet that person.” Perhaps you are hearing, “Go and declare your intention.” Perhaps you are hearing, “Change your environment now.”
When God speaks that kind of word, it is not for next year. It is for now. Sometimes your breakthrough is tied to a meeting. There is someone God wants you to see, and until you go, something will remain locked.
Beloved, who is God telling you to go and meet? It may be a destiny helper. It may be someone you offended and need to reconcile with. It may be a parent you have not visited in years.
It may be a mentor. It may be a person who needs to hear the gospel from you. Don’t keep postponing that meeting. Some doors only open when two people meet.
Some people have been carrying a desire in their hearts for years, but they have never said a word. A brother has been admiring a sister in the church for three years, praying about her every night, but he has never gone to tell her.
Meanwhile, another man came, spoke up, and married her. A sister has an idea that could transform her company, but she never told her manager. Someone else presented a similar idea and got promoted.
Look at Jacob. When he saw Rachel and fell in love with her, he did not hide it.
Genesis 29:18 says, “And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.” He declared his intention clearly to her father.
Look at Abraham’s servant. When he found Rebekah, he did not go home and keep quiet. He went straight to her family and said in Genesis 24:49, “And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.” He spoke plainly and asked for an answer.
Look at Ruth. Following Naomi’s counsel, she went to the threshing floor, lay at the feet of Boaz, and said in Ruth 3:9, “spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.”
She made her request known. And Boaz did not rest until the matter was settled that same day (Ruth 3:18). Sometimes the problem is not you. The problem is where you are.
God told Abraham in Genesis 12:1, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.”
Abraham’s blessing was not in Haran. It was in the land God would show him. He had to move.
When judgement was about to fall on Sodom, the angels told Lot in Genesis 19:17, “Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain.”
Lot was slow. He lingered. The angels had to take him by the hand and drag him out. And his wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.
When there was famine, God told Elijah in 1 Kings 17:9, “Arise, get thee to Zarephath… behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” His provision was not where he was. It was in Zarephath.
Some people are praying for growth in an environment that is choking them. Some are praying for holiness while living among people who mock God every day.
Some are praying for progress in a place where everybody around them is going nowhere. Some are in relationships that keep pulling them back into sin. Some are in jobs where their gifts are dying.
1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” Your environment will either build you or break you.
Changing your environment may mean relocating. It may mean changing your circle of friends. It may mean leaving a toxic relationship. It may mean changing your church if you are not being fed.
It may mean switching off certain things you watch and listen to. It may mean finding a quiet place to pray when your house is too noisy.
Beloved, there is a disease that has destroyed more destinies than witchcraft. It has buried more visions than poverty. It has killed more dreams than sickness. That disease is called procrastination.
“I will start tomorrow.” “Let me wait until things are better.” “When I have enough money, I will begin.” “When the children grow up, I will go back to school.”
“Next year, I will give my life fully to God.” “When the time is right, I will apologise.” And tomorrow becomes next week, next week becomes next year, and next year becomes never.
The devil does not always need to stop you with a big attack. Sometimes he simply tells you, “Not today. Tomorrow.” And tomorrow never comes.
Today, God is saying to you: take action now. Not next month. Not when everything is perfect. Now. The Bible says, “Behold, now is the accepted time” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
There are blessings waiting on the other side of your obedience. There are doors that will only open when you start walking. And there are miracles that only happen as you go.
Many people are sitting at the gate of their own lives. They are not happy where they are. They know their situation is not good. But they are afraid to move. They are waiting for perfect conditions.
They are waiting for someone to come and carry them. They are waiting for a sign from heaven. Meanwhile, the famine is getting worse.
Notice also what was happening in the background. 2 Kings 7:6 says, “For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host.”
God had already done the miracle. The enemy had already run. The food was already there. But nobody would have enjoyed it if those lepers had kept sitting.
Beloved, God may have already prepared your breakthrough. The provision may already be there. The door may already be open. But you will never see it until you rise and walk toward it.
Some of your miracles are not waiting for more prayer. They are waiting for your feet to take action.
There is a time for prayer, and there is a time for action. Prayer is powerful, but some people use prayer as an excuse not to move. They keep praying about the business they never start, the course they never register for, the apology they never make, the calling they never obey.
God is saying, “Why are you still crying to Me about what I have already told you to do? Go forward!” When Moses stretched out his rod and the people moved, the sea opened.
The Red Sea did not open while they were standing and crying. It opened when they obeyed and moved. The same happened at the Jordan. God told Joshua that the waters would stand when the priests stepped in.
Joshua 3:15-16 says, “And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water… That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap.” The water did not part before they moved. It parted when their feet touched it.
Some people believe they must wait until everything is favourable before they make a move. They are waiting for enough money, enough time, enough support, enough confidence and the perfect season.
But Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” If you wait until there is no wind and no cloud, you will never plant anything. There will always be a reason to wait.
Now let me be balanced, because the Bible also teaches us to wait on the Lord. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.”
There are times when God says “not yet,” and moving ahead of Him can be costly. Abraham and Sarah could not wait, and Ishmael was the result. Jesus Himself told us to count the cost before building a tower (Luke 14:28). So planning is good, and seeking God’s timing is wise.
But there is a difference between waiting on God and waiting because of fear. Waiting on God is active; you are praying, preparing and listening for His instruction.
Waiting because of fear is passive; you are simply sitting, hoping that one day you will feel ready. One is faith. The other is procrastination dressed up as patience.
There is also a difference between real obstacles and excuses. Some people truly face difficult circumstances, and those challenges are real. But even in hard situations, there is usually one small step you can take.
You may not have the money to start the full business, but you can learn about it. You may not be able to go back to school this year, but you can make enquiries. You may not be able to fix your whole marriage today, but you can start the conversation.
So ask yourself honestly: Am I waiting on God, or am I waiting because I am afraid? Is God saying “not yet,” or am I the one saying “not now”?
If God has already spoken and given you what you need for the next step, then it is time to move. Don’t wait to have everything. Start with what you have.
Moses had a rod. David had a sling. The widow had a little oil. The boy had five loaves and two fishes. God used what they had because they were willing to put it to use.
Take one step today. Then take another tomorrow. You will be surprised how far you go when you finally decide to start. Beloved, taking action now does not mean acting without thinking. It still requires wisdom.
Some decisions need facts. Some need counsel. Some need time. Proverbs 15:22 says, “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.”
Proverbs 19:2 also warns that “he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.” Rushing into a major decision without information is not faith; it is carelessness. Ask God to show you what is really holding you back.
Psalm 139:23 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.” Sometimes we don’t even know why we keep delaying until we sit quietly before God.
If fear is holding you back, tell Him what you are afraid of. Be specific. “Lord, I am afraid of failing.” “Lord, I am afraid they will reject me.” “Lord, I am afraid I will lose money.”
Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” God is not offended by your fears. He wants you to bring them to Him so He can replace them with peace.
If the task feels too big, don’t try to do all of it at once. Choose one part that you can finish today. Just one. Write the first paragraph. Make the first call. When you finish that one part, you will have more strength for the next.
If pride is stopping you from asking for help, humble yourself and speak to someone you trust. Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”
There is no shame in saying, “I don’t know how to do this. Can you help me?” Naaman almost lost his healing because of pride, but he listened to his servants and was made whole.
Give your intention a time and a step. Many good intentions die because they have no time and no step attached to them. “I will call him sometime.” “I will start one of these days.” “I will apologise when I see her.” Those are wishes, not plans.
Give your intention a specific time and a practical step. Say, “At twelve noon today, I will make that call.” Say, “On Saturday morning, I will visit the school and ask about admission.” Say, “Tonight before I sleep, I will send that message.” Say, “On Monday, I will open a savings account.”
Look at Nehemiah. When he heard that the walls of Jerusalem were broken, he prayed and fasted for days. But he also prepared. So when the king asked him what he wanted, he was ready.
Nehemiah 2:6 says, “So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.” Nehemiah had a time. He had a plan. He even asked for letters to the governors and timber for the gates (Nehemiah 2:7 to 8). His prayer was backed by specific, practical steps.
Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Commit your plan to God, attach a time to it, and then follow through.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:37, “But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay.” When you tell yourself you will do something at a particular time, honour that word, even if it is only a word you gave to yourself and to God. Ecclesiastes 5:4 says, “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it.”
When the time comes, don’t negotiate with yourself. Just do it. You will feel better afterwards. And each time you follow through, it becomes easier the next time.
WISDOM FOR TODAY
Don’t wait for the perfect day; it may never come. Pray, plan, and then take the first step. God can steer a moving ship, but a ship that never leaves the harbour goes nowhere.
PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Before this day ends, take one concrete action on something you have been postponing for a long time. Not a plan, not a prayer request, but an actual step. Send that application. Make that phone call. Pay that vow. Start that project. Apologise to that person. Register for that course. Then write down what you did and thank God for giving you the courage to move. Do the same thing again tomorrow.
EVANGELISM CHALLENGE
Many people around you have been saying “one day” to God for years. Today, reach out to one person and gently tell them that now is the accepted time. Share the story of Felix who waited for a convenient season. Tell them that tomorrow is not promised, but Jesus is ready to receive them today. Pray with them, and invite them to give their lives to Christ right now.

AFRICAN PROVERB
“If you wait for tomorrow, tomorrow comes. If you don’t wait for tomorrow, tomorrow comes.”
Meaning: Tomorrow will come whether you act or not. Time does not stop for anyone. The only difference is whether you will meet tomorrow with something done or with nothing done. Waiting does not slow down time; it only wastes it. So do not sit and wait for tomorrow to bring change. Begin today, and when tomorrow comes, it will meet you already moving.
CLOSING REFLECTION
Beloved, the four lepers asked, “Why sit we here until we die?” and their decision to rise brought deliverance to a whole city. Your decision to take action today may not only change your life; it may change your family, your community and your generation.
Stop waiting for the perfect time. Stop waiting for everything to be in place. Stop waiting for someone to push you. God has already gone ahead of you. The sea is waiting for your feet. The Jordan is waiting for your step. The empty camp is waiting for your arrival.
Rise up now. Take that step today. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
Stay blessed, stay moving, and take action now!
