DAY 15: A CRY FOR MERCY FOR FRESH ACCESS TO GOD
2 Chronicles 15:2
And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
Psalm 27:4
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Psalm 51:11-12
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
INTRODUCTION
Have you lost access to God’s presence? Do you feel spiritually disconnected, spiritually dry, or spiritually stagnant? The mercy of God is powerful enough to restore your access quickly and completely.
As you cry out for mercy with genuine repentance and sincere hunger for His presence, your lost access can be fully restored.
One of the primary reasons why many believers’ prayers seem to remain unanswered and their petitions appear blocked is because they have lost the access necessary to capture God’s attention and move His heart.
When our access is compromised through sin, neglect, or spiritual complacency, our prayers lack the power and effectiveness they once had. They seem to bounce off the ceiling rather than penetrating the heavens.
When a believer loses access to God’s presence, they have essentially lost everything that matters, including the peace of mind that comes from knowing God hears and answers prayer, the joy of sensing His nearness, and the confidence that comes from walking in His favour.
There is a clear difference between knowing God and having access to God. Many people know about God, speak His name, and attend church regularly, yet lack true access to His presence. It is access to God not titles, positions, or years in church that leads to the salvation, restoration, and preservation of our souls.
Fresh access to God is rooted in relationship, not religion; intimacy with Christ, not activity for Christ. In Scripture, Adam and Eve lost access to God and His blessings because of sin. Their fall did not remove God from existence, but it removed unhindered fellowship.
Yet through Christ, God has restored to us the privilege of coming boldly into His presence at any time and from anywhere. The Bible invites us to draw near to the throne of grace, showing that access has already been granted to us and what remains is our response.
The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in this access. He leads us to the Father, guides our steps, convicts our hearts, and reminds us of God’s truth. When we walk in the Spirit, our connection with God remains alive, sensitive, and active.
Fresh access is sustained when we move beyond excuses, pride, and spiritual complacency, and yield fully to the leading of the Holy Spirit. If you sense distance from God, it is not a time for guilt or withdrawal, it is a time to cry out for mercy.
Fresh access begins with humility. God shares His secrets with those who are intimate with Him. His presence brings peace, joy, clarity, and direction. Where intimacy is restored, strength returns.
Many prayers remain unanswered not because God is absent, but because access has been blocked. When a believer loses access, everything else is affected including peace of mind, spiritual sensitivity, confidence in prayer, and discernment.
Sin, disobedience, wrong attitudes, and neglected fellowship can quietly shut doors that only mercy can reopen. When we cultivate genuine intimacy with God through consistent prayer, worship, and obedience to His Word, He begins to share His secrets with us.
The Psalmist wrote, “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Psalm 25:14). In the place of intimate fellowship, God reveals His plans, purposes, and mysteries to those who draw near to Him with sincere hearts.
When you honestly deal with your sin, confessing it, repenting of it, and forsaking it and when you remove anything that is blocking the flow of God’s grace in your life, you will begin to hear God’s voice clearly again and feel the tangible answers to your prayers.
Spiritual breakthrough always begins with spiritual honesty and genuine repentance. As we cry out to God today with humble and contrite hearts, may the Lord mercifully open every door that our sin, rebellion, disobedience, and wrong attitudes have shut against us.
May He restore the access we have forfeited and renew the intimacy we once enjoyed with Him. May fresh access to His presence become our present reality, transforming our prayer lives, our spiritual walks, and our eternal destinies.
If the door to God’s presence stands open before you today. Will you enter in with thanksgiving and come before His courts with praise? Will you draw near to Him, trusting that He will draw near to you? The choice is yours, and the time is now.
CONFESSION
O Lord my God, I come before You today with a humble and contrite heart, fully recognizing that without Your abundant mercy and sustaining grace, I cannot stand. I am completely dependent upon Your lovingkindness, for it is by Your mercy alone that I am not consumed.
Father, I acknowledge that if anything in my life has created a barrier between us whether through actions I was fully aware of or things I did unknowingly and in ignorance, I sincerely repent today. Search my heart, O God, and reveal to me every hidden thing that has grieved Your Spirit or hindered my fellowship with You.
I ask that You would have mercy upon me according to Your great compassion. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation and renew a right spirit within me.
Remove every obstacle that has blocked my access to Your throne of grace, and fully restore the sweet communion and intimate fellowship that I long to have with You. I pray all these things in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Set aside 10-15 minutes to enter into heartfelt worship and adoration of God. During this time, lift up your voice in songs of praise, declare His goodness with thanksgiving, and magnify His holy name with reverence and joy. You may choose to sing worship songs you know, read aloud psalms of praise from Scripture, or simply speak words of adoration from your heart. Let your worship be genuine, passionate, and focused entirely on who God is – His character, His majesty, His faithfulness, and His unfailing love.
HYMN – Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour
1 Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.Open Heaven book
Refrain:
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
2 Let me, at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.
3 Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.
4 Thou, the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me.
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heav’n but Thee?

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT
Begin by praying through Psalm 51 slowly and deliberately, making it your personal prayer of repentance and restoration. Don’t rush through the words, allow each verse to sink deep into your spirit. After you have finished praying Psalm 51 with sincerity and deep reflection, make this declaration of faith seven times with conviction and authority: “By the mercy of God, my access to Him is fully restored.”
As you repeat this declaration, believe in your heart that God’s mercy is actively removing every barrier, breaking every chain, and opening every door that has been closed between you and His presence. Receive by faith the fresh access to God that you have been crying out for throughout this day of prayer.
