Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalm 25:4-5
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Psalm 119:133
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Psalm 37:23
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
INTRODUCTION
Have you ever paused to look back and sincerely asked yourself, “Where exactly did I miss it?” Have you ever put in your best effort on something, did all you knew to do, yet the outcome still turned out wrong?
Have you ever wondered why people who started after you seem to be moving ahead, while you are still correcting avoidable mistakes? The Scripture says, “Order my steps, O Lord.”
This is why we must cry to God to order our steps and preserve us from errors that can cost us our destiny. Many times, it is not a lack of effort that holds people back, but a lack of divine direction.
What are the things consuming your time but producing no results in your life? This year, they must be addressed. Getting it right is not about doing many things at once; it is about doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right way.
This is where the mercy of God becomes indispensable. It takes God’s mercy to navigate life accurately and arrive at the place He has ordained for you. The mercy of God is what sustains us in difficult seasons.
Without it, a person can become stuck in life, repeatedly walking the wrong path and making decisions that later bring regret. But when God’s mercy is at work, He begins to operate behind the scenes to protect, preserve, provide, and cause favour to speak for you.
Getting it right is more than succeeding; it is succeeding according to God’s divine design. It is possible to be praying and still miss the right response. It is possible to do the right thing but do it in the wrong way.
It is even possible to be in your promised land and yet be confused about how to fulfill your purpose. Many destinies are delayed by sin, unhealthy habits, disobedience, wrong associations, poor decisions, wrong timing, and emotional attachments.
Some people prayed when they should have been crying for repentance and mercy. Others are under God’s mercy but continue to abuse the privilege. That is why we must return to God with humility and genuine repentance.
When mercy comes, God begins to edit a person’s life. He removes what will waste your time, corrects what will spoil your year, confronts whatever seeks to make you unfruitful, restores hope, and releases the grace needed to produce results.
As you cry for mercy today, may God arise and give you divine clarity and a clear template for this year. May He grant you speed, open doors of opportunity, and surround you with the right atmosphere and the right relationships to make the most of this season.
As we move forward this year, may the Lord guide every plan and decision we make. Any mistake that would bring confusion, shame, or regret will not locate us. By His mercy, we will get it right, in Jesus’ name.
CONFESSION
Father, I acknowledge that without Your mercy I cannot live rightly or make the right decisions. I humble myself before You and fully submit my life to You. I lay down my own understanding, my plans, and every assumption at Your feet. By Your mercy, correct every error in my life, renew my spirit, and order my steps according to Your will. I receive grace to think right, choose right, hear right, and move right this year. I declare that I will not take wrong steps, and I will not repeat past mistakes. By Your divine help, I will get it right this time, and my life will bring You glory, in Jesus’ name.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Spend 15 minutes thanking God for His guidance and direction in your life. As you worship Him, intentionally surrender the year, your plans, and all your expectations into His hands, trusting Him to lead you perfectly.
HYMN – The Great Physician Now Is Near
1 The great Physician now is near,
the sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
oh! hear the voice of Jesus.
Refrain:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
sweetest name on mortal tongue;
sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.
2 Your many sins are all forgiven,
oh! hear the voice of Jesus;
go on your way in peace to heaven,
and wear a crown with Jesus. [Refrain]
3 All glory to the risen Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Savior’s name,
I love the name of Jesus. [Refrain]
4 His name dispels my guilt and fear,
no other name but Jesus;
oh! how my soul delights to hear
the charming name of Jesus. [Refrain]

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT
Take time in the presence of God and ask Him this one simple but profound question: “Lord, what am I doing right now that is not aligned with Your will for my life?” Wait quietly before Him and write down whatever the Holy Spirit brings to your heart, every conviction, every whisper, every gentle correction.
Don’t rush this moment. Let the Spirit search your heart and reveal areas that need adjustment. After you have received His response, pray again with sincerity and say: “Father, I surrender this area fully to You. I ask for Your mercy to correct, heal, and redirect me.”
For the next 24 hours, commit to making no major decisions unless you have complete peace in your spirit. Practice the discipline of waiting on God. Let His peace be your guide and your confirmation.
This assignment is designed to activate instructional mercy in your life, the kind of mercy that not only forgives but also teaches, corrects, and redirects you toward the path of righteousness and divine success.
