There is a strong spirit operating in many villages today. They are there for one purpose alone, to spoil and to attack glorious destinies. These village powers carry many faces, ancestral spirits, wicked spirits, marine spirits, demonic spirits, but they all answer to one headquarters, the village shrine.

The question is, who established these powers in the first place? It was our forefathers, who did not know Christ. They thought they were building protection for their own children, they thought they were securing their lineage, but instead of protection, they built a prison. Instead of covering, they opened the door for more havoc to visit their own bloodline.

Some of these powers will not just delay you, church, they will terminate your life outright if you don’t know what to do, if you don’t know how to fight back in the spirit. Many people today are tied down spiritually in their own villages, and they don’t even know it.

Some people, no matter how far they run, no matter how many degrees they gather, no matter how many countries they enter, can never truly prosper until they go back to that village to settle certain matters, to see certain people. That is bondage.

Some destinies have been truncated, cut short, cut down before they could ever reach the height that God ordained for them. Others have died untimely, before their time, and nobody, not the doctor, not the family, could explain why.

Beloved, some villages have become nothing less than a command center for darkness, a control room where every kind of wicked operation is planned and executed against the sons and daughters of that soil.

These village powers know your father’s house. They know your mother’s house. They know your lineage down to the last name. And they use that information to cage destinies, that is their assignment, that is their job, to hold people down and make sure nobody rises above the level the village has fixed for them.

They keep a spiritual database, a spiritual record of every son and every daughter of that village, whether you are living at home or you have traveled abroad, whether you are in Lagos, in London, or in America, it does not matter to them.

Because they hold your record in their file, they can still reach you, they can still manipulate your life from a distance. Distance is not a barrier to a village power.

That is why somebody can be sitting comfortably in America, doing well on paper, yet something invisible is still holding him down, and when you trace that thing to its root, it leads back to that village, to that shrine, to that ancestral file where his name was written many years ago.

And when a village power holds your file, church, they don’t just keep it quietly on a shelf, they consult it regularly. Every festival season, every new yam festival, every masquerade outing, every gathering of the elders in the spirit realm, they bring out that file and they discuss your case. They discuss your marriage.

They discuss your business. They discuss your children. While you are busy working hard, praying small prayers, hoping quietly that things will change, somewhere in that village, in a shrine you have never even set your eyes on, your name is on their agenda for that night. That is why the Bible says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

It is not that God has failed to give you power, it is that you don’t know what has been happening behind your back all this while. That is why some people labor like an elephant but eat like an ant. That is why some people are highly qualified, yet the promotion always passes them by.

That is why some marriages keep scattering right at the point of settling down. Somebody’s file is still sitting in the village. Somebody’s name is still written in a book that was opened by an ancestor who has long since died and gone, but the book did not die with him, the book is still open, and the meeting is still holding.

I want you to grab something powerful this morning. The day you gave your life to Jesus Christ, heaven opened a brand new file for you. Colossians 2 verse 14 tells us that God blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross.

That old file, that ancestral file, that village record carrying your name, Jesus already dealt with it at Calvary. So the question this morning is not whether the price has been paid, the price is fully paid, the question is whether you have personally, deliberately, and violently applied that blood to shut that evil file forever and step into the new one.

So every believer whose name is still being called up in a village meeting they know nothing about, we are closing that file right now. Every ancestral book with your name written in it, whether in blood or in ink, we are tearing out that page now, in the name of Jesus.

You did not sign that contract. Even if it was your own grandfather who signed it, you did not sign it, and greater is He that is in you than every elder sitting in that shrine tonight, discussing your file.

Every believer whose name is still being called in a village meeting they know nothing about, we are closing that file now. Every ancestral book with your name written in blood or in ink, we are tearing that page out now, in the name of Jesus.

You did not sign that contract. Even if your grandfather signed it, you did not sign it, and greater is He that is in you than every elder sitting in that shrine. A village power does not always attack immediately. Sometimes they wait. They wait for you to relax.

They wait for a weak moment, a moment of fear, a moment of compromise, a moment when you go for traditional marriage, a moment when you go home for a burial or a title-taking and you keep quiet instead of standing your ground for Christ. After that they begin their attacks.

That is why Ephesians 4:27 warns us, neither give place to the devil. Not “neither give a room to the devil,” not “neither give a house to the devil,” just a place, one small opening, is enough for him to work with.

I am charging you, stop giving them a place in your life. When you go to your village, go home as an ambassador of Christ, not as a returnee looking for peace and comfort.

Some people are still afraid to say no to certain family rituals because they don’t want to be called proud or you don’t want to be called the black sheep of the family. Its better to be called a black sheep by your family than to be a permanent tenant in a village power’s spiritual database. Let them talk. Stand your ground.

In Deuteronomy 28. Moses stood before Israel and said, if you will hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD, blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body. The LORD shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouses.

But watch the next part, the same chapter says, if you will not hearken, cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. Two files, two registers, one written by obedience to God, and one written by disobedience and idolatry.

Every village power operating today is simply managing the second file, the file of the curse, the file our forefathers signed onto when they turned away from the living God to serve wood and stone and river and shrine.

But hear me well, a curse without a cause cannot land, but a curse with an open legal file will chase a man from morning till night until somebody deals with the file.

This is why some families keep repeating the same tragedy every single generation. Somebody dies mysteriously in their thirties in that family, generation after generation. Somebody’s marriage scatters at exactly the same stage every single time.

It is not superstition, it is a file that has never been closed, an appointment that has never been cancelled, a signature that has never been revoked. But today, in this place, we are not managing the file anymore, we are burning the file.

Turn to Joshua chapter 24:15 with me, Joshua stood before all Israel and said, choose you this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served, or the gods of the Amorites, but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. That declaration is a legal declaration in the spirit realm.

The moment Joshua said it, he was not just making a personal decision, he was closing a generational door and opening a new covenant for his entire household. That is exactly what I need you to say today, not casually, but as a legal, binding, spiritual declaration, as for me and my house, village powers, hear me today, you have no more portion in us.

You are not bound to repeat what your ancestor did in ignorance. Ezekiel18 :20 says the soul that sinneth, it shall die, the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father. That means the legal system of heaven itself gives you the right to break away from an inherited curse the moment you come under the blood of Jesus.

You are not condemned to inherit that village file. You have a legal right, backed by the Word of God, to walk away clean. Village powers are evil, and I want you to understand something, if you must deal with them, you cannot deal with them in the flesh, you cannot deal with them with logic, you cannot deal with them with money, but you must deal with them spiritually through prayers.

Carnal weapons cannot defeat them. That is why the Bible tells us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. If you try to fight a village power with human strategy alone, you will lose, and sustain injuries.

These village powers have dealt with so many people, so many. And one of the reasons many believers keep dreaming about their village, night after night, is because of a covenant that was established with ancestral powers in their foundation.

Somebody is sleeping in Lagos, in London, in Houston, but every week their dreams keeps taking them back to that same village compound, that same family house, that same old woman who died years ago but keeps appearing.

That is not a random dream, but an ancestral covenant calling you home in the spirit, because your foundation was dedicated there, and until that covenant is dealt with by the blood of Jesus, the spirit realm will keep summoning you back to the very place your file is kept.

You will see someone the moment he travels to the village for one occasion, one naming ceremony, one wedding, everything looks fine, he looks strong, but by the time he travels back to the city, something has been taken from him without his awareness sometimes.

In that process, his joy is gone. His strength is gone. His shine is gone. His health is gone. Something was happening to him while he was there that he cannot even explain or discern immediately, but unfortunately, a transaction took place in the spirit against him.

Some will even attend a funeral in the village, an ordinary burial, paying their last respect to a relative, but by the time they come back to the city, the spirit of death has been established over their own life, over their own household, over their own business.

That is why I always say, don’t go to the village casually, don’t go there spiritually unprepared, cover yourself, cover your household, plead the blood before you step your foot on that soil, because funerals in some villages are not just burials, they are harvest seasons for wicked spirits.

Similarly, it is that same power that makes a man invests his hard-earned money by building his house, sponsoring events, funding one thing after another, yet he never sees anything success to show for it.

He builds a house where it has not been completed, and each time he tries to complete his house projects, it’s either he falls sick, his finances blocked or one emergency will divert his money.

I have seen this too. In some families, there is no love, no matter how much you preach love in that house, no matter how much you teach them about giving, about kindness, about unity, they will never receive it, they will never believe it, because they were never trained from the hand of love or giving.

That is why some families can sit at the same table, eat the same food, wear the same clothes, share the same blood, yet plot against one another in darkness. It is not as a hatred or “bad character,” beloved, it is an evil flow that was passed down at an altar to the household, and only the blood of Jesus can reset everything.

Beloved, that village power that gives you strange dreams, that drains your pocket, that installs trouble, that trains your relatives to hate instead of love, I have great news for you, that evil giant in your village is pulled dowm. Somebody shout, my foundation is not for sale to darkness anymore!

Let me show you something from the book of Job, chapter 1. When the Sabeans and the fire from heaven and the Chaldeans struck Job’s household one after another, one messenger did not even finish his report before another one came running in.

Calamity in some families does not come once and stop, it comes in waves, one bad news chasing another bad news, why? because there is an organized power behind it, dispatching one attack after another until the assignment is completed. That is exactly the pattern in some village-bound families.

It is never just one problem, it is problem after problem, sickness after sickness, death after death, because the power behind it is systematic, it is patient, and it does not stop on its own. It must be stopped by force, in the spirit.

Some of you have watched a brother who was doing so well suddenly start struggling the moment he built a house in the village. Some of you have watched a man who was flourishing suddenly begin to experience health problems after he took a chieftaincy title connected to his father’s compound.

These are not coincidences, beloved, these are transactions, spiritual transactions, that took place because a door was opened without covering, without prayer, without discernment.

This is why Hosea chapter 4 verse 6 says, my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Not lack of prayer altogether, not lack of church attendance, but lack of knowledge, lack of discernment about what is actually happening around them.

A man can be a choir leader, a man can be an usher, a man can even be on the ministers’ list, a man can be kind and still walk blindly into a village transaction because nobody taught him to be watchful, prayerful and nobody taught him to recognize the pattern.

So let me give you signs to watch for so you don’t fall into ignorance any longer. Watch when a particular kind of misfortune only happens after a village visit, that is a sign. Watch when a family keeps repeating the same tragedy at the same age or the same season year after year, that is a sign.

Watch when love genuinely cannot settle in a household no matter how much the gospel is preached there, that is a sign. Watch when your dreams are consistently pulling you back to a village compound, especially to a dead relative’s house, that is a sign.

These signs are not there to frighten you, they are there to activate the power of God in you into action so that instead of wondering why your life feels stuck, you can rise up and deal with the actual root.

Dealing with the root does not mean running away from your family or hating your village or your family members. God is not asking you to abandon your own people. He is asking you to be the one who breaks the chain tying down the family’s glory, just like Gideon in Judges chapter 6, when God told him to tear down his own father’s altar to Baal before he could be used to deliver Israel.

Gideon did not run from his father’s compound, he went right into it, at night, with fear and trembling yes, but he obeyed, and he tore down the very altar that had held his family in idolatry for years. That is your assignment too, beloved. You may be the Gideon of your bloodline.

You may be the one God has positioned, right now, in this generation, to tear down what your ancestors built in ignorance, the nonsense traditions that are affecting your family progress so that everyone coming after you can walk free.

Village powers are real, they are organized, they are patient, and they are wicked, but they are not almighty.  The moment the truth locates a man, the moment the blood of Jesus is applied deliberately and violently, every bad file closes, every altar falls, every nonsense dream about the village stops, every drainage of blessing is reversed.

You do not need to fear your village anymore, you do need to run away from that family battles, beloved, you need to confront it in the spirit. You do not need to hate your family because of what your ancestors did in ignorance, you need to stand as the Gideon that breaks the chain.

You do not need to keep wondering why love will not settle in your bloodline, why money doesn’t stay too long, why funerals turn into death sentences, you need to rise, name the altar, plead the blood, and shut the file permanently.

Remember, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Remember, the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, you have a legal right to walk in freedom and victory in Christ.

Remember, as for you and your house, you have already chosen to serve the Lord, and no shrine, no ancestral book, no elder’s meeting has any portion in you from today.

No matter how long a family has experienced a particular pattern, God is able to rewrite the story. He changed the story of Joseph from slavery to leadership. He changed the story of Ruth from widowhood to honour. He changed the story of Mephibosheth from rejection to restoration. The same God is still changing lives today.

What has existed for generations can come to an end when God’s power intervenes. Therefore, refuse to surrender your future to fear. Refuse to believe that your destiny is permanently tied to your background. The God who called Abraham out of his father’s house is still calling people into freedom today.

He is able to establish you, preserve you, and fulfil every purpose He has ordained for your life. If you remain in Christ, continue steadfast in prayer, and walk in obedience to His Word, every stronghold that exalts itself against God’s purpose for your life shall fall.

Every barrier shall give way. Every chain shall be broken. Every good promise the Lord has spoken concerning you shall come to pass, and you shall fulfil your God-given destiny to the glory of His name.

Prophetic Declaration

I declare over your life today that every stronghold of darkness assigned against your destiny is broken by the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every ancestral battle, every satanic opposition, and every evil pattern working against your progress shall come to an end, in the name of Jesus.

I decree that every power holding your destiny captive shall release you by fire. You shall no longer be delayed, hindered, or frustrated. Every evil gathering where your name is being mentioned for destruction shall be scattered by the thunder of God, in the name of Jesus.

Every evil ordinance, every negative record, every satanic accusation, and every handwriting contrary to your destiny is blotted out by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

I declare that every chain connecting you to affliction, failure, disappointment, poverty, stagnation, and untimely death is broken today, in the name of Jesus. The Lord shall arise and fight every battle you cannot fight for yourself.

Every hidden enemy assigned against your life shall be exposed and disgraced. I declare that your home, your marriage, your children, your career, your business, your ministry, and your health are covered by the blood of Jesus.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper. The power of the cross shall speak for you. The resurrection life of Christ shall silence every voice of condemnation and establish you in victory.

You shall not die before your appointed time. You shall not labour in vain. You shall not build for another to inhabit. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in, and you shall finish your race with joy.

I declare that from this day forward, every stronghold opposing your destiny is pulled down, every yoke is destroyed, and every chain is broken. You shall move forward by the power of the Holy Spirit, and the glory of God shall be evident in every area of your life. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Personal Challenge

Set aside at least 30 minutes today to pray specifically for your life, family, and future. Declare God’s promises over your destiny, reject every negative pattern that does not align with His Word, and thank Him for the victory you have in Christ. Choose to walk in faith, obedience, and holiness, remembering that your identity is found in Jesus not in your background, past, or family history.

Evangelism Challenge

Share the message of hope with someone who feels trapped by fear or their past. Encourage them to put their trust in Jesus Christ, who has the power to save, deliver, and give them a new life. Pray with them and remind them that true freedom is found in Christ alone.

Wisdom for Today

The altar that was built before you were born, and that still speaks over your life, cannot be silenced by your absence, only by your authority. Running from the village does not close the file, it only postpones the confrontation. But standing in Christ, and speaking to that altar by the blood of Jesus, ends it permanently.

6. Every spiritual database keeping my record in the village, be wiped clean by the blood of Jesus.

7. Every meeting of elders in the spirit realm scheduled to discuss my case, scatter in confusion before it begins.

8. Fire of God, locate and burn down every shrine spiritually connected to my bloodline.

9. Every name I bear that ties me to a village deity, be washed and changed by the blood of Jesus.

49. Every satanic timetable fixed for my destiny by village powers, be scattered and replaced with God’s own timing, in Jesus’ name.

50. I command every spirit of confusion sent to my mind whenever I think of my village affairs, to depart now, in Jesus’ name.

51. Every silent agreement my relatives are still making with darkness on my behalf, without my consent, I nullify it, in Jesus’ name.

52. Every village power assigned to swallow my seed and labor before it multiplies, be disgraced and made to disgorge, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT – NIGHT

1. Every generational battle line drawn against my family in the village, be erased by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ name.

2. I decree that no weapon fashioned against me from my village shall prosper, in Jesus’ name.

3. Every foundation laid in darkness before my birth, be relaid this day upon the Rock, Christ Jesus, in Jesus’ name.

4. Every witchcraft padlock fashioned to keep my breakthrough at the village level, be broken by fire, in Jesus’ name.

5. Every ancestral spirit parading itself as a “protector” of my family while causing havoc, be exposed and cast out, in Jesus’ name.

6. I command my body, soul, and spirit to reject every spiritual transaction from any village visit, past or future, in Jesus’ name.

7. Every evil deposit made into my life through a funeral, festival, or ceremony in the village, be flushed out now, in Jesus’ name.

8.  Let every hidden village power that has escaped previous prayers be exposed and dealt with today, in Jesus’ name.

9. I decree that my children and my children’s children shall never answer any village power’s summons, in Jesus’ name.

10. Every inheritance meant for my life that village powers have diverted, I recover it by fire, in Jesus’ name.

11. Every drum beaten in the village to summon my spirit man while I sleep, scatter into pieces, in Jesus’ name.

12. Every white cloth, red cloth, or black cloth spread on any altar in connection with my name, be set on fire, in Jesus’ name.

13. Every calabash, pot, or covenant object buried in my father’s compound bearing my identity, be exposed and destroyed by fire, in Jesus’ name.

14. Every voice crying out my name at any shrine tonight, be silenced by the blood of the Lamb, in Jesus’ name.

15. Every ancestral spirit assigned to appear to me in the form of a familiar relative, be unmasked and cast out, in Jesus’ name.

16. I command every satanic umbilical cord connecting my destiny to my village foundation to be cut by fire, in Jesus’ name.

17. Every power sitting on my glory, my breakthrough, or my open doors from the village, be roasted by the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’ name.

18. I recover every day, every year, every season the enemy has stolen from me through village manipulation, in Jesus’ name.

19. Every mark placed on any part of my body at birth for identification by village powers, be erased by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ name.

20. Every gathering of witches and wizards holding council over my family bloodline, be scattered by the thunder of God, in Jesus’ name.

21. I withdraw my name, my future, and my family completely from every satanic register in my village, in Jesus’ name.

22. Every power assigned to make me build and never enjoy, labor and never harvest, be dismantled today, in Jesus’ name.

23. Let the fire that fell on Mount Carmel in Elijah’s day fall now upon every altar working against my life, in Jesus’ name.

24. I decree that every village power that has killed and is planning to kill in my bloodline shall itself be terminated, in Jesus’ name.

25. Every foundation of poverty, shame, or premature death laid by my ancestors, be replaced with a foundation of glory, in Jesus’ name.
