The Storm Is Over – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: September 21, 2026

Beloved, storms are among the most difficult and unsettling experiences of life. A storm may suddenly arise in your marriage, health, finances, career, ministry or family, turning a peaceful season into a painful battle.

Some storms arrive without warning, while others continue for so long that you begin to wonder whether peace will ever return. Yet no matter how violent or prolonged the storm may appear, it cannot last forever.

The God who permitted you to enter the journey has the power to calm the wind, silence the waves and bring you safely to the other side.

A storm may represent anything that threatens your peace, drains your strength, creates fear or makes you question the promises of God.

It can be a troubling medical report, an unexpected financial crisis, the loss of employment, marital conflict, prolonged delay, rejection, betrayal or spiritual opposition.

During such seasons, it may appear as though everything you have built is about to collapse. Beloved, storms do not last forever. No matter how violent the wind may be, there comes a time when it must become calm.

No matter how long the night appears, morning will eventually come. The night may seem endless when you are passing through pain, disappointment or uncertainty, but darkness does not have the power to stop the arrival of a new day.

Psalm 30:5 says, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Beloved, do not allow what you are experiencing today to convince you that tomorrow cannot be different.

You may have cried for many nights, waited for many months or fought the same battle for years, but your present season does not have to become your permanent condition.

There is still life after the storm, hope after disappointment, healing after pain and another opportunity after failure. Keep trusting God and keep taking the right steps.

Sometimes change comes suddenly, while at other times it comes gradually. Either way, do not despise small signs of progress. The night may have been long, but it cannot remain forever. Your morning can still come.

You may have entered this season with tears, confusion, disappointment, financial pressure, sickness, family problems, relationship difficulties, business challenges, rejection, delay or uncertainty, but I have good news for you today: the storm will not continue forever.

Perhaps you have been asking, “Lord, when will this end?” You have prayed. You have fasted. You have cried. You have tried different solutions. You have encouraged yourself repeatedly, yet the situation appears stubborn.

Sometimes you wake up believing things will improve, only to receive another disappointing report. Beloved, do not conclude that because the storm has lasted longer than you expected, it will last forever.

When a storm continues for a long time, you may begin to assume that it will never end. Fear may tell you that your situation will only become worse. The devil may whisper that nobody will come to your help, while the silence of God may make you feel forgotten or abandoned.

When you have prayed repeatedly without seeing the change you expected, discouragement can easily enter your heart. However, no storm lasts forever. There is a time for the wind to cease, the rain to stop and peace to return.

The fact that the storm has lasted longer than you expected does not mean it will remain forever. Do not allow the length of your battle to convince you that victory is impossible.

There is a time when God says, “Peace, be still,” and what has troubled you for a long time begins to lose its power. Hold on to God, keep praying and do not surrender your hope. Your present storm does not have to become your permanent condition.

The disciples in Mark 4 experienced a violent storm while Jesus was right there in their boat. This teaches us something very important: the presence of a storm does not automatically mean the absence of God.

The same Jesus who was with the disciples is with you today. He has authority over every force troubling your life. The storm may be loud, frightening and overwhelming, but it is not greater than His voice.

You can be following God’s direction and still encounter difficult seasons. You can love God and still face trouble. You can pray faithfully and still receive an unpleasant report.

You can do the right thing and still experience disappointment. You can be walking in obedience and still encounter resistance along the way. Therefore, do not always interpret trouble as evidence that you have missed God. The storm does not have the final word; Jesus does.

Beloved, God’s silence is not evidence of His absence. Jesus was sleeping in the boat, but He had not abandoned the disciples. He was quiet, but He was still present. In the same way, heaven may appear silent concerning your situation, but God has not forgotten you.

He sees every tear, hears every prayer and understands the pressure you are facing. Isaiah 43:2 says, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee.”

Notice that God did not say you would never pass through the waters. He promised that He would be with you when you pass through them. This means the storm is something you are passing through, not necessarily where you will remain.

Never build your permanent expectations around a temporary season. The same God who has sustained you in the storm is able to bring you safely to the other side.

Notice that God did not promise that you would never pass through deep waters. He promised that the waters would not overcome you. Your storm may shake you, but it will not swallow you. The fire may test you, but it will not consume you.

The battle may last for a season, but it will not cancel God’s purpose for your life. Jesus arose and rebuked the wind. He said to the sea, “Peace, be still.” Immediately, the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

The same voice that created the heavens and the earth commanded the storm to stop. What human strength could not control, one word from Jesus settles everything. This is why you must never measure your situation only by its size; measure it by the greatness of your God.

Your problem may be greater than your resources, but it is not greater than God. You may have reached the limit of your strength, connections, finances or human ability, but God has not reached His limit.

The storm may resist your efforts, but it cannot resist the authority of Jesus Christ. When Jesus arose and said, “Peace, be still,” the wind ceased and there was testimony.

Psalm 107:28–29 says, “Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.” There is power in crying unto God when trouble becomes overwhelming.

Prayer may not always change the situation immediately, but it keeps our hearts connected to the One who has power over the situation. Prayer invites divine intervention into circumstances that appear beyond human ability.

When you have done everything you know to do and the storm is still raging, do not stop praying. When your resources are exhausted, pray. When people cannot help you, pray. When you cannot see a way forward, pray.

When your strength is failing, pray. When fear tells you that everything is about to collapse, continue to call upon God. The disciples cried to Jesus in the middle of their storm, and Jesus responded.

Never allow the size of your problem to silence your prayer. Sometimes God calms the storm around us, and sometimes He first gives us peace and strength to endure the pain while the situation is being resolved.

Therefore, prayer should not be abandoned simply because an answer has not appeared immediately. Prayer may not always remove the storm immediately, but it will strengthen your heart, give you direction and invite God’s power into the situation.

Avoid allowing fear to become the captain of your boat. Fear magnifies the waves and hides or limits the presence of Jesus in your life. It makes you imagine the worst possible outcome before it happens. It can push you into hasty decisions that create additional problems.

You must guard what you say during your storm. The disciples said, “We perish,” but Jesus had already said, “Let us pass over.” Which report will control your heart: the report of the waves or the Word of the Lord?

Replace words of defeat with declarations of faith. Say, “This storm will not destroy me. God is with me. I shall reach the other side.” Keep trusting God and also take every wise and responsible step available to you.

One of the greatest mistakes you can make during a difficult season is to assume that your present condition will become your permanent condition.

You may be struggling financially today, but that does not mean you will struggle forever. Your business may be going through a difficult season, but that does not mean it cannot recover.

You may have experienced rejection, but that does not mean everybody will reject you. You may have lost an opportunity, but that does not mean another door cannot open.

You may be recovering from sickness, but today’s weakness does not tell you everything about tomorrow. Recovery can take time, and progress may sometimes appear slow, but do not allow your present condition to convince you that improvement is impossible.

How you feel today does not necessarily determine how you will feel tomorrow. You may also be grieving a painful loss. Perhaps you lost someone you loved, a relationship ended, an opportunity disappeared, or something you spent years building suddenly collapsed.

Healing may take time, and there may be days when the pain feels fresh again. But do not condemn yourself because you are still hurting. The intensity of today’s pain does not have to remain unchanged forever. With time, prayer, support and healthy grieving, the heart can gradually become stronger.

Beloved, some storms end suddenly, while others gradually lose their strength. Do not despise gradual improvement simply because you were expecting an instant change.

A little strength returning, a little peace entering your heart, a little hope rising again and a little progress appearing can all be signs that the storm is losing its power.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” The storm was around the disciples, but fear allowed another storm to begin inside them.

Sometimes the problem outside us becomes a greater problem when it begins controlling our thoughts, emotions and decisions. You may be experiencing financial difficulty today, but do not allow it to convince you that your future is finished.

Your relationship may be going through trouble, but do not allow fear to push you into desperate decisions. Your business may be struggling at the moment, but do not allow discouragement to stop you from thinking creatively and making necessary adjustments.

You may be waiting for an opportunity, but do not allow delay to destroy your confidence. Sometimes a person can come out of trouble physically while still living inside the trouble mentally. The unhealthy relationship may have ended, but the emotional wounds continue.

Perhaps you are reading this devotional in the middle of a storm. Everything around you seems uncertain. You have prayed and you are tired. You have tried different solutions and nothing appears to be changing.

Your heart may even be asking the same question the disciples asked Jesus: “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” God has not forgotten you. However, I have good news for you today: every storm has an expiry date. It may be loud, frightening and destructive, but it cannot continue remain like this forever.

There is a God in heaven who commands the wind and the waves. When He speaks, disorder gives way to peace, fear gives way to faith, and confusion gives way to direction. There was a great storm, but afterward there was a great calm.

I pray that God will speak peace into every storm troubling your life. May the financial storm be calmed. May the marital storm receive divine intervention and wisdom.

May the storm surrounding your family give way to recovery and proper care. May stagnation give way to progress. May prolonged disappointment give way to new opportunities. May every spiritual battle against your peace be frustrated by fire.

The storm may have been fierce, but it will not have the final word. The storm may have shaken you, but it does not have to destroy you.

The storm may have delayed your journey, but it does not have to become your destination. By the mercy of God, may the storm give way to a great calm, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prophetic Declaration

I speak into every storm troubling your life: Peace, be still! Every wind of affliction, delay, fear, confusion and disappointment shall cease. The Lord will bring you out of distress and lead you safely to the other side.

Your marriage shall experience peace, your health shall receive divine intervention, your finances shall recover and your lost vision shall be strengthen. Every storm assigned to stop your divine journey shall lose its power. You shall not perish in this battle. Your tears shall become testimonies, and there shall be a great calm in your life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Daily Reflection

The presence of a storm does not mean that Jesus has left your boat. Trust His presence, obey His instructions and believe His Word. The storm will end, and you will reach the other side.

Wisdom for Today

Never allow the noise of the storm to become louder in your heart than the promise of God.

Personal Challenge

Identify the greatest storm currently affecting your peace. Write down what God has promised you concerning that area and one responsible action you must take to overcome it. Pray over the matter, reject fear and take that step in faith today.

Evangelism Challenge

Reach out to someone passing through a difficult season. Listen compassionately, share Mark 4:39 and remind the person that Jesus still has authority over every storm in their life. Pray together and offer practical assistance where possible.
