DAY 2: A CRY FOR MERCY IN MY PRESENT SITUATION

Psalm 34:6
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

BASIC SCRIPTURE

Psalm 57

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.

He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

INTRODUCTION

God’s mercy is great. Psalm 57:10 tells us that His mercy is great unto the heavens. However, as great as God’s mercy is, it is only available to those who genuinely repent of their sins, surrender their lives to Jesus, and make a commitment to living a holy life. Only those who fear God will partake of His overflowing mercy (Psalm 103:11).

God never withholds His mercy from those who cry out to Him for it. When Blind Bartimaeus cried for mercy in Mark 10:46-52, Jesus heard his cry and responded. When a father cried for mercy concerning his son who was tormented by a devil, Jesus responded and delivered the child (Matthew 17:14-18).

When the Canaanite woman cried for mercy concerning her daughter, even though it wasn’t yet time for the Gentiles to experience God’s merciful gift of salvation, Jesus responded, and the girl was made whole (Matthew 15:22-28). In the name above every other name, I pray that God’s mercy will locate you and make you whole in all areas of life.

You need God’s mercy when things are good in your life and when they are not so good. You need mercy when you are in need and when you are satisfied. When in need, God’s mercy will bring you answers to problems, and in good times, His mercy will preserve your blessings.

The cry for mercy shouldn’t only be on the lips of those who are in trouble and need urgent help; even those who live in abundance and believe they don’t have problems must ask for mercy so nothing will tamper with their blessings

Until a man cries for mercy, certain things will not change in his life. Until you cry for mercy, some prayers remain unanswered not because God is deaf to your prayers, but because mercy has not yet been engaged in your matter.

In the Scriptures, no one who cried sincerely for mercy was ignored by God. When a man cries for mercy in desperation and humility, God listens, God remembers, and God responds. Like the blind man in the Bible. Mercy moves the heart of God to wipe away our tears and intervene in our situation.

When a prophet instructs you to cry to God for mercy, it is not a sign of manipulate you; but it is a sign to bless you. Crying for mercy means God is calling you closer to approach Him in truth, humility, and brokenness of heart.

Some doors will not open through warfare prayers alone until a man comes before God in regret, pain, and total repentance. Mercy can open the great doors that fasting, shouting, and anger sometimes cannot open.

This is why Manasseh, after years of rebellion and wickedness, humbled himself and cried for mercy. God heard him, forgave him, and restored him to his kingdom (2 Chronicles 33:12–13).

Restoration, therefore, is one of the clearest signs that mercy of God has come to saturate your life. God does not ignore genuine cries for mercy. When men cry from brokenness mixed with faith, mercy intervenes and healing takes place in your life. Many people are suffering today not because God is absent from their lives, but because they have not learned how to cry for mercy.

Crying for mercy brings a man to God in regret, pain, and total submission. It makes a man to draw closer to God in repentance. Throughout the Bible, whenever people cried genuinely, God responded with compassion and show mercy by forgiving us our sins.

As we enter Day 2, you must cry to God sincerely. If you are in pain, do not act strong, cry like a wounded lion. If you are confused, cry for mercy over your situation. If you have made mistakes, cry to Him.

God is still the God who hears cries for mercy. The Scripture says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy” (Hebrews 4:16). Today, mercy will speak for you

CONFESSION

Father, I acknowledge that this situation is bigger than my strength and wisdom. I confess that I cannot fix it by myself. I lay down my pride, fear, anxiety and I place my total trust in you. Lord, as I cry to You, show me mercy in my situation today. By Your mercy, let every situation in my life that has become confusing, painful, and overwhelming receive divine clarity and direction now. Let Your mercy locate me and rewrite my story. I confess that my present situation will expire tonight and will not end in shame, sorrow, or disappointment, because the mercy of God is intervening on my behalf.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP
