MESSAGE: EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: May 31, 2026 – Why Some Dreams Are Warnings
God can use dreams to reveal hidden things, expose danger, give instructions, warn His children, and prepare people ahead of time. Many people ignore dreams because they think dreams are meaningless, but throughout the Bible, God communicated with people through dreams and visions.
Some dreams are not ordinary. Some dreams are warnings sent by God to prevent danger, loss, destruction, or spiritual attack. God reveals things because He loves His children and does not want us to walk blindly into trouble.
Joseph received dreams concerning his future. Pharaoh received dreams about famine that was coming upon the land. Joseph, the husband of Mary, was warned in a dream to flee with baby Jesus into Egypt so that Herod would not kill the child. These examples show that warning dreams are real.
Sometimes God may show a person danger through dreams so they can pray and become spiritually alert. A person may dream about falling, being chased, missing a flight, losing valuables, seeing strange attacks, or seeing danger around loved ones. It’s not every warning dream means the evil will surely happen. Many warning dreams are opportunities to pray and cancel evil plans.
God reveals to redeem. A warning dream is not meant to create fear or blockage but to provoke prayer, wisdom, and spiritual alertness. When believers ignore divine warnings repeatedly, they may walk into avoidable battles.
Many people suffer because they ignore spiritual signals. Some dreams come repeatedly because heaven is trying to get your attention. When God keeps showing a particular warning in different forms, it should not be ignored carelessly.
However, believers must also avoid panic and fear. It is not every dream should control your emotions. Some dreams are reflections of stress, sickness, thoughts, fear, or daily activities. This is why spiritual discernment is important and never conclude that the dream is meaningless. Every dream should be taken to God in prayer for understanding.
Some warning dreams reveal spiritual attacks against health, finances, marriage, ministry, or destiny. Others reveal wrong relationships, dangerous decisions, betrayal, or hidden enemies. Many are revealed to warn you to take caution. There are people who escaped accidents, traps, and evil attacks because they prayed after receiving warning dreams.
God does not always warn people because something bad must happen. Many warning dreams are acts of God’s mercy and preservation on the person. Heaven may reveal danger so a person can do the right thing, or change his plans. A warning is proof that God still cares enough to speak and deliver the person from trouble.
One dangerous mistake many people make is discussing every dream with everyone. Some people expose their dreams to mockers and unbelievers who discourage them spiritually. Pray first before speaking carelessly about sensitive dreams.
Warning dreams should push us closer to God. They should encourage prayer, fasting, holiness, and spiritual sensitivity. A careless spiritual life can make a person ignore important divine instructions. Some people only take dreams seriously after a negative event happens physically.
They remember that they had seen signs in dreams but ignored them. At times, warning dreams expose people around us. God may reveal hidden betrayal, deception, or dangerous relationships. If Joseph had ignored that warning, the consequences would have been terrible.
Some warning dreams are repeated because the person failed to respond spiritually the first time. Heaven may repeat the message again in different forms until the person pays attention and pray. This is why recurring dreams should never be ignored completely.
Sometimes warning dreams come when a person is about to make a wrong decision. A believer may feel emotionally excited about something physically, while spiritually danger is attached to it. God may then use dreams to expose what the person cannot naturally see. This is why spiritual people do not rush into decisions carelessly without prayer.
Another reason some dreams come as warnings is because of the prayers of loved ones. There are times when parents, spouses, pastors, or intercessors pray deeply for someone, and God begins to expose dangers concerning that person to them through dreams. Intercession can provoke divine revelation
Many people have entered avoidable trouble because they ignored warnings completely. Some people were warned in dreams not to travel, not to visit certain places, not to follow certain people, or not to make certain decisions, yet they proceeded carelessly.
Spiritual warnings are not always meant to scare you; sometimes they are divine signals calling for caution, prayer, and vigilance. If the warning dream has to do with “Don’t go,” “Delay the journey,” “Be careful,” or “Pray before moving,” do not act stubbornly.
Slow down and seek God first. Spend time in prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit for peace and clarity. There are moments when a delay can save a life, and there are times when prayer can cancel danger completely. God can use dreams to prevent accidents, betrayal, traps, attacks, or wrong associations.
Some people later realized that heaven was trying to protect them, but they were too rushed, emotional, or proud to listen. Wisdom is one of the greatest protections a believer can have. The advise is that: Do not do things anyhow. Some believers move without prayer, travel without spiritual preparation, make decisions without seeking God, and ignore repeated warning signs.
Spiritual carelessness can expose a person to unnecessary battles. The devil also attacks people through fear after certain dreams. Some people wake up terrified and lose peace immediately. But as believers, we must remember that Jesus Christ has authority over every power of darkness. Prayer can reverse evil decrees and destroy satanic plans.
However, believers must avoid becoming fearful or obsessed with dreams. Some people live in constant fear after every bad dream. Fear is not from God. The purpose of a warning dream is not to paralyze you but to prepare you spiritually. Once you pray and hand the matter over to God, you should walk in faith and peace.
The devil can also use dreams to plant fear, confusion, discouragement, or oppression. That is why every dream must be judged through prayer and the Word of God. It’s not every bad dream is allowed by God. Some dreams are established, approved and carried out by darkness against us.
One important thing to do after a warning dream is immediate prayer. Do not wait until later. Take action now. Cancel every evil agenda in the name of Jesus. Cover yourself and your family with the blood of Jesus. Some people also combine prayer with fasting when a dream feels serious or disturbing repeatedly.
There are also positive warning dreams. Sometimes God warns a person to stop certain habits, avoid wrong friendships, leave dangerous places, relocate to another area, break uop with a person, avoid operating on the business or return to Him spiritually. These warnings are acts of divine love.
God does not want His children destroyed through ignorance. As believers, we should ask God for discernment and understanding. Do not become spiritually careless about dreams, but do not become dream-controlled either. Your confidence must remain in God and His power.
Whenever God reveals a matter through dreams, immediately respond with prayer, wisdom, fasting and faith. God reveals problems not to destroy His children, but to preserve, protect, and prepare them for victory. Be careful not to mock spiritual warnings. Some people laugh at dreams until they later regret it.
A wise believer tests every matter prayerfully. Even if you are unsure about the dream, praying about it will not harm you. Prayer brings divine covering and direction. At the same time, do not allow every dream report from people to control your life blindly. Some people speak from fear, assumptions, or confusion.
This is why we need to be prayerful. Take the matter to God personally. Let the Holy Spirit guide your response. However, if several warning dreams keep repeating about the same issue, location, relationship, or decision, pay close attention. Repetition can sometimes indicate urgency. Increase your spiritual watchfulness instead of becoming careless.
A spiritually mature believer does not ignore warnings, and neither do they become fearful slaves to dreams. They respond with prayer, wisdom, obedience, and faith in God’s protection. Sometimes one prayerful response to a warning dream can prevent months or years of pain. God reveals because He loves, protects, and preserves His children.
If you receive a troubling dream, do not surrender to fear. Pray immediately. Cancel every evil agenda against you in the name of Jesus. Read the Word of God, worship, and ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and protection. A wise person listens, prays, and seeks God for understanding instead of acting proudly or carelessly.
Remember that prayer can change situations. Many dangers have been cancelled because someone prayed after receiving a warning. May the Lord open your spiritual understanding, protect you from hidden dangers, and grant you wisdom to respond correctly to every divine warning, in Jesus’ name.
