DAY 36: A CRY TO CONNECT TO THE MERCY OF GOD

Psalm 51:1-2

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Romans 9:15-16

For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Mark 10:47-49

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

Psalm 103:8-10

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Psalm 86:3-4

Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

INTRODUCTION

There’s something you need to understand about crying out to God, it’s not about the volume of your voice. You can cry silently in your heart, and God will hear you. What matters is the desperation, the sincerity, the brokenness behind that cry.

Hannah didn’t make noise when she prayed in the temple. The Bible says she was crying in her heart, and her lips were moving, but no sound came out. Eli the priest thought she was drunk. But God heard that silent cry, and mercy gave her Samuel. Your cry doesn’t have to be loud to be effective. It just has to be genuine.

When you cry for mercy, you’re admitting something powerful: “God, I cannot do this on my own. I’ve tried everything, and nothing is working. I need You to intervene in a way that only You can.” That admission of helplessness is actually the position of strength, because it connects you to the One who has all power.

Some people are suffering today not because God doesn’t want to help them, but because they’ve never truly cried for mercy. They’ve prayed religious prayers. They’ve recited beautiful words. They’ve quoted scriptures. But they’ve never broken down before God with a desperate cry from the depths of their soul.

Others don’t receive mercy because they’re too proud. Pride makes you feel like you don’t need mercy, like you can figure things out yourself, like you’re good enough on your own., like with your education, you can get what you want.

But the Bible says God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. If you want mercy, you must humble yourself. Some people keep trying to earn God’s favour through their works. They think if they just do more, serve more, give more, God will finally bless them.

But mercy doesn’t work that way. You cannot earn it. You cannot buy it. You cannot deserve it. You can only cry for it and receive it by faith. One of the most beautiful things about God’s mercy is that it can restore what the enemy has stolen.

The Bible says in Joel 2:25, “I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” That’s a promise of divine restoration. Maybe you feel like you’ve wasted years in the wrong relationship, the wrong career, the wrong decisions.

Maybe you feel age is no longer on your side. The good news is that mercy doesn’t just give you a fresh start, it compensates you for lost time. It accelerates your progress. It multiplies your blessings. It adds to your age. What should have taken you twenty years to achieve by default, mercy can accomplish it in just two minutes.

Joseph spent thirteen years as a slave and prisoner before mercy lifted him to the palace.  But when mercy came, it came with such power that he became second in command in Egypt in a single day. All those years of suffering were not wasted, they were preparation.

And when mercy promoted him, it was so dramatic that no one could deny God’s hand upon his life. We all desperately need the mercy of God in our lives. Here’s something important you must understand: mercy is not given to people who deserve it.

If you deserved it, it wouldn’t be called mercy, it would be called a reward. Mercy is specifically for those who don’t deserve it at all. That’s what makes it so powerful and so beautiful. This is why we must cry out to God for mercy.

When you cry out to Him, it shows your heart is truly hungry for His intervention. It reveals your eagerness to connect with Him, not just casually, but desperately. Think about blind Bartimaeus sitting by the roadside. When he heard that Jesus was passing by, he didn’t just whisper a polite prayer.

He cried out loudly, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” People told him to be quiet, but he cried even louder. And what happened? Mercy located him. Jesus stopped, called him, and restored his sight.

Consider the woman caught in adultery in John chapter 8. She was dragged before Jesus, exposed and humiliated. According to the law, she deserved death by stoning. She stood there facing judgement with no defense, no excuse, no way out.

But mercy stepped in. Jesus forgave her and told her to go and sin no more. Mercy gave her a second chance when judgment said she deserved condemnation. Look at King David. He was a man after God’s own heart, yet he fell into terrible sin; adultery and murder.

When the prophet Nathan confronted him, David could have made excuses or tried to justify himself. Instead, he cried out from the depths of his soul, “Have mercy upon me, O God.” He connected to the mercy of God through his sincere cry, and mercy located him. God forgave him and gave him another chance.

The mercy of God is the solution to every problem you’re facing in life. Jesus Himself is the mercy giver. He’s the one who extends mercy to us freely and abundantly. Here’s what mercy does: It forgives us when we’ve sinned and failed.

It gives us a second chance when we’ve blown our first opportunity. It gives us far more than we could ever ask for or imagine. Mercy restores the years that have been wasted by mistakes, delay, or enemy attacks. Mercy gives you a voice in places where you have no voice.

When you’re unqualified by human standards, mercy steps in and qualifies you. When everything in your life has fallen apart, mercy gives you a brand new beginning. Mercy rewrites your story. Sometimes God is not necessarily waiting for your perfect prayers or impressive words.

What He’s waiting for is your cry, your genuine cry of regret over wasted time, your cry of guilt over missed opportunities, your cry demanding that God’s glory be revealed in your situation. We need to cry to the God of mercy. When God connects you to His mercy, everything changes.

Your struggles come to an end. Your repeated failures turn into success. Your losses are replaced with restoration. What looked impossible suddenly becomes possible. This cry is for those who are tired of their present situation. If you’re frustrated, stuck in the same place year after year, you need to cry for mercy.

This cry is necessary for those who are weary from praying prayers that seem to go unanswered. When you feel like your prayers are hitting the ceiling and bouncing back, that’s when you need to shift from regular prayer to crying for mercy.

There are many people today suffering under satanic attacks. They’re struggling, they’re barely surviving, yet nothing seems to work. The problem isn’t that they’re not trying hard enough. The problem is they haven’t connected to the mercy of God. And without mercy, even your best efforts will keep falling short.

When the mercy of God finds you and settles upon your life, people around you will notice. They’ll see the hand of God working on your behalf, even if they don’t understand how it happened. They’ll wonder what changed, what you did differently. The answer will be simple: mercy located you.

Mercy is what brings real peace to a troubled heart. Mercy is what restores joy to a life that’s been filled with sorrow. When mercy shows up, everything that has been working against you begins to lose its power.

The world operates on a system of qualifications. You need the right education, the right connections, the right background, the right experience. But mercy operates on a different system entirely. Mercy qualifies you when everything else says you’re not qualified.

Moses was a murderer and a fugitive, yet mercy called him to deliver an entire nation. Peter denied Jesus three times, yet mercy restored him and made him the rock upon which the church was built. Paul persecuted Christians, yet mercy transformed him into the greatest apostle. Mary Magdalene had seven demons, yet mercy made her the first witness of the resurrection.

If you feel unqualified, underqualified, disqualified, that’s exactly where mercy does its best work. Stop looking at your limitations and start crying for God’s mercy. When mercy qualifies you, no one can disqualify you.

YOUR CRY TODAY

As you cry out for mercy today, believe with all your heart that the Lord hears your cry. He’s not deaf to your desperation. He’s not ignoring your tears. Your sincere cry has reached His throne, and He will answer you.

Don’t hold back. Don’t be ashamed to cry. Don’t worry about what anyone thinks. Cry from the deepest place in your spirit. Let your cry be genuine, desperate, and persistent. Keep crying until mercy locates you, until you feel the shift, until you see the breakthrough. The God of mercy is listening, and He will respond very soon. Your cry will not be in vain.

After hearing all of this, you have a choice to make. You can either continue struggling on your own, or you can humble yourself and cry out for the mercy of God right now. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Don’t wait until you feel more worthy.

Don’t wait until your situation becomes more desperate. Cry out now. This is your moment. This is your opportunity to connect to the mercy that changes everything. Get serious with God. Tell Him exactly where you are, exactly what you’re facing, exactly what you need.

Don’t try to sound religious or impressive. Just be honest. Be desperate. Be persistent. Cry like your life depends on it, because it actually does. The same mercy that located blind Bartimaeus is available to you today.

The same mercy that forgave the adulteress woman is reaching out to you now. The same mercy that restored David is waiting to restore you. All you have to do is cry out and receive it.

CONFESSION

Father, I am deeply sorry for every sin, every transgression, every act of disobedience that has separated me from Your presence and blocked the flow of Your mercy into my life. I confess my failures, my mistakes, my shortcomings, and I ask that You wash me clean with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

O God of mercy, I acknowledge that I cannot survive without Your mercy. I cannot make progress without Your mercy. I cannot fulfill my divine destiny without Your mercy. My very existence depends upon the abundant mercy that flows from Your throne.

Today, I am crying out to connect to You, the God whose very nature is mercy, the God who delights in showing compassion, the God whose mercies are new every morning. I am not just asking for mercy; I am crying to be permanently connected to the inexhaustible fountain of Your divine mercy.

O Lord, let Your mercy locate me in my present situation. Find me in this place of need, this moment of desperation, this season of waiting. Let Your mercy track me down, overtake me, and settle every issue troubling my soul.

By the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, I reconnect my life to divine mercy. I reconnect my destiny to divine mercy. I reconnect my future to divine mercy. I reconnect my family to divine mercy. I reconnect my health to divine mercy. I reconnect my finances to divine mercy. I reconnect everything concerning me to the everlasting mercy of the Almighty God.

I decree and declare that from this day forward, mercy will be my portion. Mercy will restore everything the enemy has stolen from me. Mercy will repair every broken area of my life. Mercy will rebuild every collapsed dream. Mercy will rewrite my story from tragedy to triumph.

I declare that mercy will make a way for me where there seems to be no way. Mercy will open doors that have remained shut for years. Mercy will break chains that have held me captive. Mercy will silence every voice of condemnation speaking against my destiny.

I refuse to be disconnected from the mercy of God. I refuse to operate outside the realm of divine compassion. I refuse to settle for judgement when mercy is available. My life is permanently plugged into the limitless mercy of Jehovah, and nothing in hell or on earth can separate me from this connection.

Father, I thank You because You have heard my cry. You have seen my tears. You have felt my desperation. And because You are the God of mercy, You cannot ignore the sincere cry of Your child. Your mercy has located me. Your mercy has restored me. Your mercy has made a way for me.

From this moment forward, I walk in the light of divine mercy. I live under the shadow of God’s compassion. I operate in the atmosphere of heavenly kindness. My testimony shall be: “It is of the Lord’s mercies that I am not consumed. His compassions never fail.

They are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness. It is done. It is settled. It is permanent and irreversible. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I have prayed. Amen and Amen!

PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Set aside 10-15 minutes of your time to worship the Lord. Put away every distraction, silence your phone, find a quiet place, and focus your heart entirely on Him. As you cry to God in worship, may the Holy Spirit visit you.

Think about the times He protected you from danger you never saw. Remember the moments He provided when there seemed to be no way. Reflect on how He has kept you alive, sustained you through difficult seasons, and brought you to this very moment. Every breath you take is a testimony of His mercy.

HYMN – Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah!

1 Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah!

Pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but Thou art mighty,

Hold me with Thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven! Bread of heaven!

Feed me now and evermore (2ce)

2 Open Thou the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing stream doth flow:

Let the fiery, cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey through:

Strong deliverer! strong deliverer!

Be Thou still my strength and shield (2ce)

3 If I tread the verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious fears subside:

Bear me through the swelling torrent,

Land me safe on Canaan’s side:

Songs of praises! songs of praises!

I will ever give to Thee (2ce)

4 Saviour, come! We long to see Thee,

Long to dwell with Thee above;

And to know in full communion,

All the sweetness of Thy love.

Come, Lord Jesus! Come, Lord Jesus!

Take Thy waiting people home (2ce)

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT

Before engaging in this prayer assignment, take time to read the following passages prayerfully and meditatively. Allow the Holy Spirit to minister to your heart through these powerful scriptures on mercy:
