DAY 40: A CRY FOR MERCY THAT SEALS MY VICTORY AND PRESERVE MY TESTIMONY
Psalm 51:1-2
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Micah 7:18-19
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Psalm 125:1-2
They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
Psalm 126:3
The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
Revelation 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Psalm 86:3
Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
INTRODUCTION
Moses remained on Mount Sinai with the Lord for forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water (Exodus 34:28; Exodus 24:18). Likewise, Jesus fasted for forty days in the wilderness to prepare for His ministry (Matthew 4:2). The bible makes us understand that nothing of eternal value comes without sacrifice.
You must be willing to lay something down to receive something greater from God. Spiritual breakthroughs demand spiritual investments. We have prayed with intensity, fasted with discipline, and consecrated ourselves for forty days. This sacrifice has paved the way for unprecedented victories and powerful testimonies in our lives.
But now God is calling us to a new level of spiritual responsibility, we must preserve and protect what we have received. The devil is a cunning adversary who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He often targets fresh testimonies and new breakthroughs, seeking to abort them before they fully mature and bring glory to God.
When God’s mercy seals a victory, it accomplishes several supernatural functions. First, it blocks every route the enemy might use to attack your breakthrough. It creates an impenetrable barrier between your present blessing and past bondage.
Second, it frustrates monitoring spirits especially those demonic agents assigned to watch your testimonies with evil interest, looking for opportunities to strike. Third, it confuses the strategies of darkness, rendering their weapons ineffective against what God has established.
When God seals something with His mercy, He places His divine signature upon it; a mark of ownership, authenticity, and permanence that declares, “This belongs to Me, and no unauthorised power may touch it.” Similarly, when God’s mercy seals your victory, the enemy loses all legal right to overturn it.
The blood of Jesus becomes the unbreakable seal that guarantees our victory forever. What God has signed with His mercy, hell cannot countersign with defeat. One of the most powerful ways to seal your victory and preserve your testimony is through continual thanksgiving and worship.
The Psalmist declared: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalm 100:4). Thanksgiving is not merely an expression of gratitude; it is a spiritual weapon that reinforces divine blessings and repels demonic attacks.
When you consistently thank God for what He has done, you create an atmosphere of faith that commands and sustains miracles. Thanksgiving acknowledges God’s faithfulness, which activates His covenant promises. It builds a memorial of remembrance that strengthens your faith during future challenges.
Moreover, continuous praise frustrates the enemy because it demonstrates your unwavering confidence in God’s ability to maintain what He has given you. Your victory and testimony are undeniable evidence that God has answered your prayers and moved on your behalf.
Therefore, you must exercise spiritual wisdom to prevent the enemy from attacking the glory of your testimony. When your testimony is attacked, your joy is attacked. When your joy is stolen, your strength diminishes, for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
Some believers testify prematurely before their victory is fully sealed with prayer and thanksgiving. They announce breakthroughs that are still in vulnerable stages, giving the enemy information he uses to launch counterattacks. Others expose publicly what God is still protecting privately, inviting unnecessary spiritual warfare.
There is a season for silence and a season for declaration. Discernment is crucial. This does not mean you should never testify or hide what God has done. Rather, it means you must first secure your breakthrough through prayer, seal it with thanksgiving, and wait for the Holy Spirit’s timing before making public declarations.
Some testimonies need time to mature in the secret place before they can withstand the scrutiny and attack that comes with public exposure. As we conclude this forty-day fasting and prayer journey, we approach God’s throne with hearts overflowing with thanksgiving.
We are not merely grateful for what He has done; we are actively thanking Him to keep and preserve every blessing, breakthrough, and deliverance we have received during this consecrated season. We are asking Him to establish our testimonies in righteousness, making them unshakeable foundations upon which future victories will be built.
We are crying out for the grace to finish well and finish strong. Many have started well but failed to complete their spiritual journey with the same intensity and devotion. We refuse to be among those who stumble at the finish line.
Instead, we are asking God for sustaining grace, the divine enablement to maintain our spiritual altitude, preserve our consecration, and walk in continuous victory long after this forty-day season has ended. When people ask you, “How did you achieve this breakthrough? How did you overcome that impossible situation?
How did you experience such radical transformation?” Your answer should be simple yet profound: “The mercy of God did it, and the mercy of God preserves it.” Not your strength, not your wisdom, not your strategy but God’s unmerited favour and supernatural intervention. This testimony keeps you humble and keeps God glorified in your life.
It points others not to your ability but to His availability. It shifts the focus from human effort to divine mercy. The mercy you cry for today will seal every victory you have won during these forty days of fasting and prayer. It will preserve your testimony not just for your lifetime, but for generations to come.
Your children and grandchildren will inherit the spiritual legacy of sealed victories and preserved testimonies that you are establishing through this season of consecration. Trust that He who began this good work in you will continue to perfect everything that concerns you in this season and out of season, in times of plenty and times of lack, in moments of celebration and moments of testing.
He is faithful to complete what He has started. His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness extends to all generations. Therefore, lift up your voice and declare with unwavering confidence: My victory is sealed! My testimony is preserved! My breakthrough is permanent! The mercy of God has done it, and the mercy of God will maintain it forever, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
CONFESSION
O Lord, by Your abundant mercy, I boldly declare that my victory is permanently sealed with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. My testimony shall not be aborted, corrupted, sabotaged, or revoked by any power of darkness. What You have done for me shall be glorified throughout the earth and celebrated in the heavens.
What the Lord has begun in my life, He shall complete. What He has finished shall remain finished forever. No weapon of reversal shall prosper against the works of God in my life. I decree that I will finish well and finish strong. I will not stumble at the edge of my breakthrough, nor will I fall at the gates of my victory.
I will testify again and again of the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. My mouth shall continually be filled with testimonies of divine intervention, supernatural deliverance, and miraculous provision. Thank You, Jesus, for hearing and answering every prayer I have prayed during these 40 days of consecrated fasting and prayer.
I give You praise for every breakthrough that has manifested and for those still on the way. I believe with unwavering faith that all the blessings I have received during this season are permanently established in my life. They shall not expire, diminish, or fade away. They are sealed by divine decree and preserved by heavenly mercy.
I declare that the spiritual altitude I have attained shall be maintained. The doors You have opened shall remain open. The chains You have broken shall never be reconnected back again. The victories You have granted shall stand as eternal monuments to Your faithfulness.
The anointing released upon my life during this season shall continue to flow and increase from glory to glory. My testimony is secured, my victory is guaranteed, and my future is established in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. What God has spoken over my life during these 40 days shall come to pass in fullness, and none of it shall fall to the ground unfulfilled.
I am sealed unto the day of redemption, preserved by power divine, and established in everlasting triumph. In Jesus’ mighty name, I have prayed, and it is forever settled in heaven and on earth. Amen!
PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Set aside 30 to 45 minutes for intensive worship and praise. Enter into the presence of God with a grateful heart, lifting your voice in songs of thanksgiving and adoration. Allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you during this sacred time, letting praise become the atmosphere where your victory is established and your testimony is sealed.
Thank God specifically for every breakthrough, deliverance, and divine intervention you have experienced during these 40 days of prayer and fasting. Recount His faithfulness from day one until this final day. Celebrate each answered prayer, every chain that was broken, and all the manifestations of His mercy in your life.
Let your worship be deliberate and heartfelt not rushed but flowing from deep gratitude for what God has accomplished in your life. As you praise Him, you are building a memorial of thanksgiving that reinforces the permanence of your victories and magnifies the testimony of His goodness.
During this worship time:
- Magnify the Lord for His unfailing mercy throughout this journey
- Celebrate the completion of the 40-day consecration with joy
- Declare that every seed sown in prayer has produced a harvest
- Give Him glory for victories both seen and those yet to manifest
- Allow tears of joy and gratitude to flow freely in His presence
- Let the Holy Spirit seal everything you’ve received with supernatural confirmation
This is not merely the end of a prayer season, it is the beginning of a new dimension of sustained victory and preserved testimony in your life.
HYMN – To God be The Glory
1 To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
so loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life-gate that all may go in.
Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,
and give Him the glory, great things He hath done.
2 O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to ev’ry believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives. [Refrain]
3 Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see. [Refrain]

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT
If you have anointing oil: Anoint your head and declare, “By the mercy of God, my victory is sealed, and my testimony is preserved forever, in the name of Jesus.”
Create Your Testimony List: Take time to write down every breakthrough, deliverance, healing, provision, and divine intervention you can remember that God has done in your life, no matter how small or large. Include answered prayers, miraculous escapes, unexpected blessings, restoration, and times when God showed up in impossible situations.
Enter Into Specific Thanksgiving: Go through your written list one by one, and thank God specifically for each testimony. Don’t rush through this exercise. Let gratitude fill your heart as you remember His faithfulness. For example:
- “Father, I thank You for healing me from __________ when doctors said there was no hope.”
- “Lord, I praise You for delivering me from the bondage of __________.”
- “Holy Spirit, I bless Your name for providing __________ when I had absolutely nothing.”
- “Jesus, I glorify You for protecting me from __________ that could have destroyed my life.”
As you give thanks, also pray for divine sealing over each testimony, declaring that what God has done shall remain permanent and shall never be reversed by any power of darkness. Let this become a moment of deep communion with God, where you relive His faithfulness and reinforce the permanence of His works in your life through thanksgiving and declaration.
