DAY 4: A CRY OF MERCY FOR MAKING WRONG CHOICES AND BAD DECISIONS

Psalm 25:4-5

Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Isaiah 30:21

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

INTRODUCTION

Life is shaped by decisions. Where you are today is connected to choices you made yesterday, and where you will be tomorrow depends largely on what you decide today. The painful truth is that not all decisions are evil in appearance.

Some wrong choices look right, feel right, and even sound logical, yet they carry seeds of sorrow. There are decisions made in haste, in anger, in fear, in desperation, in loneliness, or under pressure, and though they look harmless at first, they later grow into storms.

Many people suffer silently because of regret. They ask themselves questions like, “Why did I say yes?” “Why didn’t I wait?” “Why did I ignore that warning?” “Why did I rush?” Regret is a heavy burden, and if it is not handled through mercy, it can turn into shame, self-condemnation, and hopelessness.

This is why God, in His wisdom, did not just reveal Himself as powerful, holy, and righteous; He also revealed Himself as merciful. Mercy is God’s response to human failure. The Bible shows us clearly that even righteous people made wrong choices.

Men and women who loved God still stumbled in decisions. Yet what separated those who recovered from those who perished was not perfection, but humility. Those who cried for mercy found restoration. Those who covered their mistakes with pride found destruction. Mercy is what gives a man a second chance when his first attempt failed.

Wrong choices often come from ignoring divine signals. God speaks more than people realize. He speaks through His Word, through His Spirit, through peace or lack of it, through godly counsel, and sometimes through quiet inner warnings. But many times, people silence these signals because of urgency, pressure, or desire.

When a man wants something badly, he can mistake emotion for direction. When fear takes over, he can confuse speed with progress. When pride enters, he can reject correction. All these lead to decisions that later require mercy.

One dangerous thing about wrong decisions is that their consequences can outlive the decision itself. A choice made in one day can affect many years to come. A sentence spoken in anger can destroy a relationship built for a lifetime. A partnership entered without prayer can trap a destiny.

A step taken without God can lead to cycles of delay, loss, and struggle. This is why human wisdom is not enough to navigate life. Without God’s guidance, even intelligent people make foolish decisions

Crying for mercy requires humility. It takes humility to admit, “I was wrong.” It takes humility to say, “Lord, I am sorry for taking the wrong steps” Many people want God to fix their lives without acknowledging their errors.

But restoration begins where honesty begins. God resists pride, but He gives grace to the humble. When a man stops defending his mistakes and starts confessing them, heaven responds and releases mercy unto them.

Many battles in life are not caused by demons or people, but by making wrong choices and bad decisions. The Bible says in Prov 14:12, warns that there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is destruction. Wrong choices may look harmless at the beginning, but they carry long-term consequences. Bad decisions are often made in haste, emotion, pressure, fear, ignorance, pride or disobedience to advice.

In the Bible, we see how one wrong decision can alter destinies. For example Esau sold his birthright to Jacob. Saul disobeyed divine instruction because he was a king. Samson ignored divine warnings by allowing the devil to destroy him. Adam and Eve made the wrong direction that destroyed them.

That’s why in this day 4 fasting, we need to cry for divine mercy and the right direction. A cry for change is needed when you are tired of delay and stagnation. Wrong decisions can attract battles, wrong people, and put you in the wrong locations, ruin your careers, and bondage.

Many are suffering today not because God abandoned them, but because they stepped outside divine direction. God is a Restorer and Corrector, He will correct all your wrongs and retrace your steps to the right path by His mercies.

Mercy of God can rewrite our mistakes. True repentance gives room for divine correction. PS 25:4-5 shows that when we cry to God sincerely, and with humility, He will restore the joy of our salvation. This day is a day to cry for mercy over our wrong choices, bad advice, ignored instructions, etc.

It is a day to ask God to correct our path, heal the consequences of our wrong decisions, and realign us with His perfect will. God does not only forgive sins but, He also corrects our wrong doings. If you cry genuinely, God will intervene. He will redirect our steps, and open your doors.

In conclusion, the cry of mercy for wrong choices and bad decisions is not a warfare prayer; it is a prayer of restoration. A prayer for divine direction and settlement. It is the prayer of a man who wants to get it right this year.

It is the prayer of someone who refuses to be imprisoned by yesterday’s errors. No matter how costly the mistake is, mercy of God is more powerful. No matter how deep the regret is, mercy of God can cancel it. When mercy speaks, destiny listens.

CONFESSION

Father, I come before You with a humble and contrite heart. I acknowledge that I have made wrong choices and taken decisions without seeking Your counsel, and I take full responsibility for every step that led me outside Your will. I repent sincerely of every act of disobedience, presumption, and self-will that has affected my life, my family, and my destiny.

Lord, I plead for Your mercy over every decision I made without You. Where my choices have opened doors to loss, delay, pain, or confusion, let Your mercy intervene. Heal the consequences of my mistakes, repair what has been damaged, and restore what has been lost.

Father, correct my path, realign my steps, and redirect my destiny according to Your perfect will. Let Your wisdom replace my errors, let Your grace cover my past, and let Your purpose prevail over my life. From today, I receive the grace to hear You clearly, obey You promptly, and walk in Your counsel completely. Thank You for Your mercy that rewrites stories and restores destinies. I surrender my life fully to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
