EJOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL: August 1, 2026 – Prepare for the New Month
Every new month is a fresh opportunity to begin again. It is another reminder that God has preserved your life, sustained your faith, and granted you another season to fulfil His purpose. Many people desired to see this new month but did not have the opportunity.
Therefore, entering a new month should never be treated as an ordinary event but as a privilege that deserves thanksgiving, reflection, and spiritual preparation. Many people enter a new month without any plan, prayer, or direction. They simply allow the days to unfold without seeking God’s guidance.
However, throughout the Scriptures, we see that God is a God of order, preparation, and purpose. Before He blesses His people, He often prepares them. Before He opens new doors, He teaches them to trust Him. Before He promotes them, He develops their character.
Preparing for a new month is not only about writing goals or making resolutions. It is about aligning your heart with God’s will. It is a time to thank God for His past faithfulness, repent of any known sins, renew your commitment to Christ, seek divine direction, and dedicate every day of the month into God’s hands.
A month that begins with God is more likely to be guided by His wisdom and sustained by His grace. As you step into this new month, refuse to carry the burdens, failures, bitterness, and disappointments of the previous month. Leave them at the feet of Jesus.
Receive fresh hope, renewed strength, and unwavering confidence that the God who preserved you yesterday will also lead you into greater victories in the days ahead. Therefore, entering a new month should never be treated as an ordinary event but as a privilege that deserves thanksgiving, reflection, and spiritual preparation.
Many people enter a new month with no plan, no prayer, no direction whatsoever. They just allow the days to roll by, one day flowing into another, hoping something good will happen along the way. But that is not how our God operates.
Throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, we see that God is a God of order, a God of preparation, a God of purpose. Before He blesses His people, He prepares them first. Before He opens new doors for them, He teaches them to trust Him first.
Before He promotes anybody, He develops their character first. God does not do things anyhow, and if you want to flow with Him this month, you cannot afford to do things anyhow either. Preparation is one of the keys to divine success. Throughout the Bible, God always prepared His people before leading them into a new season.
Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, Joshua instructed them to sanctify themselves because God was about to do wonders among them. Before David became king, God used years of training to prepare his heart. Before Jesus began His public ministry, He spent time in prayer, fasting, and obedience to the Father.
These examples teach us that preparation always precedes manifestation. Now listen to me, preparing for a new month is not just about writing goals on a piece of paper or making resolutions you will abandon by the second week. No. True preparation is about aligning your heart with God’s will.
It is a time to thank Him sincerely for His faithfulness in the month that has passed, to repent honestly of every known sin, to renew your commitment to Christ, to seek His direction specifically, and to dedicate every single day of this month into His hands.
A month that begins with God is a month far more likely to be guided by His wisdom and carried by His grace, than a month you enter carelessly, on your own understanding. Lamentations chapter 3, verses 22 to 23, it is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not, they are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness.
If His mercies are new every single morning, how much more are they new at the beginning of a whole new month? Every single day of last month, God’s mercy carried you, even the days you don’t remember to thank Him for, even the days you complained instead of praising, His mercy did not fail.
And now, as August opens its doors, a fresh consignment of mercy has been released for you, not a recycled mercy, not a leftover mercy, a brand new one, tailored specifically for the thirty-one days ahead. A new month is also a time to evaluate your spiritual life.
Ask yourself whether you have grown closer to God or drifted away from Him. Examine your prayer life, your study of the Scriptures, your obedience, and your personal holiness. Every new month should bring new spiritual growth. Do not remain at the same level year after year. Make a fresh commitment to seek God with greater passion and consistency.
Preparation also involves setting godly priorities. Not everything that demands your attention deserves your time. There are habits that must be abandoned, relationships that must be evaluated, and distractions that must be removed if you are to fulfil God’s purpose.
A wise person enters a new month with clear priorities and a heart that is willing to follow God’s direction above personal ambition. As you step into this new month today, I charge you, refuse to carry the burdens of the previous month with you. Leave the failures at the feet of Jesus. Leave the bitterness at the feet of Jesus. Leave every disappointment, every unanswered prayer, every heartbreak from last month, leave it all at the feet of Jesus.
Don’t carry dead weight into a living month. Instead, receive fresh hope this morning, receive renewed strength, receive unwavering confidence that the same God who preserved you yesterday, who kept you through storms you don’t even fully understand, is the same God who will lead you into greater victories in the days ahead.
Finally, do not enter this month with fear or uncertainty. Enter it with thanksgiving, faith, expectation, and confidence in God’s faithfulness. Declare His promises over your life. Pray consistently. Walk in obedience. Serve Him faithfully. Be diligent in your work. Show kindness to others. Live each day with purpose.
If you place God first throughout this month, He will direct your paths, establish the work of your hands, and cause His favour to surround you. May this new month become a season of answered prayers, divine opportunities, spiritual growth, and remarkable testimonies, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Evangelism Challenge
As you begin this new month, make it your goal to lead someone closer to Jesus Christ. Many people enter a new month with fear, uncertainty, and anxiety about the future. Share the hope found in God’s Word and remind them that true security is found in Christ, not in circumstances.
Reach out to at least one friend, family member, neighbour, or colleague who needs encouragement. Pray with them, share a Bible verse, and tell them about the faithfulness of God. If they have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, lovingly present the Gospel and invite them to surrender their lives to Him.
Invite someone to your church service, fellowship, Bible study, or prayer meeting this month. You can also share this devotional through WhatsApp, Facebook, or other social media platforms. A simple invitation or message of hope may become the beginning of someone’s transformation.
Today’s Mission: Win at least one soul for Christ or intentionally encourage one believer to become more committed to their walk with God before the end of this month.
Personal Challenge
Do not enter this new month carelessly. Set aside time today to seek God’s face before making your plans. Write down your spiritual, family, career, ministry, financial, and personal goals, then commit each one to the Lord in prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide every decision you make throughout the month.
Take inventory of the previous month. Thank God for every victory, learn from every mistake, and let go of every disappointment. Refuse to carry bitterness, fear, guilt, or regret into this new season. Instead, embrace God’s mercy, fresh grace, and renewed hope.
This month, develop at least one new godly habit that will strengthen your walk with Christ. Whether it is spending more time in prayer, reading the Bible daily, fasting regularly, or showing greater kindness to others, make spiritual growth your highest priority this month.
Today’s Challenge: Spend 30 minutes alone with God. Thank Him for bringing you into the new month, surrender your plans to Him, write down your expectations for the month, and pray over them one by one. Believe that as you commit your ways to the Lord, He will direct your steps and establish the work of your hands.
