Praying For Those Facing Health Problems – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: October 29, 2026
Beloved, have you ever felt the pain of sickness in your body? Have you ever sat in a hospital waiting room, holding your breath as the doctor opened a medical report? Whether the sickness is big or small, it is not the portion of God’s children.
The Bible tells us plainly how “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil” (Acts 10:38). Sickness is an oppressor. It comes to steal our joy, rob our peace, and break our mind.
As I write this, someone is lying on a hospital bed, crying to God for another chance to live a healthy life. Someone is waiting for test results, hoping to hear the words “it is good news.”
Another person has battled the same sickness for months, even years, and is tired of tablets, injections, and endless appointments. There are people who cannot sleep at night because of pain.
Some have emptied their savings on treatment. Some have sold land, cars, and property to pay hospital bills. Others cannot even afford the drugs on their prescription.
There are people who cannot sleep comfortably at night because of pain. They turn from side to side until morning. Like Job, they say, “When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day” (Job 7:4).
And some are struggling every day to afford the medication the doctor has prescribed. They have the prescription in their hand, but not the money in their pocket.
Like the woman with the issue of blood, many “have suffered many things of many physicians, and have spent all that they had, and were nothing bettered, but rather grew worse” (Mark 5:26).
Sickness has consumed resources that should have been used to educate their children, build homes, start businesses and fulfil their dreams.
Someone else is waiting for test results. Every time the doctor comes around, their heart jumps. They have not eaten well in days. They are hoping and praying to hear, “It is negative. You are fine.”
Another person has carried the same sickness for months, even years. They have tried hospital after hospital, herb after herb, prayer meeting after prayer meeting, and they are tired.
When you are healthy, it is easy to forget the pain of those who are not. But hear me: sickness does not respect size, title, or bank account. A small illness can bring a great man to a standstill.
Something hidden in the body can stop a career, empty an account, and change a family’s whole story. The person smiling beside you in church may be fighting a battle you know nothing about.
The brother who stands in the gap for you in prayer may be living with one kidney. The sister who looks strong may be quietly managing a condition that wakes her up at night.
Someone who has lived a healthy life for years may suddenly receive a report about the lungs, the liver, or the heart, and their whole world shakes.
That is why the Scripture says, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Jesus said, “I was sick, and ye visited me” (Matthew 25:36). Check on people. Call them. Love them. Pray for them.
Your prayer may be the very thing God uses to turn their situation around. You may not have the money to pay someone’s hospital bill. You may not have the medical knowledge to treat their condition.
But you are not helpless. You can pray. You can encourage. You can visit. You can send a message that says, “I am standing with you.” You can share a meal, run an errand, or contribute what little you have. Whatever is within your power, do it.
Sickness does not only attack the body. It touches the emotions, strains relationships, disrupts work, and drains finances. A sick person needs more than medicine; they need hope, and they need to know they are not forgotten.
And let me say this with balance: going to the hospital is not a lack of faith. God gave wisdom to doctors and nurses, and He can work through them. Luke, who wrote two books of our Bible, was a physician.
So take your medication, follow your doctor’s counsel, and keep your faith alive, because the final report belongs to the Lord. “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD” (Jeremiah 30:17).
God is not pleased when His children are dying of sickness. His desire is clear: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2).
The price for our healing has already been paid: “With his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
The Bible says, “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body” (Hebrews 13:3).
In other words, remember those who are suffering as if you were in their position, because you also live in a human body. What is happening to them could happen to anyone.
And beloved, you may not know what the person beside you is carrying. The colleague who looks strong and cheerful may be managing a chronic condition in silence. The brother or sister standing with you in church may be living with only one kidney.
The friend who always smiles may be going to the hospital every week for treatment. The person who serves faithfully in ministry may be battling pain that nobody knows about.
That is why the Bible encourages us, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others” (Philippians 2:4). Check on people. Ask how they are really doing.
Love them, and pray for them. Your phone call, your visit and your prayer may be exactly what someone needs to keep going.
“And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26). We are one body. When one part of the body is sick, the rest of the body must rise to help.
So, as children of God, we must rise and stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters battling one ailment or another. “The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up” (James 5:15).
Let us pray for those in hospital beds, for those waiting on results, for those in long-term pain, and for those who cannot afford their bills. Let us pray until testimonies flow.
Beloved, you may not have enough money to pay someone’s hospital bills. You may not have the medical knowledge to treat their condition. You may not be a doctor, a nurse or a pharmacist. But you can pray.
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). Your prayer can reach places your money cannot reach. Your prayer can touch what medicine cannot touch.
When the paralysed man could not get to Jesus, four friends carried him and broke through the roof, and “when Jesus saw their faith,” He healed the man (Mark 2:5). It was the faith of others that brought the miracle.
Someone you know may be depending on your prayer, even if they do not know it. When Peter was in prison, the church prayed without ceasing, and God sent an angel to deliver him.
When Dorcas died, the disciples sent for Peter, and through prayer she was raised to life (Acts 9:36–41). Do not underestimate what God can do through your prayer.
But beloved, let our love not end with prayer. Pray for them, encourage them, and offer whatever practical support is within your ability.
Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan. He found a man wounded on the road, bandaged his wounds, poured in oil and wine, put him on his own animal and took him to an inn.
Then he gave the innkeeper money and said, “Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee” (Luke 10:35). The Samaritan did not only feel sorry for the man; he paid for his care.
The early church cared for one another so well that “neither was there any among them that lacked” (Acts 4:34). The Bible instructs, “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it” (Proverbs 3:27).
You may not be able to pay the whole bill, but you can contribute something. You may be able to buy one prescription. You may be able to provide a meal, transport to the hospital or help with household chores.
You may be able to sit with them so their family can rest. You may be able to connect them with someone who can help. Every little act of kindness matters.
And God promises a blessing to those who care for the weak: “Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth…
The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness” (Psalm 41:1–3). When you care for the sick, God will remember you in your own time of need.
Beloved, as children of God, we must rise up and stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters who are battling one sickness or another. Let us pray for those on hospital beds and those at home.
Let us pray for those waiting for test results and those facing surgery. Let us pray for those who have been sick for years and those who received shocking news this week. Let us pray for those who have lost hope and those whose families are exhausted.
And let us especially remember those who cannot afford treatment. Many are suffering not because there is no cure, but because they cannot pay for it. Let us pray for them, and where we can, let us help them.
Let us ask God to raise helpers, open doors and provide for every sick person who is struggling to pay their bills. Jesus “was moved with compassion” when He saw the multitudes (Matthew 9:36). Let that same compassion move in us.
MINISTRATION
Beloved, let us pray together right now for those facing health problems.
Father, in the name of Jesus, we lift up before You every person lying on a hospital bed today. Touch them with Your healing hand. Let Your power flow through every ward and every room. Strengthen the weak, comfort the afraid and give peace to those who cannot sleep.
I decree in the name of Jesus: every hospital bed occupied by a child of God shall become a place of divine visitation.
As the Lord strengthened the sick upon the bed of languishing, He is strengthening you now. As Jesus stood over Peter’s mother-in-law and rebuked the fever, He is standing over you and rebuking every affliction.
You shall not remain on that bed; you shall rise up, take up your bed and walk out testifying of the goodness of God.
Every bed of affliction becomes a bed of restoration. Every ward of sorrow becomes a ward of testimony. Every drip line, every injection and every medication administered to you shall carry the healing virtue of God.
The same hand that touched the leper is touching you now, and you shall be made whole, in the name of Jesus. We pray for everyone waiting for medical results. Let the reports bring good news.
Where the report is bad, Lord, as You turned Hezekiah’s report around, turn their situation around. Add years to their lives, in the name of Jesus.
We pray for those who have been sick for a long time. Every affliction that has refused to go, bow to the name of Jesus. Every sickness that has consumed resources, joy and peace, be broken. Every pain that keeps people awake at night, be rebuked, in the name of Jesus.
We pray for those who have spent all their savings, sold their properties and borrowed money for treatment. Lord, restore everything that sickness has taken from them.
Provide for every person who cannot afford their medication. Raise up Good Samaritans for them. Open doors of help and supply, in the name of Jesus.
We pray for those suffering silently, people who look strong outside but are carrying sickness inside. Lord, You see them; heal them and strengthen them.
We pray for every doctor, nurse and health worker. Give them wisdom, skill and compassion. Let every diagnosis be accurate and every treatment effective.
Lord, make us more compassionate. Help us not to forget the sick when we are healthy. Help us to check on people, to visit, to give and to pray.
Every sickness from the pit of hell attacking Your children, be destroyed by the fire of the Holy Ghost. By the stripes of Jesus, Your people are healed. They shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
I speak to every medical report that has brought fear into your heart: you are not the final word. The report of the Lord is the final word. As God reversed the report of death over Hezekiah and added fifteen years to his life, every negative report over your life is reversed by the power of God.
Every result that says “positive” for sickness shall become negative. Every scan that shows abnormality shall show normal. Every growth that should not be there, dry up from the root.
Every count that is too low, rise to normal. Every count that is too high, come down to normal. Every organ that has been declared damaged, receive creative restoration.
Doctors shall look at your next result and say, “We do not understand what happened.” And you shall answer, “The Lord has done it, and it is marvellous in our eyes.”
For every person waiting for results this week: your report shall bring good news. Fear shall not grip your heart. You shall hear the good report, in the mighty name of Jesus.
To every person who has carried sickness for months or years, hear the word of the Lord: your time of release has come. As Jesus loosed the woman bound for eighteen years, I decree that you are loosed from your infirmity.
As the man at Bethesda rose after thirty eight years, you shall rise. As the woman with the issue of blood was healed after twelve years, your long season of suffering ends today.
Every sickness that has refused treatment, refuse no longer. Every condition that doctors have called “manageable but not curable,” receive the touch of the One with whom nothing is impossible. What you have managed for years, God is ending now. Affliction shall not rise up the second time, in the name of Jesus.
OVER SILENT AND HIDDEN SICKNESS
Every sickness hiding silently in the bodies of God’s children, be exposed and destroyed. Every disease growing quietly without symptoms, be discovered early and dealt with by the power of God. Every stranger devouring strength without the person knowing it, be arrested by fire.
To those who look healthy but are battling quietly: God sees you. You are not forgotten. Your hidden struggle is known in heaven, and your hidden healing is on its way, in the name of Jesus.
OVER SUDDEN SICKNESS
Every arrow of sudden sickness, go back to your sender. Every sudden collapse planned against any child of God, be cancelled. Every sudden diagnosis that came like a thunderbolt, be met with a sudden miracle. As the Shunammite’s son was restored, every life under sudden attack shall be restored. It shall be well, in the name of Jesus.
OVER CHILDREN
I declare over every sick child: you shall not die young. The God who raised the daughter of Jairus is raising you up. The God who healed the nobleman’s son at a distance is healing you now. Every sickness attacking children in hospital wards, be rebuked. Every child born with a condition, receive divine restoration. Every parent sitting beside a sick child’s bed, receive strength, peace and a testimony. Your child shall run, play and fulfil destiny, in the name of Jesus.
OVER THE ELDERLY
I declare over every elderly person battling sickness: your strength shall be renewed like the eagle’s. As Moses’ eye was not dim nor his natural force abated, so shall it be with you. As Caleb was strong at eighty five, you shall be strong in your old age. You shall still bring forth fruit in old age; you shall be fat and flourishing. Your latter years shall be peaceful, healthy and full of joy, in the name of Jesus.
OVER THE MIND AND EMOTIONS
Every fear that has entered the hearts of the sick, be cast out by the perfect love of God. Every anxiety, every panic and every sleepless night caused by sickness, be replaced with the peace of God that passes all understanding. Every spirit of heaviness, I exchange you for the garment of praise.
To every person whose mental health has been affected by sickness: God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind. Your mind shall be stable, your emotions shall be healed and your heart shall be at rest, in the name of Jesus.
OVER FINANCES DRAINED BY SICKNESS
I speak to every pocket emptied by hospital bills: be refilled. Every savings account drained by treatment, be restored. Every property sold to pay for medication, God shall restore to you better than before. Every debt incurred because of sickness, be cleared by divine provision.
To every person holding a prescription but unable to buy the medicine: help is coming. God is raising Good Samaritans for you. Doors of provision are opening. Strangers shall pay bills on your behalf. Hospitals shall show you favour. You shall not die because of lack of money, in the name of Jesus.
OVER CAREGIVERS AND FAMILIES
I declare strength over every caregiver. You who have been sitting by hospital beds, cooking, cleaning, running errands and losing sleep: the Lord renews your strength. You shall run and not be weary; you shall walk and not faint. Your labour of love is not in vain, and God shall reward you openly.
Every family disturbed by sickness, receive peace. Every marriage strained by sickness, receive renewed love. Every child worried about a sick parent, receive comfort. Your home shall be filled again with laughter, in the name of Jesus.
OVER DOCTORS, NURSES AND HOSPITALS
I declare wisdom upon every doctor treating God’s children. Let them diagnose accurately, prescribe correctly and operate successfully. Every nurse, receive compassion and strength. Every surgeon’s hand shall be guided by the hand of God. Every error in treatment shall be prevented. Every hospital where a child of God is admitted shall become a place where God’s glory is seen, in the name of Jesus.
OVER THOSE FACING DEATH
To every person who has been told there is nothing more that can be done: the last word belongs to God. I declare, “Thou shalt not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” Every spirit of death hovering over hospital beds, be rebuked and depart. Every life hanging between life and death, be pulled back into life by the power of the resurrection.
And for every believer, whatever happens, I declare that you are held in the hands of God. Nothing can separate you from His love. Fear shall not torment you. His peace shall guard your heart, and His presence shall surround you, in the name of Jesus.
OVER THE BODY OF CHRIST
I declare that the church shall rise in compassion. We shall not forget the sick when we are healthy. We shall check on one another, visit one another, give to one another and pray for one another. The ministry of healing shall be restored in the church. Elders shall pray, oil shall be poured, hands shall be laid on the sick, and the sick shall recover, in the name of Jesus.
OVER THE NATION
I speak over our nation: let healing flow across the land. Let hospitals be equipped, let medicines be affordable and let health workers be rewarded. Let every epidemic be stopped, every plague be checked and every disease that has killed our people be brought to an end. Let the Lord heal our land, in the name of Jesus.
FINAL DECLARATION: SAY IT ALOUD
Beloved, lift your hands and declare with me:
“I declare that sickness is not my portion. By the stripes of Jesus, I am healed. Every organ in my body functions as God designed. Every evil report over my life is reversed. Every sickness in my family is broken. Every resource sickness has taken from me is restored. My mind is sound, my heart is at peace and my body is strong.
“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Affliction shall not rise up the second time. I am healed, I am whole, and I am free.
“And I declare that I will not forget those who are suffering. I will pray for them, visit them, help them and love them. I will be a carrier of healing and hope wherever I go.
“In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen!”
Beloved, receive it, believe it and begin to thank God for your healing and the healing of those you love. Continue every treatment your doctor has given, keep standing on the Word of God and watch the Lord do what only He can do.
