EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: June 21, 2026 – Why Do You Need Deliverance
Many people hear the word “deliverance” and immediately think that it only applies to people who are demonically possessed. They thought deliverance is for the wicked people who are trying to get delivered. However, deliverance is much broader than that. Deliverance is God’s move or intervention to rescue a person from every form of bondage, sin, captivity, oppression, limitation, and satanic control.
Many people needs deliverance. There are challenges that happen to us but only God can deliver us. Some people are struggling with battles they cannot explain. There are people who simply don’t understand their life. Some are facing constant attacks back to back. Some would just wake up from a dream and they will start misbehaving.
Many have reported cases of moving objects in their body. Some are living dead; some people’s destiny has been withdrawn from them long time ago without them knowing. When someone has been afflicted with the yoke of darkness, they cannot think well. When you go to bed at night, you cannot sleep or having a peaceful revelation.
If you sleep at all, one may eventually be distracted by useless dreams. If you manage to pray before you sleep, one may begin to lose confidence in his prayer. If you feel your life is under the control and manipulation by darkness, you need deliverance. Until the right deliverance is carried out, certain problem will thought it’s minor may not leave soon.
People who have good plans for what to do in life but the moment money enters their hands, that good plans disappear. You see some people looking good physically but spiritually, the person is gone. It is sad that many believers have become paralyzed due to their inability to overcome their major problems. They have tried to solve one problem, within a short time, another battle resurfaces.
These things are signs that you need deliverance. Our Lord Jesus is a great deliverer. He came to this world to set the captives free and to break every yoke of the enemy. There is nothing difficult for God to do. If He choose today as your season of deliverance, then your deliverance has come. God never intended us to remain in bondage. Once He delivers a person, the person is free indeed.
But before deliverance comes, you must know the source of that battle in your life. It could be as a result of your sin, mistake, faulty foundation, parental sin, relationship or environmental factors. When you know where the problems are coming from, you will know how to fight them. For example, if you notice that attack is risen against as a result of the covenant with the water demons, you will need serious prayers to break out from their stronghold.
One of the greatest forms of deliverance is deliverance from sin. Sin is one of the most destructive forms of bondage because it separates people from God and opens doors to further problems. It kills the glory of a person faster It complicates more problems for a person. Many people are searching for freedom from their enemies while ignoring the sin that continue to weaken them spiritually.
True deliverance begins when a person fully surrenders his life to Jesus Christ and allows the Holy Spirit to take control. Many people think deliverance is only for unbelievers. Everyone needs deliverance. We need deliverance from sin, deliverance from stagantion, deliverance from lust, deliverance from fear, deliverance from bad foundation, deliverance from wrong relationship etc.
So you can see that deliverance is very wide. If you say you don’t need deliverance, you are deceiving yourself. If you say deliverance is for those who are demons, you are not correct. As long as you are a sinner, you need the hand of God to deliver you. Many people needs deliverance in life. Many do not know even know how the battle have continue to trouble them.
Some are dealing with negative family patterns that have refused to leave them alone. Others notice that the same problems affecting their parents, grandparents, or relatives are now appearing in their own lives. These strong bad patterns may include chronic failure, marital problems, addictions, poverty, untimely deaths, recurring sicknesses, or other forms of bondage.
The enemy’s greatest desire is to keep people in captivity. He wants them to believe that their situation can never change. He wants them to keep fighting the wrong battles. He wants them to accept bondage as normal. He wants them to become comfortable with defeat or a particular lifestyle. But God’s message has always been different. God’s message is freedom. God’s message is restoration. God’s message is victory.
Deliverance becomes necessary when a person discovers that there are invisible forces constantly opposing his progress and preventing him from enjoying the fullness of God’s blessings. Deliverance is necessary when a person keep having negative dreams. There are people whose efforts, potentials, opportunities, and greatness have been restricted by powers operating from negative foundations, family patterns, or long-standing spiritual battles.
No matter how hard they try, they keep encountering unusual resistance at critical moments of their lives. Some have tried repeatedly to get married, but each time marriage draws near, something happens to scatter the relationship. Others have worked tirelessly to build a house, establish a business, or achieve a major goal, but unexpected setbacks continually arise to frustrate their efforts.
Some have attempted to break free from stagnation and move to a higher level, but every attempt to receive their freedom proved abortive. They rise, only to fall again. They move forward, only to be pulled backward again. In many cases, these people are not lazy, careless, or irresponsible. They are hardworking, prayerful, and determined to fulfil purpose.
Some would say this life did not favour them. Some would say this life is luck. You have the power to command how you want life to operate in your life. If you want life to favour you, you have to keep declaring it. If you want life to present good opportunities to you, you have to declare it as well. Remember whatever we say has a way of controlling our life directly or indirectly.
The good news is that no limitation or curse is stronger than God’s power. No chain is too strong for Him to break to pieces. No barrier is too difficult for Him to remove. When God steps into a situation, every opposition and powers must bow. What people in the family could not stop on their own, God can restore within a minute. It doesn’t matter how long people have been stagnated, but what matter is, God has remembered you.
One of the greatest mistakes people are making is waiting until their problems become severe or tough before seeking deliverance. Many people ignore the warning signs of danger for years. They notice strange patterns in their lives but dismiss them. They see recurring disappointments but assume things will somehow improve on their own.
They experience unusual battles but continue to endure them silently. They have repeated bad dreams but they ignore it. Over time, what started as a small problem grows into a major stronghold. The truth is that God does not want His children to become comfortable with bondage. Many people have suffered under certain conditions for so long that they now consider them normal in their life.
They have adjusted their lives around their problems instead of confronting them through prayer and fasting or by going for deliverance. They have accepted defeat in areas where God desires to give them a lasting victory. There are people who have never experienced lasting peace. Since childhood, they have moved from one battle to another. If it is not sickness, it is disappointment. If it is not disappointment, it is fear.
If it is not fear, it is failure. If it is not failure, it is family problems. Their lives seem to be surrounded by constant struggles. Such people should not simply accept these things as their destiny. God did not create His children to live permanently under oppression. Many people need deliverance because the enemy has succeeded in planting lies in their minds. He tells them they will never succeed.
He tells them they will never marry. He tells them they will never prosper. He tells them they will never be free from their problems. After hearing these lies repeatedly, some people begin to believe them. Their confidence and faith begins to disappears. One of the first things God often delivers a person from is a defeated mindset. Before Israel entered the Promised Land, they had to overcome the mentality of slavery.
Before many people can walk in victory, they must first stop believing the lies that have held them captive for years. This is why every believer should regularly examine his life and ask God to reveal the areas where deliverance is needed. Sometimes the bondage can be obvious. Sometimes it can be hidden. Sometimes it can be spiritual. Sometimes the problem can be emotional.
Sometimes it is due to bad habit, an attitude, a fear, or a recurring struggle. Whatever the form might be, God has the power to bring total freedom. Another sign that deliverance may be necessary is when a person repeatedly finds himself doing things he genuinely wants to stop. He hates the habit. He regrets the behavior. He promises to change. Yet he continually finds himself returning to the same bondage.
Such a person needs deliverance. Some people want freedom from the consequences of bondage without surrendering the bondage itself. They want God to remove the pain but not the cause. They want victory without repentance. They want deliverance without obedience. But God is calling us to cooperate with Him. Never become comfortable with what Jesus died to set you free from.
Never accept any problem as permanent in your life to what God has the power to change. Never stop believing in God’s ability to intervene in your life. The God who opened the prison doors for Peter can still open your prison doors today. The God who delivered the children of Isreal can still deliver you today.
No matter how long the battle has lasted in your life, no matter how deep the bondage may seem, and no matter how impossible the situation appears, God still has the final say. One touch from Him can change everything. One encounter with His power can break the years of captivity within a day.
One moment of divine intervention can turn a lifetime of bondage into a testimony of freedom. That is why deliverance remains necessary. God wants His people free from these embarrasing situation. Deliverance begins when a person acknowledges his need for God’s help. It continues through prayer, worship, faith, repentance, and submission to God’s Word.
The more a believer draws closer to God, the stronger he becomes spiritually. The closer he walks with God, the more difficult it becomes for the enemy to maintain his hold over his life. The purpose of deliverance is not simply to make life easier. It is to enable a person to serve God freely, fulfill divine purpose, and enjoy the abundant life that Christ has promised us.
When a person is truly free, he can pursue God’s calling without unnecessary limitations. He can worship God without fear. He can pray with confidence. He can move forward without invisible chains holding him back. This is why deliverance is ultimately about salvation. It is not only about what God removes from a person’s life; it is also about what He has restored.
When God delivers a person, He restores his lost peace completely. He restores his lost opportunities. He restores his lost salvation. He restores his lost joy. He restores his lost relationships. Many people are asking God for blessings when what they first need is deliverance. They are asking God to build on a foundation that is still currently under attack.
They are asking God for increase while the enemy is still creating leaks in their lives. Before God establishes certain blessings in our life, He first deals with the forces fighting those blessings. Another reason people need deliverance is because of spiritual oppression and attacks.
The enemy attacks people in different ways. Sometimes the attack comes through fear, confusion, depression, tormenting dreams, uncontrollable anger, addictions, or destructive habits. A person may genuinely desire freedom and still find himself trapped in cycles he cannot break through his efforts. Jesus encountered many people during His earthly ministry who needed deliverance.
Some were oppressed by evil spirits. Some were bound by sickness. Some were held captive by fear and torment. In every situation, Jesus demonstrated God’s desire to set people free. Some people needs deliverance because their lives are controlled by fear. Fear controls their decisions, their relationships, their opportunities, and their future.
They are afraid of failure, afraid of success, afraid of the future, afraid of taking steps of faith. The enemy understands that a fearful believer will struggle to maximize his God-given potential. Before God can move some people forward, He must first deliver them from the spirit of fear. A person can dress well, speak well, and appear successful, but the person is still fighting serious spiritual battles in secret.
There are people who have become experts at hiding their pain. They have learned how to look happy while carrying heavy burdens. They show kindness to others and solve other people’s issues but deep within their hearts they know something is going wrong with them. They know they are not enjoying the peace, freedom, and progress that God has intended for them.
There are also people who need deliverance from bitterness and unforgiveness. They were hurt by people they trusted. They experienced betrayal, disappointment, and pain. After many years, the wounds still remain fresh. They think about the incident constantly. They struggle to make progress. They struggle to trust again. What began as a painful experience has become a prison of bitterness.
Until they are delivered from that prison, they will find it difficult to enjoy true peace. Some people need deliverance from destructive habits and secret sins. They know those habits are damaging their life and destiny. They have promised God many times that they would stop those habits. But yet they still find themselves returning to the same behavior repeatedly.
They are tired of repeating the same mistakes. What they need now is not condemnation but God’s power to set them free. You need deliverance when there are stubborn battles that refuse to go away despite prayers, efforts, and good intentions. There are people who keep experiencing the same negative cycle year after year. They rise and fall repeatedly. They start well but never finish well.
They move forward only to be pushed backward again. Whenever a person notices a recurring pattern of defeat, he should seek God’s face seriously concerning his deliverance. Some people need deliverance because of certain covenants and foundations they know nothing about. Before they were born, certain activities may have taken place in their family lineage.
Some families were dedicated to idols and their spirits have been to that altars for years. Some entered ungodly covenants. Some were involved in practices that opened doors to spiritual bondage. Although a person may not have been aware or participated directly, the effects can sometimes continue across generations until they are broken by the power of God.
This is one reason Jesus came. He came not only to forgive sins but also to destroy the works of the devil. Wherever Jesus went, He confronted oppression. He healed the sick, delivered the oppressed, restored the broken, and brought hope to the hopeless. His ministry demonstrated that God does not delight in seeing His children suffer under satanic captivity.
There are people who are physically free but spiritually imprisoned. They can move around, work, and interact with others, yet invisible chains are limiting their progress. Some are bound by fear. Some are bound by lust. Some are bound by anger. Some are bound by addictions. Others are bound by repeated disappointments and unexplained hardships. These invisible chains can be just as destructive as physical chains.
Deliverance is not for a selected group of people; it is for anyone who desires freedom from every form of bondage, oppression, captivity, and limitation. Whether the battle is spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical, God’s desire is for His children to live in liberty and victory.
If there is any area of your life where you are experiencing captivity, oppression, fear, stagnation, repeated failure, addiction, spiritual attacks, or any form of bondage, do not lose hope. Take your case to God. Cry unto Him in prayer. Seek His face sincerely. Trust His power completely. The same Jesus who delivered people in the Bible is still delivering people today.
No matter how long a battle has lasted, never believe the lie that it can never end. No matter how strong the oppression may seem, never believe the lie that freedom is impossible. God’s power is greater than every curse, every bondage, every limitation, every captivity, and every satanic attack.
The same God who delivered people yesterday is still delivering people today. He is able to break every chain, remove every yoke, destroy every prison, and restore every area of life that has been damaged by the enemy. Your situation is not beyond His power. Your bondage is not beyond His reach. Your deliverance is possible because Jesus Christ is still the Great Deliverer.
Prophetic Declaration
I decree that every chain, yoke, burden, and captivity operating against your life shall be broken by the power of God. Every area where the enemy has oppressed, limited, or hindered you shall receive divine intervention. May the Lord restore your peace, joy, purpose, and freedom. You shall walk in victory and possess all that God has prepared for you, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Daily Reflection
Today, take time to examine your life and identify areas where you need God’s intervention. Do not hide your struggles or sin from God or pretend everything is fine when you know there are battles beyond your strength. Bring every burden before Him in prayer and trust Him to do what no man can do. Remember, deliverance begins when a person acknowledges his sin and cry out for his salvation.
