BREAKING THE POWER OF WITCHCRAFT

Breaking the Power of Witchcraft – EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: September 29, 2026

Witchcraft is the use of demonic power to influence, control or harm people and circumstances outside the will of God. It operates through manipulation, enchantment, divination, curses and spiritual bondage.

The prophet Nahum described “the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts” (Nahum 3:4). Notice: witchcraft sells families. It trades destinies. It puts a price on people’s glory.

Jehu asked Joram, “What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?” (2 Kings 9:22). Where witchcraft rules, there is no peace.

But Scripture reveals something many overlook. Witchcraft is listed among the works of the flesh: “Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance…” (Galatians 5:20). And Samuel told Saul, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 15:23).

This means witchcraft is not only something done in the village at midnight. At its root is the spirit of control, manipulation and rebellion against God. Whenever a person uses intimidation, emotional blackmail, lies or manipulation to dominate others, the same spirit is at work.

Therefore, before we pray against witchcraft outside, we must close every door to it inside. The fire we call down must first purify our own hearts.

Every spirit of witchcraft, manipulation and rebellion hiding within my own life, be exposed and cast out by the fire of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus.

Beloved, the enemy wants you to magnify his activities until you forget the greatness of your God. He wants you to believe that an evil altar, a curse, a charm or an incantation is stronger than the blood of Jesus.

But the Word declares that Christ “spoiled principalities and powers” and “made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:15). At the cross, darkness was disarmed and publicly disgraced.

Fear is one of the enemy’s most effective weapons, because it can imprison a person before anything has even happened.

Someone hears that an evil person has threatened them, and from that moment every headache, every delay and every disagreement is interpreted as proof that the threat is working. The enemy does not need to lift a finger; fear does the work for him.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). A sound mind is essential in spiritual warfare. Pray with faith, not panic. Remain watchful without becoming suspicious of everyone.

Beloved, the power of witchcraft must be confronted through the blood of Jesus, the Word of God and persistent prayer. Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”

The blood of Jesus speaks redemption, mercy and victory over the believer. The power of darkness must also be confronted through holy living. A person cannot seek power over witchcraft while secretly visiting occult practitioners, carrying charms or participating in forbidden rituals.

Christ requires undivided allegiance. Every spiritual object, covenant or practice that competes with your devotion to Jesus must be renounced. Colossians 1:13 says that God “hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”

When you belong to Christ, you are no longer under the ownership of darkness. Your life has been purchased by the blood of Jesus. Therefore, refuse to magnify the activities of witchcraft above the authority of Christ. Witchcraft may be real, but Jesus is greater.

Evil people may plan, but God has the final word. Enchantments may be spoken, but Numbers 23:23 declares, “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel.”

Rise in prayer, but also walk in wisdom. Repent of sin, break every ungodly agreement, guard your mind, establish healthy boundaries and remain faithful to God’s Word.

You will not be controlled by fear, manipulation or any operation of darkness. Every stronghold of the enemy shall be broken, and you shall move forward in freedom, wisdom and peace, in Jesus’ name.

PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Examine your life today and ask yourself: Is there any area where fear, sin, manipulation, unhealthy relationships or destructive thinking has gained too much influence over me? Bring it honestly before God and take practical steps to close every door that needs to be closed.

Be careful about whom you trust with sensitive information. Establish healthy boundaries with people whose actions repeatedly show dishonesty, manipulation or harmful intentions, but do not accuse anyone of witchcraft without evidence.

Identify one area where you need greater spiritual discipline – prayer, studying the Word, repentance or resisting temptation and begin working on it today. Remember, breaking the power of darkness requires prayer, wisdom and obedience.

Finally, refuse to live in fear. Declare 1 John 4:4 over yourself: “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” Pray, watch, walk wisely and keep moving forward with Christ.

Every power of witchcraft assigned to manipulate my life and destiny, lose your hold over me, in Jesus’ name.
Every witchcraft stronghold established against my progress, be pulled down by the power of God, in Jesus’ name.

Every work of darkness assigned to trouble my sleep, be frustrated, in Jesus’ name.
Every recurring nightmare producing fear and confusion in my mind, lose your power over me, in Jesus’ name.
I refuse to make accusations against people merely because of dreams, in Jesus’ name.
Father, give me accurate discernment concerning every dream that requires my attention, in Jesus’ name.
Every spiritual attack designed to make me abandon good opportunities through fear, be broken, in Jesus’ name.
