People Are Watching You – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: November 5, 2026
Beloved, whether you know it or not, people are watching you. Your neighbours are watching how you live. Your colleagues are watching how you work.
Your children are watching how you talk to your spouse. Your church members are watching how you handle people. Your unbelieving friends are watching to see if your Christianity is real. Your enemies are watching, waiting for you to fall.
Destiny helpers are quietly watching your character before they open doors for you. And above all, the eyes of the Lord are watching, “beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3).
You can’t stop people from watching you. Some are studying your character. Some are waiting for your mistakes. Some are watching your determination and consistency.
Some are paying attention to the way you talk. Some notice the way you dress. Some are curious about how you behave when you are alone. And some are even watching you in the spirit.
Before anyone favours a man, they would have watched him. They would have studied his profile. Favour rarely falls on a stranger; it usually follows a life that has been observed and found trustworthy.
Your children are watching. Your spouse is watching. Your friends, colleagues, neighbours and younger believers are all watching how you live.
Many of them will never come and tell you what they have noticed, but your conduct is shaping what they think about you and about the God you serve.
You may never know who is learning from your example. It could be your child. It could be your neighbour.
It could be someone in your office, your employee, a member of your church, or a person who follows you quietly on social media and has never sent you a single message.
Some people will never tell you that your life inspired them. Others are quietly learning from your mistakes. Your attitude, your decisions and your character are influencing people every day, either for good or for bad.
The way you live can either make people trust you more or make them question everything you say you believe. You preach honesty, but are you honest in your business?
You talk about Christ in church and online, but have you ever spoken to your next door neighbour about Him? Your friends know you as a gentle and humble person, but out there on the street, at the bank, at the market, people who don’t know you see a proud and harsh person.
One day you are walking on the road, and a man stuck in traffic looks out of his car window and says, “Is that not the man who preaches every Sunday?” What did he see you doing at that moment?
Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Notice what Jesus did not say. He did not say we should live to impress people. He said our good works should point people to God. The goal is not that people will praise you; the goal is that when they look at you, they will see the Father.
Beloved, there is something you keep doing that gets you noticed. It may be your diligence. It may be your honesty. It may be your kindness, your humility, your punctuality, your prayer life, or the excellence you bring to everything you touch.
That thing is the reason people call you. That thing is the reason doors keep opening for you. That thing is the reason your name keeps coming up.
But hear me: the moment you stop doing that thing, people will begin to leave. The attention will drop. The invitations will stop. The same people who once celebrated you will quietly move on to someone else. Not always because they are wicked, but because the very thing that drew them to you is no longer there.
Look at Samson. As long as he kept his Nazarite vow, the Spirit of the Lord moved upon him, and the Philistines feared him. But when he stopped guarding what made him different, his strength departed. Judges 16:20 says, “And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” The people who once trembled at his name now made sport of him.
Look at King Saul. When he was humble, God anointed him and the people followed him. But when he stopped obeying, God rejected him, the anointing moved to David, and even the women began to sing, “Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7).
So whatever God has placed in you that brings you favour, guard it. Protect it. Keep doing it. Don’t become careless because people have started noticing you. Don’t relax because you have arrived. The same diligence that brought you to the top is what will keep you there.
And remember, great people are watching you. Kings are watching. Leaders are watching. Employers are watching. Destiny helpers are watching.
They may not say anything today, but they are taking note. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
Somebody great is preparing to visit your life. Make sure that when they come, they will find you still doing the thing that drew them. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Don’t stop. Don’t change. Don’t let go of what God used to lift you. Great people are watching, and your due season is on the way.
Beyond human eyes, there are also spiritual eyes watching. There are monitoring spirits, satanic agents assigned to observe the lives of believers, track their movements, and report their weaknesses to the kingdom of darkness.
Isaiah 47:13 speaks of “the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators.” These are people and powers who watch stars and destinies to predict and manipulate them.
Many people have their destinies monitored by evil powers. Whenever they are about to break through, something happens. Whenever they plan something good, the enemy seems to know in advance.
Job 1:7 shows Satan “going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” He is watching. He saw Job. He knew about the hedge. He was looking for an opening.
That is why your life must be covered in the Blood of Jesus and hidden in Christ. Colossians 3:3 says, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” When your life is hidden in Christ, monitoring spirits will look, but they will not find you.
And thank God, there is a higher watcher. Psalm 121:4 says, “Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” The eyes that watch over you are stronger than the eyes that watch against you.
2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”
Today, pray against every evil eye monitoring your destiny, and ask God to cover you from their sight.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:2 that we are epistles, letters, “known and read of all men.” Many people will never read the Bible, but they are reading you. Your life is the only Bible some people will ever open. The question is: what are they reading?
Jesus said, “A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” You cannot become a child of God and hide. The moment you received Christ, a light was switched on in your life, and light attracts attention.
People will look. Some will look to learn from you. Some will look for the areas to criticise in your life. Some will look to copy you. Some will look to attack you.
Today, the Holy Spirit wants you to realise that you are on display. Not so that you will live in fear or pretence, but so that you will live in such a way that when people look at you, they see Jesus, and when your enemies look at you, they find nothing to use against you.
Beloved, do you know that you cannot stop people from watching your life from a distance? There are people around you who are waiting for you to fall. They are waiting for you to lose your temper.
They are waiting for you to make a financial mistake. They are waiting for a scandal. They are waiting for your marriage to break. Do not give them that satisfaction. Titus 2:8 says live in such a way “that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.”
Many people do not realise that destiny helpers often watch your character before they help you. Promotion is not always announced; sometimes it is decided quietly by someone who has been observing you.
Ruth went to glean in the field of Boaz, and she did not know he was watching. But when Boaz came, he asked about her, and his servant gave a good report.
Boaz said to her in Ruth 2:11, “It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband.”
Her kindness to Naomi, which she did without expecting anything, was being watched. And that character led her to marriage, honour, and a place in the lineage of Jesus.
The Queen of Sheba came to test Solomon. 1 Kings 10:4-5 says, “And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built, And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.”
She watched everything, even how his servants were dressed and how they served. And she gave Solomon great treasures. Joseph interpreted the dream of Pharaoh’s butler in prison.
The butler forgot him for two years, but when the opportunity came, he remembered that young Hebrew who had a gift and a good spirit. That memory brought Joseph from the prison to the palace (Genesis 41:9-14).
Beloved, the person you are rude to today may be the person God sent to lift you tomorrow. The job you are doing carelessly may be under the eyes of someone who wants to promote you. Live well, work well, and treat people well, because destiny helpers are watching.
Some people behave well only when they know people are looking. In public, they are holy; in private, they are something else. But character is what you are when nobody is watching.
Joseph was alone in the house with Potiphar’s wife. Genesis 39:11 says, “there was none of the men of the house there within.” Nobody was watching. Nobody would have known.
But Joseph said in verse 9, “how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” He knew that even when no human eye was watching, God was.
Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Hebrews 4:13 says, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
Hebrews 12:1 also reminds us that “we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses.” The saints who have gone before us, the heroes of faith, are like a crowd in a stadium, watching us run our race.
So live before God first. If you live right before God in private, you will shine before men in public. Let me balance this. Knowing that people are watching you should not make you a people pleaser.
Some people become so conscious of what others think that they live in pretence, always performing, always trying to impress. That is not what God is asking.
Paul said in Galatians 1:10, “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
Jesus also warned in Matthew 6:1, “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.”
The goal is not to be seen; the goal is that when you are seen, God is glorified. You don’t shine to show yourself; you shine to show Jesus. A lamp does not draw attention to itself; it helps people see. Live for an audience of One, and the right people will be blessed by what they see.
Beloved, your consistent life may be opening doors you don’t even know about.
Somebody may be watching you this season and preparing a room for you, a job, an opportunity, a recommendation, a marriage proposal, because they have perceived something in you. Your character is speaking when you are not even talking.
Beloved, your reputation is walking around town without you. It is entering rooms before you arrive. Sometimes, by the time you meet the person who can help you, they have already heard about you. What have they heard?
Abraham, the friend of God, once lied about his wife Sarah, saying she was his sister. And it was a pagan king, Abimelech, who had to rebuke him: “What hast thou done unto us?… thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done” (Genesis 20:9). Imagine an unbeliever correcting the man of God.
When David sinned with Bathsheba, Nathan told him, “By this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme” (2 Samuel 12:14). His sin did not only hurt him. It gave the enemies of God a reason to mock God’s name.
Paul said something similar to the religious people of his day: “For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you” (Romans 2:24).
Beloved, this is serious. When a Christian cheats in business, people don’t only say, “That man is a cheat.”
They say, “See this person who deceives people with Bible” When a pastor is caught in scandal, the whole church carries the shame or feel sorry for the man. Our lives either honour the name of Jesus or give people a reason to mock it.
Beloved, I am not telling you to become paranoid and start suspecting everybody. I am telling you to live in such a way that if somebody is watching to find fault, they will go home disappointed.
Paul told Titus to live “that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you” (Titus 2:8).
Beloved, people are not usually watching the big things. People are watching the small things. Anybody can behave well on Sunday morning with the microphone in his hand.
How you drive in traffic. How you speak to the waiter who brought the wrong food. Whether you pay back the money you borrowed.
Whether you keep your appointment or come two hours late with an excuse. How you treat the security man and the cleaner. What you post on social media at midnight. What you do when you think nobody is looking.
These small things are what people remember. And these small things are what make your big words believable. Jesus told us to let our light shine before men.
But He also said, “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 6:1). How do these two fit together?
It is about the purpose. If you are doing good so that people will praise you, that is performance, and Jesus said you already have your reward. But if you are simply living for God, and people happen to see and glorify Him, that is the light shining.
So don’t start acting holy because people are watching. That is just another mask. Live right because God is watching. “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3).
If you live right before God in private, you will not have to perform in public. The light will shine on its own.
And another balance: you cannot please everybody. Some people will criticise you no matter what you do. Jesus was perfect, and they still called Him a glutton and a winebibber (Matthew 11:19).
Don’t let fear of people’s opinion become your master. Just make sure that if they speak against you, it is a lie and not the truth.
Beloved, people are watching you. Your children, your spouse, your colleagues, your neighbours, young believers and even people who don’t like you.
Many of them will never read the Bible, but they are reading you. You are a letter, known and read of all men.
Be like Elisha, whose consistent life made a woman perceive that he was a holy man. Be like Joseph, whose master saw that the Lord was with him. Be like Ruth, whose reputation went ahead of her.
Be like Daniel, whose enemies could find no fault. And don’t be like Lot, whose words carried no weight because his life carried no testimony.
Pay attention to the small things, because that is where people really see you. But don’t perform for people. Live before God, and let the light shine on its own. Don’t be afraid of critics; just give them nothing true to say.
And if you have already failed in front of people, don’t hide. Repent openly and let them see God restore you. Your comeback can also glorify God.
Beloved, in this life, people must watch you. It is not something you can stop. And many of those who watch you are not watching by accident; they are watching on purpose.
A president may be watching you. A governor may be watching you. Your boss may be watching you. Your pastor may be watching you. Your friend may be watching your steps. Someone in a high place may have heard your name and is quietly checking to see if what they heard is true.
The reason people like you is because of that good thing you are doing. It may be your honesty. It may be your hard work. It may be your humility. It may be your kindness, your faithfulness, your punctuality, your respect for others, or the way you carry God’s presence.
That is what drew them to you. But the moment you stop being that person, the moment you stop doing what they loved about you, things begin to change. The love cools down. The doors begin to close. The favour begins to move to someone else.
That is why you must keep doing the good thing you are doing. Do not stop. Do not get tired. You may not know when the favour will come, and you may not know through whom it will come.
Somebody had been watching David. When King Saul was troubled by an evil spirit, his servants suggested that someone should play the harp for him.
Then one of the servants spoke up in 1 Samuel 16:18: “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.”
Look at that! David was in the bush looking after sheep. He did not know anybody in the palace was talking about him. But someone had been watching him. They had seen him play. They had seen his courage. They had seen his wisdom.
They had seen the way he carried himself. And they had seen that the Lord was with him. One day, his name came up in the palace, and that was how David entered the king’s house.
You don’t know whose mouth will mention your name in a place you have never been. Keep doing the right thing.
Somebody had been watching Rebekah. When Abraham’s servant went to look for a wife for Isaac, he stood by the well and watched the young women coming to draw water.
Rebekah came, and when he asked for a little water, she gave him to drink and then offered to draw water for all his camels too. That was a lot of work. Ten thirsty camels can drink a lot of water.
Genesis 24:21 says, “And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.” He was watching her quietly. He didn’t say anything. He just watched. And her simple act of kindness to a stranger made her the wife of Isaac and the mother of Jacob.
Rebekah did not know she was being interviewed. She was just being herself. Somebody is watching you right now, and you don’t even know it is an interview.
Somebody had recorded what Mordecai did. Mordecai once discovered a plot by two of the king’s servants to kill King Ahasuerus. He reported it, the plot was stopped, and the matter was written in the king’s book of records. After that, nothing happened. No reward. No promotion. No thank you. Mordecai simply went back to sitting at the king’s gate.
Years passed. Then one night, Esther 6:1 says, “On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.”
As they read, they came to the account of what Mordecai did. The king asked in verse 3, “What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this?” And his servants answered, “There is nothing done for him.”
That same night, Haman was on his way to ask the king to hang Mordecai. But by the next day, Haman himself was leading Mordecai through the streets on the king’s horse, dressed in the king’s robe, announcing, “Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour” (Esther 6:11).
Mordecai did not know when the favour would come. He did good and kept going. And when God was ready, He made a king lose sleep just to remember him.
Hebrews 6:10 says, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love.” What you did that nobody appreciated has not been forgotten. It is in the records.
Daniel’s excellence was being watched. Daniel 6:3 says, “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.”
The king was watching. He noticed Daniel’s excellent spirit, and he was thinking about promoting him over the whole kingdom. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings.” Your diligence is your introduction to kings.
Don’t stop being who you are. Some people started very well. They were humble, prayerful, hardworking and kind. That is what brought them favour. But when the favour came, they changed. They became proud. They stopped praying. They stopped greeting people. They became careless with their work.
Look at King Saul. Samuel told him in 1 Samuel 15:17, “When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel?” When Saul was humble, God lifted him. When he became big in his own eyes, he lost everything.
Paul asked the Galatians in Galatians 5:7, “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” Some of us were running well. What happened? What made you stop being the person people loved and trusted?
Jesus told the church at Ephesus in Revelation 2:4 to 5, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works.” Go back to the first works. Go back to the things you used to do that drew God’s favour and people’s favour.
Keep doing good. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Notice the condition: “if we faint not.” Many people stop just before their season of reaping.
1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
So keep being kind, even when it seems nobody notices you. Keep working hard, even when nobody praises you. Keep being honest, even when dishonest people seem to be doing better. Keep praying, keep giving, keep serving, keep respecting people, keep showing up.
You don’t know when the favour will come. You don’t know who has been watching. You don’t know whose sleepless night will bring your name to remembrance. But one thing is sure: if you keep doing good, your due season will come.
Do not live in fear because people are watching. Live with awareness. Let it make you careful, consistent and genuine. Be the same person in church and at home, in public and in private, online and offline, with the rich and with the poor.
And remember, beyond every human eye, there is one pair of eyes that never closes. Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Live right before Him, and you will never have to worry about who else is watching.
PRAYER ASSIGNMENT – NIGHT
(Pray aggressively, preferably between 12 midnight and 3 a.m.)
1. Father, I thank You because the One who keeps me neither slumbers nor sleeps.
2. I cover myself, my family and my home with the Blood of Jesus tonight.
3. I surround my life with the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’ name.
4. Every monitoring spirit assigned to watch my life, be blinded by fire, in Jesus’ name.
CLOSING REFLECTION
Beloved, people are watching you. Some are watching to learn, some to copy, some to criticise, some to attack, and some to help. Spiritual eyes are watching too. But above them all, the eyes of the Lord are upon you.
Do not let this make you afraid. Let it make you careful. Let it make you faithful. Let it make you shine. Live in such a way that your children are blessed after you, your enemies find nothing against you, unbelievers glorify God because of you, and destiny helpers are drawn to you.
You are a city set on a hill. You are a living letter. You are the light of the world. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Stay blessed, stay faithful, and keep shining.
