DISOBEDIENCE IS A DISEASE
“Thou shall not” is a strong word of warning and caution. For instance, thou shall not steal is a warning given to those who wish to steal. Stealing is not only those who steal money but those who takes away what does not belong to them. When God gives order in His commandments , it is blissful to follow them to the latter. There is always a reward from God when you obey His commandments. If there is anything God hates among believers of today, it is disobedience. They just disobey God as if God is too small for them. They just disobey God from Monday to Saturday and go to church on Sunday and behave holy. You may deceive people but you cannot deceive God. (Gal 6:7). That’s why most people’s prayers have gone hindered for long. They occasionally pray for grace forgetting the part of repentance.
What’s is disobedience? It is a refusal of obeying God’s word. Disobedience is caused by rebellion and distrust of God. To be disobedient is to yield to self-will instead of surrendering to God and desiring His will in all things.
What the scriptures says?
“Why do you call me, “Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46)
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” (James 1:22).
“See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse — the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known” (Deuteronomy 11:26-28).
But Samuel replied: Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king” (I Samuel 15:22-23).
After reading the word of God, it is very sad that such people will tell you that they want to live their life as it pleases them not living life to please God. You can see the areas the devil is fighting the mind of most people. If you are such a person, you need instant deliverance. By the time God arrest you, immediately you will break down your pride and arrogancy. God revealed to me that most of the problems of many today is due to disobedient. Disobedient to God and disobedient to their parents. There is no way a man can move forward when you are fond of disobeying the instruction of your parents. For instance, your parent told you to do it this way, you said no, their idea is old school. By the time you begin to follow what pleases you, that’s where you begin to have serious problem (Eph 6:1, Col 3:20)
The practice of disobedient is a witchcraft spirit (1 Sam 15:23) What areas have you disobeyed God?
In Deut 28:1 says, And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Those who don’t always hearken to God’s word suffer quality response from the Almighty God. When God told you to take one step, but you already taken 4 steps, you have disobeyed God. When God told you not to worship idol, you say it doesn’t matter, God will punish you for your sin. When God told you even revealing it to you in the dream not to abort the baby, you kill it so that your parent will not know about it, the consequences are waiting for you. When God told you not to marry that man or woman and you went ahead and marry, you say it doesn’t matter, thinking God will help you for your deliberate art, you will suffer except you repent.
God’s commandment is not only instituted for a particular set of people but everyone who might be fallen short of the glory of God. I implore you to read this scripture in Exodus 20. That scriptures should be daily passage of all.
HOW TO OVERCOME?
Thank God for areas of disobedience you may discover. Once identified, they can be removed. This will result in new joy and greater faith. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). “Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Confess the disobedience as sin. Ask God for forgiveness and claim His promise of complete pardon. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9). If your act of disobedience involves others who are in authority over you, you must rectify the situation with them. The Bible teaches that we can and should live at peace with ourselves and others. Disobedience to God and those in authority over you can block the joy, blessings and inner peace which God desires for you.
