DAY 6: A CRY FOR MERCY OVER SECRET SINS

Psalm 19:12

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Psalms 32:5

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Proverbs 28:13

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

INTRODUCTION

Secret sins are silent destroyers. They are hidden from people but fully exposed before God. The Bible says all things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him. Secret sins can delay answers to prayer, reduce our spiritual sensitivity, and give the enemy legal access to accuse and afflict people.

When you hide your sin, you deny yourself of the blessing of God. You give room for the enemy to manipulate your life through dreams. Hiding your sin shows that you are hiding the glory of God in your life. Sin can rob you of your virtues and glory.

That’s why many people pray a lot and yet see little or no results in their life; they fast and yet experience stagnation and they worship God and yet feel disconnected. God is merciful, but He deserves truth in the inward paths.

Until secret sins are checked or brought under the mercy of God, a person may be begin to live a life of defeat. Many believers appears strong outwardly and yet secretly battling with their sins that are eating up their spiritual life. Any sin that you refuse to let out becomes your bondage.

Any sin that you hid in your heart and refuse to confess will gradually affect you physically and spiritually. Any sin you refuse to confess hinders your destiny. You can’t hide your sin and expect things to work out for you. Even when you think you are progressing, the progress may stop halfway unless you do the right thing.

Repentance leads to victory. This is the time to repent from your sin. By repentance, you are breaking away from the grip and control of the power of darkness. A lot of people are hiding things from people. The question is, why are you hiding the information from your spouse, pastor, parents or mentor?

You can deceive others for a long time, but you cannot deceive God. David understood the power of a cry for mercy. He cried to God for cleansing from his secret faults. He knew that if the secrets are kept unconfessed, it would lead him to open shame and attract God’s judgement.

God does not expose secret sins to destroy His children, He expose them to correct them, cleanse and restore them. Though, the beginning may be painful, but later mercy would prevail after running back to Him in true repentance.

Secret sins do not remain secret forever. It may be revealed someday either through a mistake from you or from any person. The Bible says, be sure, your sin will still find you (Numbers 32:23). Secret sin doesn’t allow ones prayer to go far in the spirit realm.

Many people think secret sins are limited to cheating, sexual immorality, but a secret sin is something that you do and you don’t want anyone else to know about it because of guilt and prosecution. Secret sin includes unforgiveness, deceit, secret addiction, etc.

Unless you let out that sin, you may still be vulnerable to all kinds of attacks of the wicked. Until you open up, mercy may not speak. When you confess your sin, mercy comes and the shame of judgement will be taken away from you.

What are those sin you’re hiding? You must confess it out today in Day 6 of the 40 days fasting. As you cry today, do not hide other part of your sins, come boldly to the throne of grace so that you will obtain mercy. May the Lord forgive you today, in Jesus name.

CONFESSION

Father Lord, You are the God who sees in secret, and I acknowledge that nothing in my life is hidden from You. I come before You with a humble and sincere heart.

I confess every secret sin, every hidden fault, and every inward struggle before You. I do not cover them or excuse them. I repent genuinely, I turn away from them, and I surrender my heart fully to You.

By Your great mercy, forgive me completely. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness and wash me thoroughly. Let the precious blood of Jesus wash me from every hidden sin, known and unknown, remembered and forgotten.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, steadfast, and obedient spirit within me. Restore my fellowship with You, remove every appetite for sin, and grant me grace to live a life that pleases You in secret and in public.

From today, I receive strength by the Holy Spirit to walk in holiness, truth, and obedience. Let my life bring You glory, and let Your mercy continually speak for me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

(DAY 6): A CRY FOR MERCY OVER SECRET SINS – Prayer Points

1. O Lord, by Your mercy, forgive me of every secret sin I have hidden from the right people, help me to confess them out, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, show me mercy over my secret sin that is separating You away from me, in the name of Jesus.

3. O God of mercy, search my heart and try me, whatever is not pleasing to You, remove it by fire and by Your mercy, in the name of Jesus.

4. O Lord, let Your mercy prevent every accusation rising from my hidden sins, and silence the voice of condemnation against me, in the name of Jesus

5. Father, I receive grace to hate sin, resist temptation, and walk in holiness both in secret and in public, in the name of Jesus.

6. Father, I cry for mercy over sins done in thoughts, imaginations, private places or with hands or mouth, in name of Jesus.

7. O Lord, let Your mercy deliver me from secret sins that are blocking my progress and delaying answers to my prayers, in the name of Jesus.

8. Every secret sin that has brought pollution into my life, be washed away by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.

9. Father, by Your mercy, restore the joy of my salvation and establish my relationship with You, in the name of Jesus.

10. O God of mercy, replace every hidden sin with a hunger for righteousness and a passion for holiness, in the name of Jesus.

11. Father, every secret sin that is gradually weakening my spiritual authority, be terminated by Your mercy, in the name of Jesus.

12. Father, every sin secret sin I have normalized in my life, let Your mercy uproot it completely from my life, in the name of Jesus.

13. By the mercy of God, I break free from every secret sins that has followed me quietly from my past into my present, in the name of Jesus.

14. By the mercy, O Lord, disconnect me from secret sins that are making things difficult for me, in the name of Jesus.

15. Father, let Your mercy break the power of hypocrisy in my life and restore sincerity in my walk with You, in the name of Jesus.

16. O Lord, by Your mercy, do not let secret sins become public shame in my life, rescue me now, in the name of Jesus.

17. Father, let your mercy be available for me and set me free from where the judgement of the enemy had tied me, in the name of Jesus.

18. O Lord, by Your mercy, break every cycle of confession and falling back into the same secret sins, in the name of Jesus.

19. Every secret sin that is silently attracting judgement, shame, delay, or affliction into my life, Father, by Your mercy, erase it today, in the name of Jesus.

20. Father, let Your mercy deliver me from secret habits and hidden weaknesses that keep pulling me away from You, in the name of Jesus.

21. Father, let the fear of God rule my heart and preserve me from returning back to my secret sins, in the name of Jesus.

22. O Lord, by Your mercy, restore every blessing, opportunity, and spiritual gift I have lost through secret sins, in the name of Jesus.

23. Father, let Your mercy expose and heal every secret weakness the enemy uses to accuse me, in the name of Jesus.

24. O God of mercy, strengthen me to walk in the light, to live transparently before You, and to finish my journey in holiness, in the name of Jesus.

25. O God of mercy, every secret sin I have repeated despite previous repentance, today, show me mercy and give me total victory, in the name of Jesus.

26. O God of mercy, let the blood of Jesus erase every record of secret sins speaking against my destiny, in the name of Jesus.

27. Father, every secret sin that has attracted shame, embarrassment, or reproach, by Your mercy, cover me and restore my honor, in the name of Jesus.

28. O Lord, every secret sin that is quietly shaping my character in the wrong direction, by Your mercy, reverse its effect, in the name of Jesus.

29. O God of mercy, I refuse to manage sin; I receive grace to conquer it completely, in the name of Jesus.

30. Father, let the fire of the Holy Ghost consume every root of secret sin that keeps resurfacing in my thoughts, desires, and actions, in the name of Jesus.

31. O God, let Your mercy preserve me from falling into the same secret sins that have destroyed others, and keep me standing till the end, in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT

Spend 15-20 minutes alone with God in silence. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart deeply. Ask God to reveal anything hidden that needs repentance.
