MESSAGE: EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: May 30, 2026 – The Power of Speaking Positive Words
Words are powerful. What you say consistently can influence your life positively or negatively. Many people do not realize that their tongue can either build or destroy, encourage or discourage, heal or wound, bless or curse.
God created the world through words. He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. This shows that our words carry spiritual force. As children of God created in His image, our words also carry power.
Many people speak negatively every day without realizing the damage they are causing to themselves. Some constantly say, “Nothing works for me,” “The bad dream will likely come to pass,” “I don’t think this person will help me,” “My life is useless,” or “Things are getting worse.”
Negative words invite fear, discouragement, hopelessness, and spiritual weakness. Others speak faith, hope, and victory. Eventually, words begin to shape the atmosphere around a person. What comes out of your mouth matters greatly because the mouth reveals what is inside the heart. The Bible says, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
Our mouth is like an altar. An altar is a place where spiritual transactions take place. Every time you speak, you are making declarations. Your words can either work in your favour or against you. If your heart is filled with anger, bitterness, envy, fear, or unbelief, your mouth will eventually speak it.
But if your heart is filled with the Word of God, faith, peace, and wisdom, your speech will reflect it. The Bible says by their fruit, you shall know them. That is why believers must guard their hearts carefully.
The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 that death and life are in the power of the tongue. This means your mouth can invite life into situations, or it can invite negativity and destruction. Many people are where they are today simply because of the words they constantly speak over themselves.
Many homes today are damaged because of harsh and negative speech. Some parents constantly speak insult over their children, in-laws, friends etc. Some couples speak words that wound each other deeply. Some people cannot encourage others because their mouth is already filled with bitterness and negativity.
A person cannot continually speak failure and expect success. You cannot constantly speak poverty and expect abundance. You cannot continually confess fear and expect boldness. Your mouth must agree with God’s promises concerning your life. Positive words are not mere motivational speeches.
Positive words rooted in faith and God’s Word release spiritual strength, hope, courage, healing, and divine possibilities. Speak words that will quick answer to your prayers. Speak positively over your destiny every day. Declare: “I shall succeed.” “I shall not fail.” “God is with me.” “My prayers shall be answered.” “My tomorrow shall be better.” “I will fulfil my destiny.”
When your heart is filled with God’s Word, your speech will begin to change naturally. The more you study the Bible, pray, and walk with God, the more your mouth will reflect heaven instead of fear, anger, or negativity.
Ask God daily to sanctify your tongue. Pray that your words will not destroy your destiny or hurt others unnecessarily. Let your mouth become a source of encouragement, wisdom, healing, and faith.
Prophetic Declaration
I decree today that my tongue shall speak life and not death. My mouth shall not speak defeat, failure, fear, or hopelessness. I receive grace to speak according to God’s promises. Every negative word working against my destiny is cancelled. My words shall carry faith, encouragement, healing, wisdom, and divine favor. From today, my tongue shall align with the Word of God, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Key Lessons For Today
- Your words can either build your destiny or weaken it.
- Negative confession creates an atmosphere of fear, discouragement, and doubt.
- Faith-filled words strengthen the spirit and attract peace, hope and courage.
- The tongue should be used to bless, encourage, heal, and uplift others.
- What you repeatedly say can influence your thoughts, attitude, and actions.
- Speaking positively does not mean denying problems; it means trusting God above the problems.
- Encouraging words can help heal people who are discouraged or broken.
- A believer must learn to control the tongue through wisdom and the help of the Holy Spirit.
Wisdom For Today:
“Never use your mouth to destroy the future you are praying for.”

“Words are like eggs; once broken, they cannot be gathered again.”
Closing Reflection
Many battles begin with negative thinking and negative speaking. Your tongue is powerful, and your words influence your spiritual atmosphere, emotions, relationships, and faith. Learn to speak carefully. Speak life when others speak defeat. Speak faith when fear arises. Speak God’s promises when challenges appear.
Let your words reflect trust in God rather than surrender to discouragement. Remember, what fills your heart will eventually come out of your mouth. Therefore, fill your heart with God’s Word, and your speech will begin to produce peace, faith, hope, and victory.
