EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: September 8, 2026 – JESUS IS THE WAY

A way is a path, road, direction, or means through which a person reaches a particular destination. If you are travelling somewhere you have never been before, knowing the correct road is very important.

You can have a good vehicle, enough fuel, money in your pocket, and determination to travel, but if you are travelling on the wrong road, your speed will not take you to the right destination.

In fact, the faster you travel on the wrong road, the farther you may move away from where you are supposed to be. This is also true spiritually. Many people are moving, but not everybody is moving in the right direction.

Some people are deeply involved in religious activities yet have no personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

They assume that attending church, giving offerings, memorising Bible verses, growing up in a Christian family or having a respected pastor automatically makes them right with God.

This is a dangerous mistake because salvation is personal; everyone must repent, believe in Jesus and receive Him as Lord and Saviour.

You may have a way to get something, but it may not be the right way. There is a way to make money, but not every way of making money is right. There is a way to get married, but not every relationship will lead you into God’s purpose.

There is a way to become successful, but not every road to success will preserve your character. There is a way to become popular, but popularity does not mean you are walking in the right direction.

There is a way to get what you want quickly, but if that way requires you to compromise your faith, deceive people, commit sin, or destroy your integrity, then it is not God’s way.

Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Something can look right and still be wrong. Something can appear profitable today and become painful tomorrow. This is why everyone needs direction in life. It is not enough to be moving; you must know whether you are moving in the right direction.

A person travelling on the wrong road may be moving very fast, but speed does not correct direction. In fact, the faster you travel on the wrong road, the farther you move away from your destination.

Beloved, direction is more important than speed. Many people are desperate to succeed quickly. They desire instant wealth, marriage, promotion, recognition, breakthrough and results.

In their haste to reach their destination, they sometimes forget to ask whether the path they are following is the right one. Moving fast on the wrong road will only take you farther away from God’s purpose.

Many people are searching for the way to salvation, peace, freedom, purpose, and eternal life. Some look to wealth. They believe, “If I can just have enough money, everything will be alright.” Money can solve many practical problems, but money cannot reconcile a person to God.

Money can buy a house, but it cannot guarantee peace inside the house. Money can pay hospital bills, but it cannot guarantee immortality. Money can attract people, but it cannot guarantee genuine love. Money can make life more comfortable, but money cannot cleanse sin.

Jesus did not say, “I know the way” or “I will show you the way.” He declared, “I am the way.” Therefore, Christianity is not merely about following religious rules; it is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

 

1. Jesus Is the Way to God

Sin has separated humanity from God. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Jesus became the way by giving His life for us. He carried our sins upon the cross and shed His blood for our redemption. 1 Peter 2:24 says, “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree.” Through His sacrifice, the barrier of sin was removed, and everyone who believes in Him can receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God.

Jesus came to accomplish this work. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” A mediator stands between two separated parties to bring reconciliation. Through His death on the cross, Jesus paid the price for our sins and opened the way for us to approach the Father.

Beloved, there is no alternative road to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, “No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Prayer, fasting, giving and church attendance are important, but they cannot replace a genuine relationship with Jesus. Whoever desires to know God must repent, believe in Christ and surrender completely to Him.

 

2. Jesus Is the Way of Salvation

Salvation is deliverance from the guilt, power and eternal consequences of sin. Every human being needs salvation because sin brings spiritual death. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Salvation cannot be purchased with money or earned through human effort. Ephesians 2:8–9 says that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works. Good deeds should flow from a transformed life, but good deeds alone cannot wash away sin. Only the blood of Jesus has the power to cleanse a guilty conscience and make a sinner right with God.

Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Jesus carried our sins upon the cross and accepted the punishment we deserved. He died, was buried and rose again so that everyone who believes in Him may receive forgiveness and a new life.

Church membership is not salvation. Being raised by Christian parents is not salvation, and holding a position in the church cannot substitute for being born again. Salvation is a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. You must confess your sins, believe in His finished work and receive Him as your Lord and Saviour.

 

3. Jesus Is the Way Out of Darkness

Darkness represents sin, deception, ignorance, fear and the power of Satan. A person living outside Christ may possess wealth, education and influence yet remain in spiritual darkness.

Without the light of Christ, people can become successful in the eyes of the world while travelling towards eternal destruction.

Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” When Christ enters a person’s life, His light exposes sin, breaks deception and reveals the right path.

The things that once controlled the person begin to lose their power as the Holy Spirit produces transformation.

Colossians 1:13 says that God “hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” Through Christ, a believer receives authority over the works of darkness.

The blood of Jesus breaks the enemy’s legal claims over us, and while the Word of God gives us light, wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Walking out of darkness also requires leaving sinful practices behind. Anyone who follows Jesus must turn away from secret immorality, dishonesty, occult practices, bitterness and every habit that dishonours God. The light of Christ should be seen in your character, conversations, relationships and decisions.

 

4. Jesus Is the Way to Peace

Many people have money, possessions and public recognition but lack peace. Their minds are troubled, their homes are unsettled and fear controls their thoughts.

Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”

The peace of Christ is not dependent upon everything around you being perfect. It is the confidence that God is present, faithful and in control, even when you cannot understand what is happening.

The first peace Jesus gives is peace with God. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Sin makes humanity an enemy of God, but faith in Christ brings forgiveness, mercy and reconciliation. When your relationship with God is restored, His peace begins to rule your heart.

 

5. Jesus Is the Way to Abundant Life

Jesus said in John 10:10, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Abundant life is more than financial prosperity or material possessions.

It is a life filled with God’s presence, purpose, peace, righteousness, spiritual fruit and eternal hope. A person may own many things and still feel empty. Wealth can purchase comfort, but it cannot purchase salvation, a clear conscience or a genuine relationship with God.

Jesus fills the emptiness that worldly achievements cannot satisfy. In Him, people discover their true identity and the purpose for which they were created.

Abundant life does not mean that believers will never face trials. It means that trouble cannot separate them from God’s love or destroy His purpose for their lives. They receive strength in weakness, hope in disappointment, wisdom in confusion and grace to continue through adversity.

As you remain connected to Christ, His life flows through you. John 15:5 says, “He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.”

A fruitful life is produced through daily fellowship with Jesus, obedience to His Word and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.

 

6. Jesus Is the Way Through Life’s Difficulties

Following Jesus does not exempt anyone from challenges. Believers may experience rejection, sickness, financial pressure, family conflict and delayed expectations.

Jesus Himself said in John 16:33, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

The presence of a storm does not mean that Jesus has abandoned you. When the disciples encountered a violent storm, Jesus was with them in the boat. The waves were real, but so was His authority. When He commanded the wind and sea to be still, the storm obeyed Him.

Sometimes Jesus calms the storm around you, and at other times He strengthens you to pass through it. Paul asked God to remove his thorn, but God answered, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

God may change the situation, provide a way of escape or supply the grace needed to endure until the season changes.

When life becomes difficult, seek Christ before making desperate decisions. Pray for direction, examine the Scriptures and receive wise counsel.

Jesus will guide you through the valley, provide strength for the journey and prevent the trial from destroying His purpose for your life.

 

7. Jesus Is the Way to Eternal Life

Physical death is not the end of human existence. Every person will spend eternity somewhere, and our response to Jesus determines our eternal destination.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Eternal life is not simply living forever; it is living forever in fellowship with God. Jesus conquered sin and death through His resurrection. He said in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

A successful earthly life without Christ ends in eternal loss. Jesus asked in Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Certificates, houses, influence and money will remain behind, but the soul will stand before God.

Beloved, prepare for eternity by surrendering your life to Jesus today. Follow Him faithfully and allow His Word to govern your life.

Jesus is the only way to God, salvation, freedom from darkness, true peace, abundant life, victory through difficulties and everlasting life. Whoever trusts and follows Him will never regret the final destination.

 

8. Jesus Is the Way to Freedom

Many people are physically free but spiritually imprisoned. They are bound by sin, fear, addiction, bitterness, destructive habits and the consequences of their past decisions. Some have tried repeatedly to change but continually return to the same bondage.

Jesus said in John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” The freedom Christ gives us is not temporary. He breaks the power of sin, delivers the oppressed and gives people the strength to live differently.

Freedom in Christ also requires obedience to the truth. John 8:32 says, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” As you study the Word, surrender your habits to God and cooperate with the Holy Spirit, the chains that once controlled your life begin to fall away.

 

9. Jesus Is the Way to Healing

Jesus demonstrated God’s compassion by healing the sick and restoring the broken. Matthew 8:16 says that people brought many who were possessed and sick to Him, and “he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick.” Jesus’ ministry revealed that God cares about both the spiritual and physical condition of humanity.

1 Peter 2:24 says, “By whose stripes ye were healed.” Through His suffering and sacrifice, Christ has provided our deepest healing, includes freedom from sin and reconciliation with God. We can also bring our physical sickness, emotional wounds and painful memories to Him in prayer.

Trusting Jesus for healing does not prevent someone from seeking appropriate medical care. God can work through prayer, medicine, skilled professionals and wise decisions. Whatever method He chooses, the glory belongs to Him. Place your health in His hands and follow His direction with faith and wisdom.

 

10. Jesus Is the Way to Deliverance

The ministry of Jesus included setting captives free from demonic oppression. Acts 10:38 says that Jesus “went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” No satanic power was able to resist His authority.

Through His death and resurrection, Jesus defeated the powers of darkness. Colossians 2:15 says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

The victory of Christ is greater than every evil covenant, demonic oppression and satanic attack. Deliverance begins with surrendering completely to Jesus. A person seeking freedom must turn away from sin, and every doorway that dishonours God.

After deliverance, the heart should be filled with Scripture, prayer, obedience and fellowship with God. Freedom must be protected through a consistent relationship with Christ.

 

11. Jesus Is the Way to Restoration

Jesus is able to restore lives that sin, wrong decisions and painful circumstances have damaged. He restored Peter after Peter denied Him three times. Instead of cancelling Peter’s calling, Jesus forgave him, strengthened him and entrusted him with responsibility again.

Joel 2:25 says, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” God can restore wasted years, lost opportunities, broken confidence and damaged relationships according to His will. What appears permanently destroyed can receive new life when placed in His hands.

Restoration may require repentance, forgiveness, patience and practical correction. Jesus will comfort you, but He will also show you the changes required to protect what He restores. When Christ rebuilds a life, He often makes that person wiser, humbler and stronger than before.

 

12. Jesus Is the Way to Divine Direction

Many people make important decisions based only on feelings, pressure or popular opinion. Feelings can change, pressure can mislead, and the crowd can travel in the wrong direction. Jesus remains the dependable Guide for anyone who desires to fulfil God’s purpose.

John 10:27 says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Through Scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Jesus leads His people. His direction will agree with God’s Word and bring righteousness, wisdom and peace.

Before entering a relationship, choosing a career, relocating or making a major investment, seek the Lord. Avoid allowing urgency to silence discernment. God’s direction may require waiting, but waiting for Him is safer than running ahead and entering a trap.

 

13. Jesus Is the Way to Righteousness

Human righteousness is insufficient before a holy God. Isaiah 64:6 says that “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” Nobody can become righteous just by appearing religious or comparing themselves with people whose conduct seems worse.

2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Jesus took our sin upon Himself and gives His righteousness to everyone who believes in Him. We are accepted by God because of Christ’s finished work.

This grace of God should never become an excuse for continuing in sin. The righteousness we receive through faith must bring transformation in our life. When Christ lives within you, your conduct, speech, relationships and private decisions should increasingly reflect His holy character.

 

14. Jesus Is the Way to Purpose

Many people measure purpose only by money, position or public recognition. Yet a person can achieve great things and still miss the reason God created them. True purpose begins when your life is surrendered to Jesus.

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

You were created intentionally, and God has prepared an assignment for your life. Christ reveals that assignment and supplies the grace required to fulfil it.

Your purpose may be expressed through ministry, family, business, education, leadership, creativity or service. Whatever your field may be, it should glorify God and benefit others.

Stay close to Jesus, because the One who created you is the One who understands what your life was designed to accomplish.

 

15. Jesus Is the Way to Victory

The Christian life involves spiritual battles, but believers are not fighting for an uncertain outcome. Jesus has already defeated sin, death and the powers of darkness. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Victory does not mean that every battle disappears immediately. It means that no battle has the authority to separate you from God or cancel His purpose for your life. Through prayer, faith, obedience and the Word of God, you can stand firmly against every attack of the enemy.

Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” Stand upon the victory purchased by the blood of Jesus. Your strength alone may fail, but the power of Christ will sustain you until every battle reaches its appointed end.

Beloved, Jesus is the way through every season of our life. He brings freedom to captives, healing to the wounded, deliverance to the oppressed, restoration to the broken, direction to the confused, righteousness to sinners, purpose to the wandering and victory to those facing battles.

Remain in Him, because every road outside Christ eventually disappoints or bring destruction, but those who follow Jesus will never lose their eternal destination.

 

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY

1. Jesus did not point to a way; He declared Himself to be the way.
2. There is no other name under heaven whereby men must be saved.
3. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, all three joined together in one person.
4. Any attempt to reach God outside of Christ is like climbing in by another way.
5. Entering the way through Jesus leads to safety, provision, and abundant life.

 

Personal Challenge

Examine your relationship with Jesus today. Ask yourself whether you truly know Him personally or are merely depending on religious activities. Surrender every area of your life to Christ, obey His Word, and allow Him to guide your decisions. Choose to follow Jesus faithfully, even when His way is different from your plans.

 

Evangelism Challenge 

Share John 14:6 with someone today who may be searching through different paths for peace or purpose, and point them clearly to Jesus as the only way to the Father.

1. Father, I thank You for preserving my life throughout this day, in the name of Jesus.

2. Lord Jesus, thank You for being my Way, my Truth, and my Life, in the name of Jesus.

3. Father, thank You for every danger from which You preserved me today, in the name of Jesus.

4. Thank You for every decision You helped me to make wisely today, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father, thank You for Your mercy that has carried me from morning until night, in the name of Jesus.

6. Lord, forgive every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly today, in the name of Jesus.
