I would be giving you some effective prayer points for soul winning that is working for the children of God, the benefits and the great drawback. Lot of people have the tactics of fishing for souls, but the Bible says many have little or no passion to do a follow up. And that is the major purpose of winning – follow up. Soul winning is not just an ordinary exercise meant to populate or increase the number of people in the church. It is not an avenue to advertize a church name or pastor’s name. It’s purpose is more than that. It is very unfortunate to see many churches having this wrong perspective about soul winning.

In the Bible, God takes the business of evangelism very serious and has placed it as a command for us to harvest souls. No wonder He says with authority in the book of Matthew 28:19-20, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Private devotions can’t replace soul winning. The Bible never said that. For example, if you have a revelation about becoming a pastor, or a leader, or God asks you to go out for visitation, obedience is the first key: you must release out these power embedded in your gifts to others. In the Bible, Paul was able to use his power to preach the gospel of Christ to everyone.  The message of salvation he preached wasn’t done in vain. It was indeed targeted.  He was a crucified man! Only a crucified man can preach a message of salvation and repentance will take place. He had no confidence in himself. He did not rely on himself or pastors, but God as the source of his strength.

The need for salvation

There are many unsaved souls out there. There are many people whose hopes have been shattered to pieces. There are many people backsliding thinking that God is unjust to them. I want to ask you a question: How would you feel to hear that fire brand Christian lady is now resorting to prostitution. This is the reasons why God is calling us to stand up and hunt for souls, encourage them and pray for them.

If you read your Bible very carefully, you will come to understand that Jesus’ evangelical mission was borne out of passion for the unsaved and poor souls. One of the greatest blessings is giving. Perhaps you have the gift of praying, preaching, motivating, winning souls, etc, then this is what God wants you to utilize as a strategy in bringing souls to his kingdom. Today, we are now seeing churches busy with internal programmes, while the business of evangelism is low. The Bible says, he that winneth soul is wise (Prov 11:30).

One of the passages that shows to me the responsibility that we have to win the lost for Christ is the statement that Paul made when he spoke to the Ephesian elders. In Luke’s account of that speech, Paul said, “Wherefore I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of all men” (Acts 20:26).

Paul recognized that he was pure from the blood of all men because he had not shunned to declare unto them all of the counsel of God (Acts 20:27), that he had labored diligently to teach them both publicly and from house to house (Acts 20:20), and he had kept back nothing that was profitable unto them (Acts 20:20).

A lot of people have a very shallow concept of what it means to become a soul winner. To some people, to win a soul means that you are expected to be at church on Sunday. To some, winning souls is by praying and attending deliverance services. You may not be surprised to hear someone saying soul winning is meant only for the church evangelism department.

For example, it is possible for  God to tell you to embark on evangelism (morning cry) and pay less attention on prayers. We need to go out to the villages, street, road, buses etc and disseminate the gospel of Christ everywhere. Have you asked the Lord to give you the joy of winning your neighbours to Him? Look up Luke 5:27-29; John 4:39. You are living where you are, not by chance, but because the Lord wants you to be His witness just there.

Psalm 9:17 says, “The wicked shall be turned into Hell and all the nations that forget God.” Revelation 21:8 says those without Christ will have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. The power of soul winning is much. Because of the sin  and the high number of pollution, defilement and lust of the world, for this purpose , God is sending us to the world to convert souls and turn their ways from wickedness.

Do you know how important for heaven to rejoice at the people you converted to Christ? What a blessing it will be for us to see the newly convert becoming pastors, teachers, evangelist, prophets, apostles. So, to God, you will be rewarded for this. It is a great joy in heaven to liberate a family or dedicate a village to Christ. It will be a great singing in heaven for you to win the soul of a Goliath. Sometimes, that’s why the reason some enemies refuses to die by the force of our prayers is because God wants us to bring them to light.

WHAT IS SOUL WINNING?

Jesus told His disciples, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Soul winning means the art of teaching the God’s message to the unsaved for the purpose of bringing them to Christ. It can also mean the ability to persuade, convince people by letting them know the importance of God’s love upon them. A soul winner is likely to be receive a divine prize of life. In another definition, soul wining means an ability to arrest and loose God’s children from demonic captivity, sin and foundation. An art of evangelism is a divine practice and can take place in private and public places. For you to win souls, you need to be broken, prayerful, wise and creative, caring etc.

Many years ago when I was a polytechnic student in Nigeria. At about 5 am early in the morning. Lo and behold, I was hearing the voice of a young lady who was preaching about the danger of sin. It was a wonderful and powerful message. Though, I was reading my book for my next exam. As she was preaching, God used her to speak to me to leave a certain sin which has become a stubborn seed in my life and that sin is anger. Oh my God, I  opened my window to look at the face of the lady, but I couldn’t because it was very dark then. When she  rounded up her sermon and prayers, she mentioned her names and phone number. I said, thank God for connecting me to this lady. Around 10 am that same day, I gave her a call explaining how her sermon had transformed my life and made me a better person. She was happy. Afterwards, we became a good friend and that’s how she finally made me a BROKEN CHRISTIAN!!! Praise the LORD!

Some Reasons Why Prayer Is Essential To Soul Winning

1 Timothy 2:1
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

• Prayer is the force that gives power and confidence to speak out the word of God without fear. (2 Tim 1:7)
• Prayer make sure that the unsaved souls are able to give their lives to Christ and make heaven at last.
• Prayer helps to protect the unsaved souls and win them back to Christ.
• Prayer is necessary for the successful beginning and ending of  evangelism outreach.
• Prayer gives you power to heal, deliver and restore the hope of the hopeless.

Let me share with you seven great lessons from the book of Jonah.

1.  God is not happy when people do bad things.
2. Instead of making excuses, use your talents to fulfill God’s mission. (Jonah ran away from God as he does not want Him to extend the same love to his enemies. When bad things happen to good people, we seek God to satisfy our quest for an answer. But when bad things happen to bad people, we seem satisfied and thought they deserved that to happen).
3. Hiding or running away from God is not a solution.
4. God is willing to forgive the repentant sinner. (Jonah wants the city to be punished because they are wicked. The reason why he refused to go to Nineveh is that God is a loving and compassionate, that he is willing to forgive the people of Nineveh should they be repented because Jonah knew God well (Jonah 4:2)
5. Celebrate when others have been blessed by God.
6. Your course of action will either causes troubles or blessing with others (Jonah is the reason why there is a storm. Unlike Joseph in Egypt who became a blessing to Pharaoh, Jonah had caused so much trouble and distress. All the sailors were afraid and they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten up the ship)

When you understand the importance of outreach, you’ll always be willing and excited to embark on evangelism. One of the beautiful things the Holy Spirit has done in our lives as God’s children is to give us the ability to go ye to the world as his disciples. To find yourself in the course of teaching people the word of God, it will keep you more “fit” spiritually, and responsive to God’s instruction.

The more time you spend in fellowship  and evangelizing, and praying to the unsaved souls, the more His glory will be seen in you. However, some are only compelled to visit people for harvest them to Christ when they face crises in life, and that’s not right. God command us into the works of fishing for souls by feeding them with the fruit of the spirit and power; that’s what soul winning, is primarily for: fellowship! Take your personal of prayer and teaching very seriously. Create the opportunities to make others know that truly God loves them.

If your primarily purpose is to build your spiritual life, you must first  gets connected with God’s will, His purpose, and supports. But your mind has a role in this; you must not allow the enemy to play with your mind by going into sin. Sin is a great drawback to God’s gospel. It makes you to work much and achieving no heavenly rewards or blessings. No matter your role in church or a level of your grace, you probably must ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit. It will give you divine support and grace through humility. May God help you.

OTHER BENEFITS OF WINNING A SOUL

1. It will open their eyes to the good things of God.
2. It will turn them from darkness to light (2 Cor 4:6).
3. It will force them to repent and forsake their sins (2 Chro 7:14)
4. It gives access to divine mercy and forgiveness.
5. It makes your name to be recorded in the book of life.
6. It gives a provision for divine healing and inheritance.
7. It makes God to look at your case and answer it speedily.
8. It commands God to say a good word about you: This is my truely beloved son or daughter (Mat 3:17).
9. It gives you peace of mind and unspeakable joy.
10. It gives you the spirit of fruitfulness and celebration all – round.

Drawback to Evangelism

• Inadequate preparation.
• Low level of prayer and fasting.
• Lack of spiritual mapping and control.
• No good strategies for finishing well.
• No consistent follow up of new converts.
• No tracks or motivation to continue.
• Preaching a message of prosperity and materialism as the subject of his teaching.

Instruction: Embark on 7 days prayers and fasting between 6 am to 6 pm. Carryout the assignment with seriousness. You should have some tracts or address where the new convert can meet you.  Don’t allow anything to distract you. You must rebuke the spirit of procrastination and laziness more often. Evangelism is a sweet thing to do. Take your time and do it. Above all, let God lead you.

Day 1

• Praise and worship.
• Surrender your life to Christ and be connected to Him.
• Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess it.
• Pray well before you embark on soul winning and let God empower you.
• Read enough scriptures: Rom 1:16, Rom 8, Acts 1:8.

1. O Lord, impact me with divine wisdom and understanding to win souls into your kingdom, in Jesus name (Pro 4:7).
2. As I made up my mind to seek your kingdom by embarking on winning souls, O Lord, let my desires be established and multiplied (Matt. 6:33)
3. Anti -evangelism and anti-soul winning spirit, my life is not your candidate I bind and cast you out from my life and my mission, in Jesus name.

2. Lord Jesus, I come before you today for your divine assistance, empower me to heal the sick in this ward, in Jesus name.
3. Father, you have promised me in your word saying …I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee…let the sick receive their healing.
4. Every power resisting the entrance of the word of God, be chased away by fire, in the name of Jesus.
5. O! Lord my God, release the atmosphere of divine healing  for the sake of sick people in this hospital, in Jesus name.
6. Let the hands of evil be removed from the the lives of people on the sickbed, in the name of Jesus.

8. O Lord, set your children free from any sickness transmitted into their life by enemies, in Jesus name.
9. Spirit of healing and sound mind, rest upon the sick people in this hospital ward, in Jesus name. (Isaiah 11:2).
10. As I preach the word of God, let it come with power and transformation, in Jesus name.
11. Let every satanic stronghold against the salvation of the children of God in hospital, be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.
12. O Lord, let souls lying down on the sickbed knows that you are a great physician, in the name of Jesus.
13. Agenda of the wicked against my hospital visitation is cancelled by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus name.
14. As I step my feet on this ward, there shall be instant miracles, healing and testimonies, in the name of Jesus.
15. Any sick people appointed to die soon, O God arise and prolong their lives, save and protect them, in the name of Jesus.
16. Father Lord, let your kingdom be established in this hospital and let every oppressed souls be delivered, in the name of Jesus.
17. I break the curse of endless pain and no rest inflicted upon these ones, in the name of Jesus.
18. Mercy of God, provide restoration for all those who are wounded physically and spiritually, in the name of Jesus.
19. Let the angel of God hinder and stop all the work of darkness against the salvation of lost souls, in the name of Jesus.
20. Father, my soul is waiting to see the manifestation of your works upon the sick in hospital, arise and do your wonders, in the name of Jesus (Psalm 33:20).

• Develop the spirit of Apostle Paul. Use wisdom.
• Confess the word always as you go out for this all important divine assignment.
• Make sure you did not go to a place or person God didn’t assign you to go or meet.

1. Thank you Jesus for giving me the passion to go ye into the world and preach the gospel.
2. O Lord, arise and go before me as I embark to reach out to your children, in Jesus name.
3. Let the blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Ghost saturate me for efficient service, in the name of Jesus.
4. O! Lord, order my steps in your word, and let not iniquity have dominion over me in Jesus name.
5. My Father, carry me to the place, house, or people you where you want me to preach, in Jesus name.
6. I sanctify these fliers, anointing oil and water with the blood of Jesus.
7. As I embark on the programme, O Lord, let people hear your message through me, in the name of Jesus.

12. By the grace of God, I will not do God’s work and regret in frustration, in the name of Jesus.
13. As I go out, O Lord, help me to bring one or more souls readily available to serve you forever more, in Jesus name.
14. You spirit of death and hell, release every unsaved soul in this area now!!! in the name of Jesus.
15. I take authority over the hardened heart refusing to hear, or listen to the word of God. O Lord, saturate their heart with love.

17. I decree that my message will arrest many people to give their lives to Christ, in Jesus name.
18. Any evil monitoring spirit assigned against me, scattered by fire, in the name of Jesus.

DELIVERANCE PRAYER FOR PROTECTION FROM EVIL ATTACKS AFTER SOUL WINNING

• Surrender your life to Christ and be connected to Him.
• Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess it.
• Be steadfast in your walk with God (1 Cor 15:58).
• Pray at midnight and counter attack against them.
• Barricade yourself with the blood of Jesus.
• Read Psalm 91, Psalm 35, Psalm 27, Psalm 109.

1. Fire in the word of God enter my life forcefully, in the name of Jesus.
2. Lord Jesus, empower me to have a deep love and affection for You, in the name of Jesus.
3. Spirit of relentless evangelism, enter into my life by fire, in the name of Jesus.
4. Every evil gang-up against my evangelism, scatter unto desolation, in the name of Jesus.
5. I come against any power that wants to attack me as a result of people that I have converted to Christ.
6. Angels of war, arise, kill every enemies of my progress in the name of Jesus.
7. Every witch/wizard that wants to terminate my divine calling and soul winning passion, be roasted, in the name of Jesus.
8. Let the blood of Jesus protect the new converts and help them not to turn back again, in Jesus name.
9. Father, deliver me from any sickness or attacks that may want to claim my life, in the name of Jesus.
10. Strongman behind my total failure in evangelism, catch fire in the name of Jesus!
11. I decree that I shall not miss my divine assignment on earth, in the name of Jesus.
12. Anywhere evil is determined against me, beginning from now, scatter in the name of Jesus.
13. Every spoken word of the wicked indicating that my work for God is just temporal, be scattered and aborted by fire, in Jesus name.
14. Any mark of ‘thou shall not win any souls’, be erased by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus name.
15. Every strongman blowing the wind of error into my life, go back to senders, in the name of Jesus.
16. Dream killers, you shall not succeed in wasting the lives of the new converts, in the name of Jesus.
17. Oh Lord, let every device of the enemy against the newly converted souls, be frustrated, in the name of Jesus.
18. I will not give up in harvesting souls for God’s kingdom. As a result of this, any power assigned to weaken my anointing, disgrace me and reduce my fire, fall down and die, in the name of Jesus.
19. Every power that acquired witchcraft spirit  against me because of certain people have converted, use your power to destroy yourself.
20. Every evil effect of preaching the word of God to certain people, or community, be cancelled by the blood of Jesus. I apply the blood of Jesus upon my life. I am unshakeable!
