Topic: Where’s Your Anointing?

Opening Scriptures

2 Timothy 1:6–7 (KJV)

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Memory Verse

1 John 2:27 (KJV)

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

Praise and Worship

EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: July 15, 2026 – Where’s Your Anointing?

The anointing of God is one of the greatest treasures a believer can possess in life. It is the presence and power of the Holy Spirit working in and through a person to fulfill God’s purpose.

The anointing gives strength to the weak, wisdom to the simple, boldness to the fearful, and grace to accomplish what human ability cannot achieve. The question is, where is your anointing?

This question is meant to awaken your spirit, not to condemn you. It is a prompt that should make you pause and deeply examine your spiritual walk with God. Have you lost your anointing, your gifts, your grace, and your virtues? God is asking you today: “Where is the anointing I entrusted to you?”

Your spirit man is crying out, “Where is your anointing?” Those who once knew your fire are now struggling to understand your lukewarmness, and they are silently asking, “What happened to this person?” There was a time when you were completely on fire for God.

There was a time when nobody needed to remind you to pray. There was a season when studying the Bible was the ultimate delight of your soul. You could worship God for hours without ever looking at the clock. You were spiritually sensitive, easily discerning when something was wrong in the atmosphere.

But today, everything has become a heavy struggle. Prayer feels like a chore. Reading the Word has become a difficult task. Even gathering with other believers feels incredibly draining. Where is your anointing? Where is your gift? Are you still connected to the source, or have you lost your grip?

This is the moment to cry out to God for total restoration. It is a great tragedy when a believer loses their anointing. With the anointing, you can fulfill your destiny, but once it is gone, darkness begins to rule the affairs of your life. The anointing is the ultimate driving force behind our spiritual activities.

It operates like fuel powering a vehicle. No matter how beautiful or expensive a car may be, without fuel, it remains stagnant. In the very same way, you may possess the desire to pray or do God’s work, but when the spiritual fire stops burning, you will struggle to make any forward progress in the things of God.

It is the anointing that strengthens a person to pray consistently, study the Word, worship God, and remain committed to his divine assignments. When you discover that you struggle to have a relationship with God, you need to examine yourself quickly.  My brother, my sister, where is your anointing?

It is the anointing that empowers a person to pray consistently, study the Word, worship deeply, and remain committed to their divine assignment. The moment you notice that intimacy with God has become difficult, you must examine yourself immediately. My brother, my sister, where is your anointing?

Look at the servants of God throughout scripture. Some preserved the grace and anointing upon their lives, while others lost their spiritual strength due to disobedience, sin, immorality, carelessness, pride, or toxic associations. Samson was a heavily anointed man.

The Spirit of God moved mightily through him, and his enemies knew there was something supernatural about his life. But Samson became reckless with his consecration. The most heartbreaking part of his story is that he did not immediately realize when the power of God had departed from him.

Judges 16:20 records that he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself.” He assumed he could operate on yesterday’s anointing. He thought everything was still normal. But the scripture drops a heavy verdict: “He wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”

What an absolute tragedy! A man can lose his spiritual fire and still be holding the microphone. A person can lose the anointing and fail to command breakthroughs. You can stop experiencing the hand of God in your life entirely when you abuse or neglect divine privileges.

You can lose your prayer life and still not hear the voice of God. You can become spiritually dry and still lose the connection to your prayer. The truth remains: you cannot give what you do not have. The anointing entrusted to you in the house of God, where is it? The mantle you received in the realms of the spirit, where is it?

The anointing you once accumulated through speaking in tongues, worship, and attending church programs, where is it? It is a tragedy to lose your passion for prayer, but it is catastrophic to lose the anointing or the grace that powers your life. A servant of God who has lost the anointing will inevitably struggle to command signs and wonders.

Losing the anointing happens the moment you disconnect yourself from the Source of all power and authority. The moment you lose that divine connection, you lose access to your spiritual inheritance. The Bible declares that by their fruits you shall know them; it is easy to discern those who still carry authentic grace from those who do not.

The anointing is not generated by shouting. It is not found in debating the scriptures to prove you know the Bible better than others, nor is it manufactured through eye-service before your pastor or church members. The anointing is not a title. You can be decorated as an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, or Prayer Warrior and still be spiritually dry.

True anointing is reflected in a continuous life of service, radical obedience, deep fellowship, and total submission to God. One undeniable truth about genuine anointing is that people instinctively know when you carry it. You never have to announce yourself; your life, your fruits, your words, your character, and your spiritual impact will speak for you.

In the same way, it is easy to distinguish between a person who is struggling to stay relevant and one who has the grace to operate effortlessly in their divine assignment. A spiritually disconnected person will suddenly find it difficult to manifest the results that used to come to them and get results with ease.

If the fire or the passion is no longer there, something is desperately wrong. If you constantly struggle to fast, pray, or preach the gospel with courage, check the state of your spiritual life and cry for mercy. If you struggle to gather with other believers when there is no genuine reason preventing you, it is time to work on yourself before it is too late.

If you were once a midnight intercessor but now you cannot remember the last time you prayed seriously in the night, you need an urgent revival. It is dangerous to defend your spiritual coldness. You need to look for ways to get back on your track of faith. It is wrong to normalize redflags or spiritual problems, cry out to God!

The devil understands the devastating power of an anointed believer. This is why he fights your prayer life. He introduces distractions. He brings unnecessary offences. He tempts you into that trap. He makes you spiritually lazy. He keeps you busy with things that have no eternal value.

He knows that when your fire is burning, you are dangerous to the kingdom of darkness. Therefore, his strategy is often to weaken your spiritual consistency little by little. Many people did not lose their anointing in one day. It happened gradually. They missed prayer today and ignored it.

They stopped studying the Bible and saw nothing wrong with it. They began to tolerate certain sins as normal thing. They entered wrong relationships without discernment. They became too busy for God.  Little by little, the fire began to diminish until a lifestyle of sin became completely normalized.

Never forget this law: you cannot give what you do not have. You can never consistently strengthen others when you yourself are spiritually empty! You cannot pour from an empty vessel. This is exactly why every believer and servant of God must constantly return to the presence of the God.

The secret place is where your strength is renewed, and the altar of prayer is where your fire is maintained.  Perhaps a pastor or a mentor once laid hands on you and cried out for your revival. Perhaps you received a specific prophetic word concerning your ministry.

Maybe you were once officially commissioned for God’s work, but today it seems you have lost the grace, the passion, and the stamina to continue. Do not remain in that condition.  Do not pretend that everything is fine when you know deep down that something fundamental has shifted.

Cry out to God and tell Him the absolute truth. Pray, “Father, I am not where I used to be spiritually. Lord, I need You again. Restore my prayer life. Restore my hunger for Your Word. Restore my passion for Your presence, and set my altar on fire again!” King David understood this desperate fear.

After his great fall, he cried out in Psalm 51:11, “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.” David knew that losing the presence and power of God was infinitely more dangerous than losing an earthly throne. He understood that a crown without God’s presence is an empty, treacherous illusion.

The truth is, God did not anoint you for decoration. He did not deposit His grace upon your life so you could sit down and do nothing, nor did He give you spiritual authority to intimidate others with your gifts.

Every genuine anointing carries an assignment, every gift possesses a distinct purpose, and every grace given to a man is meant to serve His kingdom and become a blessing to others. If God has entrusted you with something, He expects you to deploy it.

There are people who were once exceptionally useful in the house of God, committed, available, and deeply passionate. Whenever there was a need, they were ready to serve God wholeheartedly. But today, nobody knows what happened to them. They have lost the anointing.

They are still enjoying their little grace, prospering in other areas of life, but their spiritual assignments have been abandoned for years. They struggle to find excitement in the things of God. They have buried the gifts God gave them through carelessness, ignorance and negligence.

Remember the parable of the talents. The servant who hid his talent did not lose it to a thief. He did not sell it. He simply refused to use it. That alone became a serious matter before his master. This should teach us that God is interested in what we are doing with the gifts, opportunities, and grace He has placed upon our lives.

What are you doing with your anointing? What are you doing with the gift of intercession? What are you doing with your voice, your ability to encourage, or the divine wisdom God has given you? Are you using it for His glory, or have you buried it under the weight of fear, disappointment, laziness, or human opinion?

Some people are waiting for a massive platform before they will serve God. They want thousands of followers before they preach a sermon, or a microphone before they speak about Jesus. They demand a title before they become fully committed. But the anointing is always tested in the secret place and verified in small assignments. If you cannot be faithful with five people, why are you begging God for five thousand?

David was anointed long before he ever stepped his foot into the palace. He carried the oil while taking care of his sheep. Nobody was clapping for him in the wilderness. There was no crowd watching him. Yet, he was busy developing his relationship with God.

He was worshipping God and asking God for mercies. He was learning the courage to stand before the Lord. He was being prepared for the throne. Beloved, do not despise the season where nobody seems to notice you; God may be training you. Do not abandon your gift/assignment just because people are not celebrating you.

The oil upon your life is not dependent on human applause. Some of the greatest things God will ever do in you will happen when nobody is watching. You must also understand that an increased in the anointing attracts responsibilities. The more God gives you His grace, the more He expects more from you.

You cannot ask for greater grace while refusing greater discipline. You cannot pray for a powerful ministry while living a reckless lifestyle. You cannot ask God to use you mightily while refusing to obey Him in small things. Many want the public manifestation of the anointing, but they do not want the private discipline that sustains it.

They admire the sermon but do not see the hours of committment and dedication. They admire the miracles but do not see the nights of sacrifice. They admire the spiritual strength of others but do not know the battles they fought to remain standing.

There is a price for consistency in our assignment. There are times you will pray when you do not feel like praying. There are times you will open your Bible when your body wants to sleep. There are times you will have to separate yourself from certain people because you know their influence is weakening your spiritual life.

There are times you must say no to yourself in order to say yes to God. Beloved, your spiritual life cannot be built on feelings alone. If you only pray when you feel anointed, you may not pray consistently. If you only study the Bible when you are excited, you may remain spiritually weak.

Discipline keeps you at the altar until fresh hunger begins to rise again. Do not always wait for somebody to push you before you pray. Do not wait until a problem comes before you remember fasting. Do not wait until you have a bad dream before you become serious with God.

Your relationship with God should not be controlled only by emergencies. Some people are very prayerful when there is a battle. Once the battle is over, they disappear from the altar or stop having interest for prayer for example. When another problem comes, they return back to prayer and begin to cry again.

This is not spiritual consistency. This is like a way of trying to rob God with your emotion. God desires fellowship with you, not only emergency visits. The anointing must be fed. Your spirit man must be fed with the Word of God. You must create time for prayer.

You must worship God. You must learn to stay quiet in His presence. Sometimes, we talk too much in prayer and do not create room to listen. The anointing also grows through obedience. When God gives you an instruction, obey Him. Delayed obedience can weaken a man’s spiritual sensitivity.

When God speaks repeatedly and you continually ignore Him, a time may come when you struggle to recognize His voice. Not because you didn’t pray well, but because you have trained yourself to ignore His instructions. Samuel said, “Speak; for thy servant heareth.”

That should be the attitude of every believer. Lord, speak to me. Correct me. Direct me. Show me where I am wrong. Tell me what to stop. Tell me where to go. Tell me what assignment I have neglected. Maybe God has been speaking to you about something for a long time.

He has been telling you to forgive someone. He has been telling you to leave a wrong association. He has been telling you to return to your assignment. He has been telling you to become serious with your spiritual life. But you keep postponing it. How long will you postpone obedience?

There are some opportunities that are connected to your obedience. There are dimensions of grace you may not experience until you say yes to God. Your next spiritual level may be waiting for your complete surrender. Stop telling God, “Tomorrow.” Stop saying, “When I have time.”

Stop saying, “When things become better.” If God is calling you back to the altar, return today. If He is asking you to use your gift, begin immediately. If He is correcting your lifestyle, humble yourself and make the necessary changes. The oil is too precious to waste.

Samson discovered this when it was almost too late for him. Saul discovered it after disobedience had damaged his relationship with God. Do not wait until you lose precious opportunities before you value what God has placed upon your life. There are people praying for the grace you are neglecting.

There are people asking God for the opportunity you are taking for granted. There are people who wish they could do what God has given you the ability to do. Value the grace of God upon your life. My brother, my sister, wake up. Your generation needs what God has deposited in you.

Your family may need your prayers. Someone may need the word of encouragement God has placed in your mouth. Someone may come to Christ because you obeyed God. One of the greatest enemies of the anointing is secret sin. Ask yourself honestly: Am I still as hungry for God as I used to be?

Do I still enjoy His presence, or have other things taken His place? Another question you should ask yourself is this: What are you using your anointing for? God never anoints a person for self-glory. The anointing is given so that lives can be touched, people can be encouraged, the Gospel can be preached, the sick can be prayed for, the brokenhearted can be comforted, and the name of Jesus can be glorified.

Beloved, where is your anointing today? Is your prayer life still alive? Is your love for God’s Word still growing? Is your passion for souls still burning? Can people still see Christ in your character? May this devotional not merely challenge you, but awaken a fresh hunger for God.

Do not die with your gift unused. Do not allow distraction to bury your assignment. Do not let offence silence your voice. Do not let disappointment remove you from the place where God has planted you. Arise again. Pick up your Bible again. Return to prayer again.

Serve again. Evangelize again. Worship again. Use your gift again. Do not be ashamed to start again. God is not asking you how long you have been cold. He is calling you to return back to Him so He can restore you. If He is speaking to your heart through this message, it means He has not abandoned you.

There is still hope for restoration. There is still an opportunity to rebuild your prayer altar. You can burn again. You can pray again. You can serve God again. Go back to God and cry for fresh fire. Ask Him to restore everything you have lost through sin, carelessness, distraction, or spiritual laziness.

If you have discovered that your spiritual fire is no longer what it used to be, do not remain in that condition. Return to God today. God is always ready to restore those who genuinely seek Him. He has not rejected you. He is calling you back into deeper fellowship with Him.

May your spiritual fire burn brighter than ever before. May the Holy Spirit renew your strength, restore your joy, increase your discernment, and pour fresh oil upon your life. The days of spiritual dryness are over.

As you draw near to God, He will draw near to you, and the anointing upon your life shall become stronger, deeper, and more fruitful than ever before.

Where is your anointing? It is time to find your way back to the secret place. It is time to reclaim your spiritual fire. It is time to burn for God again.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

I declare over your life today: your spiritual fire shall not go out, in Jesus’ name. Every power assigned to quench your prayer life, weaken your spiritual hunger, and disconnect you from the presence of God shall fail.

I prophesy that the Lord will set your altar on fire again. Your hunger for prayer shall return. Your passion for the Word of God shall return. Your desire to worship and serve the Lord shall be restored. Every spiritual dryness in your life is coming to an end.

Whatever you have lost through carelessness, distraction, sin, wrong relationships, or spiritual laziness, may the mercy of God restore you. You shall not end like Samson. You shall not lose your divine assignment. You shall not become a former champion in the things of God.

Receive fresh oil! Receive fresh fire! Receive fresh grace to pray, study the Word, evangelize, and fulfil your divine assignment. Every gift of God lying dormant in you shall come alive again.

I declare that the enemy will not steal your anointing. Your oil will not dry up. Your lamp will not go out. You will burn for God and remain useful in His hands.

Key Lessons for Today

  • The anointing must be guarded
  • Spiritual dryness is a warning sign.
  • You cannot give what you do not have.
  • Spiritual fire can fade gradually.
  • Do not depend on yesterday’s anointing.
  • People can recognize the presence of God upon a life.
  • Titles are not evidence of anointing.
  • The anointing must never be used for self-glory.
  • Do not pretend when your fire is low.God can restore your lost fire.

Personal Challenge

Take time today to honestly examine your spiritual life. Do not compare yourself with another believer. Compare your present spiritual condition with the person you used to be when your fire was burning strongly for God.

Evangelism Challenge

Reach out to someone who has become spiritually weak or distant from God. Encourage the person with love, pray with them, and remind them that God can restore their spiritual fire and bring them back to His presence.

Wisdom for Today

Do not depend on yesterday’s anointing to carry today’s assignment. Stay connected to God, keep your altar burning, and seek fresh oil daily.
